I remember on Dr. Seuss's birthday when I was in like fourth grade, they played part of this song over the loudspeakers during the morning announcements.
I was the only person in my class who recognized the song. (Possibly even the whole school, other than my sister.)
People couldn't understand why I was so excited. Fuck 'em.
That's not a girl singing the intro, it's Mike Ford pitch-shifted up 10%. I was the recording engineer on this session (done at Comfort Sound in Toronto back in 1991 or 92). The Dr. Seuss estate would not give them permission to put it on the cd, so it only exists on the six song cassette, done before they were signed to Warner Bros. The cassette sold 42,000 copies, which was enough to get the record company to offer them a deal.
@LivewireRemote could you make this available on itunes or contact someone who could make that happen? My brother and I loved this song from the first time that my dad showed this to us. He bought the cassette and played it for us when we lived in Japan. We really wanted to own the itunes version and I wanted to show it to my friends as well.
@onetwopunchify Any chance you could make your version available? I have a mint cassette from ebay as well (which I've never played), but nothing to remaster it with. :( The fact that we still don't have decent (new *and* non-mp3) CD transfers of this and BNL's Buck Naked circulating is a crime.
P.S. This is the first time I've ever heard that little bit of vocal warm-up at the beginning. :-o
@dascottjr there is a means to get this song from the interet that allows you to copy videos from the net. Just google it. Then you could make a CD. Just saying.
I have (somewhere) the original cassette ALL the songs were awesome : GE&H, My Baby Loves a Bunch of Authors, The Drinking Song, BJ Don't Cry, King of Spain, Gulf War Song ... don't remember what else. I miss living on the border back in the day we could walk across one of the bridges to & from the US & Canada (Niagara Falls) & do whatever. *sigh*
this song was never released on CD. only on their first cassette ep that had (if i remember correctly) 5 other songs, all of which ended up on Bargainville. I once held this tape in my hand in Vancouver, circa 1996, and I thought "meh, 12 bux for one song?"
Awesome! Thanks so much for uploading this! I won't do an official Comedy Geek review because I'm not even slightly objective. Moxy Fruvous are made of awesomeness pie. And this song packs more fun in 4 minutes than lesser acts do in their whole lives.
"Moxy Fruvous" is an ancient Romanian phrase meaning "maximum excrement."

No can do. Dr. Seuss's lawyers are better than mine. Why not just burn a cd off this version?
On a historical note, the recording studio where this song was recorded (Comfort Sound in Toronto) is being torn down after Jan 31. End of an era.

I was lucky enough to find a near-mint copy of this cassette on eBay - bought a high-end used cassette deck purposely so I could remaster it :P
