  • ALL COPD IS NOT FROM SMOKING,NOW THEY SAY USEING YOUR FIRE PLACES CAN CAUSE IT, MAKES SENSE TO ME.HOW MANY OF US HAS SET AROUND A CAMP FIRE BREATHING IN ALL THAT SMOKE.I WORKED IN A MILL FOR 20 YEARS WITH GREASE AND FIRES.WE HAD PEOPLE GO TO THE DR FROM WORK FIRST THING THEY TOLD THEM WAS TO STOP SMOKING AND THEY NEVER SMOKED A DAY OF THIER LIFE.

  • how come he did not mention NIV (non-invasive ventilation) for the very severe patients w/ COPD?

  • how come he did not mention NIV (non-invasive ventilation) for the very severe patients w/ COPD?

  • As a rule anything that goes into your lungs thats not just air in harmful and some htings are worse for you than others. Yes driving cars, study brake systems and asphalt industry.

  • everything i see in this is true however, the biggest hit is always on smoking(ok cool tell us the other things that cause this).

Like garling mouthwash, using mint, pepper mint, evergreen toothpaste and products, driving cars on roads, being anywhere near roads, working in the auto repair industry, naval, anything where you accidently or intentionally inhale fumes, Alergies, breathing plant pullans.

So you know this list is endless, your breathing now is probably causing unseen damage.

  • i just got diagnosed with copd at 28.. I am still young and already disabled, so this worrys me.. STOP SMOKING young people. I used to say I'm young and have time to quit, or that could never happen to me.. Its not cool to smoke. Would you take crack? imagine that every time you get your cigerrette fix

  • Go see the video "Improving the Quality of Life for People who have COPD" by Dr. Robert Keller the creator of MaxGXL a Glutathione Accelerator. I have a COPD and I am taking MaxGXL for 2 months now and I do not use my two bronchodilators anymore. That product is very hepfull for all kind of diseases. THIS IS NOT A SCAM.

  • Search for new treatments and studies for COPD

Participating in clinical trials helps to bring new cures and new hopes for patients.

Volunteers are usually provided with free medical service and compensation for their time and commute.

  • could teens get it that never smoked in their lives? i play soccer and i dont really have shorter breaths while playing. Somethimes i do. should i consult a doctor or it will just go away?

  • @ps3RULEZps3 Chill, you are exercising what do you expect? Come on.

  • so there's no cure, doctors could only treat the symptoms, in the end will a person with this eventually die?

  • I was diagnosed with copd when I was 29, or chronic bronchitis, and I know I have done this to myself, and continue to do so.....:-(

  • Very good information, but what about pulmonary rehab? I'm an occupational therapy practitioner and have had great results even with people who had severe COPD.

  • @HealthWiseExercise please today I ve discovered that Glucosamine+chodroitine are giving me real trouble...please tell your paitent if they are taking it ...as most COPD has joints problems..It is never mentioned on the labels only after I suffered the last 2 wks from taking them I found only one site alerting to cause Asthma worst..

  • @badgecheckin hey man i dont wana direspect but did you also smoke weed to and a lot of it???

  • my mom is 54 and has it, never quit to smoke but she lessen does it count? she refuse her inhaler/sprayer coz she felt dizziness every time she use it...is this normal?

  • I have seen alot of times that people are using their inhalers incorrectly. If she taste the medicine in her mouth, she is not getting it into her lungs where she needs it. Sometimes dizziness & jitters are a side effect of the drug. She needs to quit smoking completely.

  • I have COPD, is this like a support group. I have had COPD for 5yrs. now and at times someone to talk t o that knows what I am going through would be nice.

  • I was diagnosed last year with,COPD,and I'm pretty young 27 btw.

I know how hard it is,and I have bronchitis right now as we speak, the constant coughing, makes my chest hurt and my lungs rattle/wheeze when I take a breath.

  • A lot of people live with COPD for a long time. Good meds a good doc and an exercise or pulmonary program are basic needs to start living with COPD.

  • My mom has had copd but hers is advance copd. she is in the hospital for one week with heave meds. after 8 days she open her eyes for 1 min. so far this is the happy news. DOES ANY ONE HERE HAVE advance copd and if so what are the chances of recovery. my mom is 67 years old and stoped smoking 15 years ago

  • like you I'm hoping I can be around for awhile so I keep searchng for good mortality stories and I must say they are rare . I stopped smokng 2 years ago after a heart attack it took another year to discover the COPD and frankly I'm havng more trouble breathing now . I asked the same question and the average I got was 5 to 12 years from diagnosis with the exception of longer . There is no recovery yet but lung reduction or transplant are options . I hope this doesn't sound negative .

  • I have copd with emphysema now. I am on 3 breathers and nebulizer meds. I never have a day that is not hard to breath and it is scary trying to get air. I never paid the doctor much notice when he warned me. My worst fear has always been to suffocate ....and now I am :(

  • You dont say how old you are, I am much the same as you I am aged 54, I have led a very active life till 7 years ago and the copd is gradually getting worse, obviously you smoked as I did and ignored a lot of warnings, let me know how you are doing I think it helps to talk
