I dont mean old traditional ways. but more like its been like this for long time and to let some hiphop break a long lasting tradition, is something that most people (powwow commitees) will tolerate. yah i was bored i researched this powwow. seems to be held in the southern eastern states. i know the two girls names. have seen them at some northern eastern powwows. I guess its is evolving over there to hiphop style, I can almost promise you that this will not happen in the midwestern powwows or any other powwow that is more to how should i put this, traditional/modern style now. to many people who are into traditions.
Im all for going out and having a good time.. but in the middle of the arena is not the place or the time.. to me personally i think that is very disrespectful. i would never do.. but hey to each their own... i know my elders would have smacked the hell out of me, if i pulled a stunt like that!

I know there are several videos of what is termed Powwow Hip Hop, The Host drum should have stopped playing, the Keeper of the Circle should have stopped it, and the MC should have asked them to leave!Then they should have smudged the circle again. I am a proud Comanche woman and I believe it is up to us to honor our traditions. one of the reasons for a Powwow is to educate the public and this is not doing it.

I believe that weither the Creator struck her down or not that doesn't make what she did right and we didn't need ancestors to rise up to tell us that. I have elders that tell me what is disrespectful or not and from what you believe I can tell you don't so I will "enlighten" you. The circle is sacred and is NOT something you should act a fool in. I am only 16 yrs old and I know that is wrong. and I see adults that are willing to defend that type of action and it is sad.

i am a jingle dancer and a fancy shawl dancer...my mom probably wouldnt mind me going out there and dancing to that song because she said that powwows r to have fun hang out with old friends make new ones and dance but if i did wat that jingle dancer did i probably would have been slapped rite there in front of everybody and then probably wouldnt have seen another powwow for a long time...that was disrespectful.

I honestly was suprised i didnt see any elders get our there and yank her out. Thats not only disrespectful for our culture it's direspectful to our ancestors, she,the parents and the mc should have been ashamed of themselves. And i honestly hope our next generation will NOT go down that path of that little girl. Shame, Shame.

I know there are several videos of what is termed Powwow Hip Hop, The Host drum should have stopped playing, the Keeper of the Circle should have stopped it, and the MC should have asked them to leave!Then they should have smudged the circle again. I am a proud Comanche woman and I believe it is up to us to honor our traditions. one of the reasons for a Powwow is to educate the public and this is not doing it.

This is the most disrespectful thing I have ever seen and quite frankly the most disgusting. I can not believe that the parents, adults, or even the MC didn't stop it when they first seen it! I am a Hawammi PittRiver, and where I come from this never would have been tolerated. And to "nightsky89" fun or not that does NOT make what she did ok or even acceptable. She has no respect at all for what dancing stands for or even the pow-wow itself, and she makes that very clear with her actions.

I agree. And what makes me mad is that this is at a powwow, but theres no ndns around. Sure probably the dancers and the drummers/singers, but Look at all the whytes. Powwow is a place where there should be more ndns then whytes. The only thing I dont like about it is that they are doing in in the arena around the drum. Thats not supposed to be going down at a powwow. Now if it was somewheres else yea then you can say "they're having fun".

"they're just having fun let them express themself" one, i think you meant to say "themselves". and two, think about what you said. would it just be okay to dress up as the pope while doing drugs and having sex? didn't think so.
