heh I've been scammed out of a T2 rigged Orca with full booster set up and hardeners. About 100 t2 mining drones all in one go. About 1b loss at the time. eh you get over it eventually and just keep playing.

Soon subscriptions dies down to the point ccp starts taking big hits to there profit margin. Finally, putting ccp out of business. Mahhahahaha!!!!

@achong007 Do you ever play the game? ev0ke (Germans) are noticeable, but far from first-class power. They'd be squashed by goonfleet which are among the best scammers in the game.
@Xellith just dont believe jita local chat. check contracts carefully before buying, and dont go thru lowsec untill you are pvp fit, and know what you are doing... or go down there in a shuttle to check things out.
@williamkendrick im actually going through the EVE website to find FAQ and using the WIKI and user forums I have found to figure out what starting stats would be best for my preferred occupation. (I like to mine.. dont ask me why. its just kinda my thing lol)
@williamkendrick yea im not starting right away. the 3$ thing I picked up on steam gives me a month free play but I tried a trial a year or so back when they first introduced the updated graphics engine. Just looking over the eve online forums and youtube videos to figure out what everything is before I dive in lol. All this help is appreciated btw :)
@Xellith for really good mining, try .7 systems, or .6 if you're truly ready, the drones down there are harder.
make sure you have a shield booster fitted, with a couple of cap recharger 2's, dont use mining drones, they suck and you'll want that drone space for defensive drones (hobgoblins or hammerhead 2's)
use your lower slots for either mining upgrades (on mining barges and exhumers) and expanded cargohold 2's.
this ensures you can tank anything that hits you in mining fields
I think banning scamming would ruin EvE I like it how it is, if your stupid enough to get scammed it's your own fault scamming is it's own career in eve there are people who solely play the game to infiltrate corporations and steal everything they own.
And really, the best way to avoid being trade scammed is simply LOOK at what is being offered before you click the OK button. They can name a trade contract whatever they want or say whatever they want, but the item you will get shows up in full view on either the contract details page or in the trade window. Just use Show Info on the damn thing first! Don't be an idiot!

@drew2pac Eve online is truely an amazing one of a kind game. It is difficult to get started as the game has a bit of a learning curve but noone ever masters eve online. Give the game a chance, you will love it.

yeah alot of people don't understand the main mechanic of eve... and thats the market... Its a free market. The only way u get scammed in EVE is by not looking at all the fine print of every transaction. 4 days ago i was hanging out in Jita near a gate, a scammer tried to contract me some bullshit.. when i called him out on it in front of everyone he sent an alt to the gate in a smartbomb ship and whiped out my helios and my pod.. For some reason when i came back and called him out directly on it, everybody in Jita thought he was the coolest shit for getting away with it, disregarding his scamming..

it does have an annoying learning curve but there a rookie channel that is open to you for the firt month of the game. people are always willing to help there. however before you get pumped about this game i should warn you that you CAN'T have control of your ship by joystick. it's one of 2 things that irk me about this game. you basically orbit around your target (at your weapon's optimal range) and fire away.

@NicolaTesla02 no you can't walk around in a ship or explore planet's atmospheres (yet. dust 514 is on its way), but that's not what the game is about. no game is perfect, but if you're suggesting eve (a game where interaction takes place from one player to another in either stations or ships) is incomplete then you are mistaken; knowing what your pilot does with his crew mates alone in that ship for months is both irrelevant to the gameplay and just too much information for children to know.
@NicolaTesla02 lol and what exactly was that insult for? no ones perfect lol. no you can't fly on a planet's surface, you can't walk in your ship or in stations. but the walking around in stations may come sometime in the summer. it's not confirmed only suggested. CCP is aiming to make a "full sci fi experience" flying arounf in a planet's atmosphere a few other things that sci fi stuff are known for are on their wish list. but atm they more focused on the walk in stations.

oh also, if anyone can help me. is this game any good? a friend told me to join, but 1) i am waiting for the imac update so i can get one of those. 2) it seems a bit complex for newbies. any opinions? i have never played a mmorpg or whatever they are called

@drew2pac Eve online is truely an amazing one of a kind game. It is difficult to get started as the game has a bit of a learning curve but noone ever masters eve online. Give the game a chance, you will love it.

@drew2pac 2pac the best! ,,, if u want to play eve and enjoy it all u need is time to play. many time, unless at the begening. Why? Because u easly can play 1 year all day and be noob. Its fun anyway. ;) its not like other games where being a noob is a shit and they hate u. In eve being noob is cool. the people are protecting u (when u join in some corp) and showing u the cool stuff about eve.. there are many advanced players..

yeah alot of people don't understand the main mechanic of eve... and thats the market... Its a free market. They do that for a reason... its so commodities and everything are run by the players and the demand and supply can be corrected to the best of its ability. Its actually what makes the game fun. So yes youll have things like scammers and espionage, but guess what, thats part of the game, and some people actually do that for a career on the game and thats their fun. Its a career choice

The only way u get scammed in EVE is by not looking at all the fine print of every transaction. 4 days ago i was hanging out in Jita near a gate, a scammer tried to contract me some bullshit.. when i called him out on it in front of everyone he sent an alt to the gate in a smartbomb ship and whiped out my helios and my pod.. For some reason when i came back and called him out directly on it, everybody in Jita thought he was the coolest shit for getting away with it, disregarding his scamming..

it does have an annoying learning curve but there a rookie channel that is open to you for the firt month of the game. people are always willing to help there. however before you get pumped about this game i should warn you that you CAN'T have control of your ship by joystick. it's one of 2 things that irk me about this game. you basically orbit around your target (at your weapon's optimal range) and fire away.

@eddieisfiction what i meant was that it would have been nice to control any ship that moves beyond a certain spped with a joystick. always wanted to grab a frig and joystick and just zip all over the place:P their are mmorpgs like that, sadly they are f2p. double sadly, i may have to resort to playing them since real life is telling me i can't stay on eve long enuf to earn the money to buy plex>_<

having said that, IT'S A GAME PPL! crying and raging just because you lost game money is rather dumb and even more dumber when the reason you lost the money was due to your own lack of attention. so eve is a bit diffrent from standard games where if playr get tricked, a gm won't get your stuff back, just adapt, suck it up or leave. there is no reason to rage and insult others for their personal opinions lol.

@outlaw0987654321 You said "more dumber." I think your grammar is more dumber. I have never played any mmo's before. I recently heard about Eve, and it sounds too good to be true. Can you enter the atmosphere of planets and explore them? can you walk around inside your ship? If not, this game will be perfect when it gets to that point. Can you walk around as a human at all?

@NicolaTesla02 no you can't walk around in a ship or explore planet's atmospheres (yet. dust 514 is on its way), but that's not what the game is about. no game is perfect, but if you're suggesting eve (a game where interaction takes place from one player to another in either stations or ships) is incomplete then you are mistaken; knowing what your pilot does with his crew mates alone in that ship for months is both irrelevant to the gameplay and just too much information for children to know.

@NicolaTesla02 lol and what exactly was that insult for? no ones perfect lol. no you can't fly on a planet's surface, you can't walk in your ship or in stations. but the walking around in stations may come sometime in the summer. it's not confirmed only suggested. CCP is aiming to make a "full sci fi experience" flying arounf in a planet's atmosphere a few other things that sci fi stuff are known for are on their wish list. but atm they more focused on the walk in stations.
