The grandfather knew who Jermaine was, It's Jade that referred to Jermaine as, "Jermaine of the Jackson 5, obviously."  The father said that he was VERY pleased to meet him, this insinuates to me that he absolutely knew who Jermaine was and that he was likely a fan who attended the famed Tama shows.

What I don't understand was why the first words out of Shilpa's mouth had to be, "I'm from India." Bless Jermaine for diffusing what could have become a situation by saying, "I'm from Indiana."
