Another great one from the maestro. KJY's interlude is so subtle and just happens once in the first saranam. Chitra 's pronunciation towards the end is very distinctively Malayalam but still good. Vairamuthu's lines are very beautiful. Radha blends with the melancholy while Vijayakaanth is as usual listless.

Malayalee is political, with the language showing, and Keralite becomes just a regional thing, right? Like MGR will be never seen as a Malayalee, but Keralite, who went to Tamil Nadu... anyway, Radha was pretty, wherever she comes from...

True, I once stirred up almost that could have opened a can of worms during an Intra-Youtube-Debate saying, that Malayalam came from the Dravidian language Tamil, which is a classic language.

The other guy told me it came from Sanskrit. Then I wrote something else to end that thread!

I don't really see any true artists region of origin!

I am a Malayalee, and I believe it came from Tamil. I would like to call is Sanskritized Tamil... Tamil's rural charm with Sanskrit's poetic brilliance. My next project in life is to learn Tamil and Sanskrit. I understand Tamil pretty well, and can speak it to an extent, and read slowly. Same with Sanskrit. (But why is it that Tamil movies always have Tamil heroes and Malayalee heroines? Tamilians hate their girls or what?
