actually this is impossible because even if you find a difinitive way to get find which is lying or not, you don't know which door the liar is guarding, he could be guarding the door to heaven for all you know.

just say liar which direction leads to hell the liar has to answer and the truth teller must not say a thing because he will not lie about his identity and the question has to be answered so the liar will point u in the direction that leads to hell and then u take that door because him being the liar has accually lead u to heaven

I would take the right. It has nothing to do with who lies or tells the truth. You would never enter the gates of heaven on the left hand side of the lord. We always sit on the right hand side of the lord.

easy. i figured it out in a second. you ask them a fact, something that you know is totally true. You know that you are dead, so you ask them. ''Are my dead?''. the lying guard will say ''no'', the other one would say ''yes''.
just incase somebody feeling smart says something not so smart as ''what if youre not really dead?''..well the video said you are...and if you cant be sure, you ask for it anyways cause if youre not dead you must be dreaming, and you cant go to hell if youre dreaming. :)

@fmazerolol Well the problem with that is if you found out whos lying then you have just used the only question you could use to find out which stairs lead to heaven. :( Then who cares if the guard lied or not you still dont know where to go.

@asialeah07 lol ya, youre right, when i saw the video i assumed that the truthful guard was the one guarding the heaven door and the lying one was guarding the door to hell, but i just saw it again and saw that its not like that so...i guess you just ask ''which door would the other guard say leads to hell'' and you take that door

@Thunderbender18 what was the answer? or did they not say the answer. :( my teacher is doing another version of this riddle but with a fork in the road. you get to ask the hitchhiker one question and there are 2 pathways one leads to the good town where everyone tells the truth and one leads to the bad town where everyone lies. you don't know where he came from. i was thinking that it's a trick question like the answer to this one would be you wouldn't be given the choice or something.

@ItzIsabel. I think you just have to ask him to point to the path that leads to the town where he's from. IF he's from the truth town he'll point to the right path and if he's from the lie town he'll also point you down the right path because thats not where he's from.

I would take the right. It has nothing to do with who lies or tells the truth. You would never enter the gates of heaven on the left hand side of the lord. We always sit on the right hand side of the lord.

i'm wondering if this is a play on words type puzzle because the other guard always lies which could mean he lays down at all times because if we arent alowed to assume that truthfull guard is guarding the stairway to heaven then lets not assume anything so if this is the case then all you gotta ask is the guard thats standing up which is the stairway to heaven

The point is you dont know which one is the liar. . .
If you asked that same question to the guy who tells the truth and went the opposite way you would end up in hell.
What you have to do is ask the guy which door are you guarding and go which ever way he points. If he's the liar he'll point to the heaven door and if he's the truther he'll say the ame thing.

-- The truth teller knows the other guard will lie about the life door and therefore points to the death door.
-- The lie teller knows the truth teller will show you the life door, but he'll lie about it and point to the death door.

i just ask one guard ,i want to go to heaven witch door the others gard would told me to open. in both case ,the lyer would told me a lye about what the non lyer would say and give the door to hell.and the non lyer would tell me the door to hell since he cannot lye on the fact that the lyer would lie about the door . so once you get the hell door you take the other... simple as that .... take me 15 min ,not so simple i guess..

If you ask one 'If I asked the other guard which door leads to heaven what would he answer?', what ever they answer is the wrong door.
if you ask the liar he will point to hell because the truthfull one would point to heaven.
If you ask the truthful one he will point to hell because the liar would point to hell.

Even if u do find out which guard tells the truth, it isn't stated anywhere that the guard who tells the truth has behind him the stairway to heaven, he can also have behind him the stairway to hell

Assuming right is correct:
Liar would think Truth would say right so he would respond "left".
Truth would think Liar would say left so he would respond "left".
Go into the opposite door of what both of them say and you'll go to heaven.
