  • i'm not sure, but i think @ 0:08 you can hear someone in the crowd ask a mate "this is nitzer ebb?" and they respond at 0:15 saying "i've never heard this song before", which would make sense since this was probably one of "getting closer's" first live performances by the ebb. they didn't release "showtime" until a couple of months later.

  • War damals dabei gewesen, war wirklich geil. Gibts vielleicht noch Aufnahmen von Cat Rapes Dog aus dem Techno Club bzw. Dorian Gray ???..

  • oh, btw, i was in nsv estonia.. so, i couldn't

  • wanted to be there.. oh that swinging at last !!

  • Hammer, wie es 89 doch so abging... Da hab ich noch mit Barbies gespielt... *g* Schade, schade... Bin gespannt auf Niitzer Ebb als Support von DM... Bin beim letzten Konzert am Sa dabei... :o)

  • nitzer ebb!!!!!!

Meine heute gleichaltrigen Musik kennen solche Musik garnicht. Von Nitzer Ebb noch nie was gehört.

Am 24.02.2010 sind Nitzer Ebb Live in Dortmund. Karten sind schon bestellt.

    I

  • FOR EVER!!!!!!!!.....

  • Powerful.

  • O my godness, i can´t believe that they are the Band before Depeche Mode tomorrow were i have a ticket for.... they are Great, too !!!

  • This song brings back some great memories: the Ebb at the Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver. A room full of heaving moshers. I was right up front with my then boyfriend, and the smallest person there. Every time I started to fall under, someone pulled me back up just as quickly. The show was superb and there was a kindness and genuine community that I had never seen before or since at any other concert. A favourite, for sure!

  • Wow. I was at that show. It was amazing. Front 242 as well. Heaving.

  • Oh my god. 20 years of playing this song, and it´s still so POWERFUL!!! Great job NE!

  • Ich glaube das war im Frankfurt

  • Soooo much energy at Nitzer Ebb's shows. Once I saw them live I was hooked! Gotta see them again for the new album!

  • una joya

  • The video and audio quality are comprimised because whoever is posting this is taking the footage from the VHS we handed out back in 1990. The original footage was shot in PAL with mics back by the mixing desk. Maybe one of these days I'll connect with the guys again and get permission to release a digital copy to the internets. I also shot video's of them at the Batschkapp and Vobi in Frankfurt but this show stood out as the most awesome.

  • YESSSS, Ich war da, und es war soo klasse ;-)

  • Can't believe it - nearly 20 years ago that i had the chance to see this gig!

    thanks for uploading

  • Nice!

  • this song fucking rocks!

  • Never had a chance to see them back in the day! Damm I missed out!

  • Great!!! ... and i was in the crowd. :-) unbelieveable to see this again ... thanks for uplading all the songs from this concert!!!

  • Does anyone know if this was the first time the Ebb performed Getting Closer live? I believe this was in December 1989 and Showtime was released in early 1990. Any info on this at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • the 2nd singer sucks! The 1st one is better! they're on xtc

  • Comment removed

  • dude.. thats bon harris! hes frickin awesome!!! and an amazing programmer....nice guy too... i love both their voices.. both so angry...

  • but that 2nd guy, he's not so good. I could do without em'

  • Video quality is wanting, but it was still nice to see this, and to hear an early live version of the song.

  • geez i just wanna do some good old pogodancing when hearing this! :p Their last good song imo, everything after this kinda suxxed,

    ty for upload =)

  • God... it just rocks sooo hard...even after 20 something years!

  • Normally, I don't like live videos cuz the recording quality usually sucks... that one it great, though, you can also hear that they CAN sing... I'll never forgive myself that I missed the concert.

  • Go and spank yourself and never do that again! ;)

  • the fathers of cyber punk and great memorys tnkx

Flashback pur ;-)

  • christ, its shit getting old- i remember seeing them in glasgow on the ebbhead tour. 92 I think,

    F~*king outrageous!

  • oh... nice memories... great!

  • the only realy good song from nitzer ebb!;-)

    very cool...

  • I also like Blood Money, Fun to be had, Lighting Man, and Control I'm Here.

  • I saw these guys play @ Park levevator in Charlotte NC, many moons ago

  • it was the 13-13 club in the old park elevator building. now it's like a furniture store or something. anyway, i was there too. great effin show.

  • I remember these guys opening for Depeche Mode at Red Rocks in Denver. GREAT SHOW!

  • saw the same concert in Houston at the Woodland Pavillion. Defintely a good show but they were mcu better in small clubs.

  • AUF GEHT´S!!!

  • geil.

  • I was into these guys for about a minute in 1990 when they opened for Depeche Mode. This was my favorite song, great memories, thanks for posting this.

  • hahaha...

somewhere in the crowd i'm standing with a few pals! one of my most intense live gig experiences. NB's still so ... BOOOM!

  • Mensch, I envy you! I was only born that year. It was a good year though...Ebb's Belief and Ministry's "mind..." are two awesome albums released that year.

Words cannot convey how fucking killer this song is though :D

  • oh "electronicA". you used the gay eMpTy-V term. now i know to avoid it for sure.

it's either electro or electronic not electronicA.

  • I WAS THERE! ! ! ;-)

Great to find a video of that! Frankfurt rules...

  • god i love bon harris.... that is a freakin rivet head.

  • ne 242(pre 90's) land of rape and honey are ebm repedetive hard coherent. neubauten,tg, and sp are industrial. incoherent soundscapes seldom a hummable tune

  • Look,I am a musician AND Noise shredder,If you want ''hummable'' go listen to john denver,EVEN particlized, smashed or gurgled soundscapes are valid musical pieces..I'm not saying your gonna see some one reciting it off of a music sheet, but it's beautifull art non the less...

  • look dumb ass im just telling dave what ne and 242 have in common. you're a musician, you have no idea who your talking to, and john denver stoped tipper gore from outlawing controversial music, so shut up you idiot.

  • john denver is a clown. get real

  • well said. soundscapes are always preferable to country nasely bullshit.

  • this song still makes me dance my ass off

  • GREAT! I remember that gig very well - I´ve been there at Technoclub anniversary at Dorian Gray/Frankfurt! This was the best concert ever and the only one I rember which processed in a service tunnel of the Frankfurt airport ;-) Many thanks to the poster!

  • i still have thing for bon, he's sexy and his moves are hot!

  • today ebm SUCKS.

    long live nitzer

  • Amen my friend.

    FORCE! IS! MACHINE!

  • there's some new bands that are quite good actually.

  • like old school :wumpscut: (Inc Cannibal Anthem)!

  • how is that song? is it more industrial or is it like old school ebm?

  • What? Cannibal Anthem? It is an album as well as a song.

The album is more EBM and electronica than Industrial. (But very good)

Cannibal Anthem the song sounds like Native islander themed...

  • native islander?? wtf is that? if it's native germanian i'd support it. i'm not too fond of negroid or other ghetto chimps these days with all of the killings and rapes they're doing.

  • Just listen to the song then you will understand :P

Ok it's not electronica then, it's electronic.

I don't watch MTV so I am sorry never again shall i use the word Electronica. and besides, you can't judge a song on what genre it is-That is very narrow minded.

I like most music and almost all genres (As long as they do a good job) but that dosn't mean I regulaly listen to them...

  • ok i'll give it a listen because your name is "pooman" lofl

  • lol ok I make my username that because i wanted to see a video and i needed to have an account, but I didn't think i would ever use you-tube again. But I did and now I have a silly name :P

  • Contrary to most EBM acts from that time, that performance would still be awesome to see today. Pure and hard!

  • ...or...maybe a different top for Bon Harris haha

  • I agree. Most today's acts annoy me with their shitty voice-distortion junk, and their wannabe-evil appearance is more than ridiculous! One more reason to love "Spetsnaz" :-)

  • Word

  • well there are far better than spetsnaz.

  • What do nitzer ebb & front 242 have in common?

  • Simple. The Ebb thanked 242 and Richard 23 on That Total Age.

  • @KidChoronsom I agree... most of the new stuff is so fucking contrived and sounds like cheezy euro techno.... Nitzer Ebb are the kings and no one will ever dethrone them as the kings of EBM... i love them more so than Front 242 who are great, but never as good at NE.

  • fauck thats 1 amazing song!!!!

  • pure EBM powah!! :p

  • ONE STEP! TWOOO STEPS!

    GETTING CLOSER! GETTING CLOSER!

    ouch.. damn, me too.

  • im cumming in my pants,,,dammm i wish i was there..

  • this video is amazing. build room word up.
