i'm not sure, but i think @ 0:08 you can hear someone in the crowd ask a mate "this is nitzer ebb?" and they respond at 0:15 saying "i've never heard this song before", which would make sense since this was probably one of "getting closer's" first live performances by the ebb. they didn't release "showtime" until a couple of months later.
Hammer, wie es 89 doch so abging... Da hab ich noch mit Barbies gespielt... *g* Schade, schade... Bin gespannt auf Niitzer Ebb als Support von DM... Bin beim letzten Konzert am Sa dabei... :o)
Einfach nur Geil. Die pure Energie. Ich war 1989 gerade mal 8 Jahre alt. Mein älterer Bruder hat Nitzer Ebb rauf und runter gehört. Meine heute gleichaltrigen Musik kennen solche Musik garnicht. Von Nitzer Ebb noch nie was gehört.
Am 24.02.2010 sind Nitzer Ebb Live in Dortmund. Karten sind schon bestellt.
This song brings back some great memories: the Ebb at the Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver. A room full of heaving moshers. I was right up front with my then boyfriend, and the smallest person there. Every time I started to fall under, someone pulled me back up just as quickly. The show was superb and there was a kindness and genuine community that I had never seen before or since at any other concert. A favourite, for sure!
The video and audio quality are comprimised because whoever is posting this is taking the footage from the VHS we handed out back in 1990. The original footage was shot in PAL with mics back by the mixing desk. Maybe one of these days I'll connect with the guys again and get permission to release a digital copy to the internets. I also shot video's of them at the Batschkapp and Vobi in Frankfurt but this show stood out as the most awesome.
Does anyone know if this was the first time the Ebb performed Getting Closer live? I believe this was in December 1989 and Showtime was released in early 1990. Any info on this at all would be appreciated. Thanks!
Normally, I don't like live videos cuz the recording quality usually sucks... that one it great, though, you can also hear that they CAN sing... I'll never forgive myself that I missed the concert.
subidon de verdad y no lo que ahora venden.apesar lo bueno mejora con el tiempo.finales de los 80 y 90 lo maspara la fiesta-los front otrs que tal bailan
I was into these guys for about a minute in 1990 when they opened for Depeche Mode. This was my favorite song, great memories, thanks for posting this.
Mensch, I envy you! I was only born that year. It was a good year though...Ebb's Belief and Ministry's "mind..." are two awesome albums released that year.
Words cannot convey how fucking killer this song is though :D
ne 242(pre 90's) land of rape and honey are ebm repedetive hard coherent. neubauten,tg, and sp are industrial. incoherent soundscapes seldom a hummable tune
Look,I am a musician AND Noise shredder,If you want ''hummable'' go listen to john denver,EVEN particlized, smashed or gurgled soundscapes are valid musical pieces..I'm not saying your gonna see some one reciting it off of a music sheet, but it's beautifull art non the less...
look dumb ass im just telling dave what ne and 242 have in common. you're a musician, you have no idea who your talking to, and john denver stoped tipper gore from outlawing controversial music, so shut up you idiot.
GREAT! I remember that gig very well - I´ve been there at Technoclub anniversary at Dorian Gray/Frankfurt! This was the best concert ever and the only one I rember which processed in a service tunnel of the Frankfurt airport ;-) Many thanks to the poster!
native islander?? wtf is that? if it's native germanian i'd support it. i'm not too fond of negroid or other ghetto chimps these days with all of the killings and rapes they're doing.
Just listen to the song then you will understand :P
Ok it's not electronica then, it's electronic.
I don't watch MTV so I am sorry never again shall i use the word Electronica. and besides, you can't judge a song on what genre it is-That is very narrow minded.
I like most music and almost all genres (As long as they do a good job) but that dosn't mean I regulaly listen to them...
lol ok I make my username that because i wanted to see a video and i needed to have an account, but I didn't think i would ever use you-tube again. But I did and now I have a silly name :P
I agree. Most today's acts annoy me with their shitty voice-distortion junk, and their wannabe-evil appearance is more than ridiculous! One more reason to love "Spetsnaz" :-)
@KidChoronsom I agree... most of the new stuff is so fucking contrived and sounds like cheezy euro techno.... Nitzer Ebb are the kings and no one will ever dethrone them as the kings of EBM... i love them more so than Front 242 who are great, but never as good at NE.
i'm not sure, but i think @ 0:08 you can hear someone in the crowd ask a mate "this is nitzer ebb?" and they respond at 0:15 saying "i've never heard this song before", which would make sense since this was probably one of "getting closer's" first live performances by the ebb. they didn't release "showtime" until a couple of months later.

What? Cannibal Anthem? It is an album as well as a song.
The album is more EBM and electronica than Industrial. (But very good)
Cannibal Anthem the song sounds like Native islander themed...
