I think the reason why people are getting pissy is that in general the Foo Fighters are much more upbeat and energetic than Arcade Fire, who are really chilled and psychedelic, and so people can't handle an upbeat version of this (amazing) song. I love both bands, and I prefer Arcade Fire's version for the reason I just said, doesn't stop this from being awesome.

I think you missed the point. Dave Grohl is only covering the song as a tribute to arcade fire. Because he likes their music. He specifically states that at the beginning of this video.
