just bought a 32" vizio to replace a 27" old style tv. I'm scared that this one won't last for 10 years like my old one. these things aren't cheap either.
You are lucky, still have the sound and some picture. Mine just went black and nothing worked. Looked at internet and many many people have problems with these TV's. I guess, can be glad that it lasted 2 years.
I miss those older Sony TV's that were costly, but lasted for decades.
I am using a Vizio 20" for a computer monitor ( it is a HDTV) via HDMI cable. When I had it hooked up by VGA cable I kept getting a screen that says No connection VGA 8 not supported. My cable technician suggested switching to HDMI cable and at $87 for the cable I did so. NOW it works BUT the screen goes black while I am typing, especially if I hit the Control button on the left side of the keyboard. The COMPUTER itself become non-responsive sound continues. Space bar brings it back
cont. However when it is in black screen any video input resets and has to be restarted. I am using a Gateway new computer,(2 months old) with Win 7 premium factory installed.
Ignore what everyone's saying about bad cables, that's not the problem. These TV's and specifically this model are known to have faulty capacitors. There's 5 of them total that go bad. 2 on each of the backlight boards (master and slave) and another on the power supply board. You replace them with better Panasonic brand capacitors model FC, 470uf and 680uf are the two sizes you need, both 35 watt.
I would also file a Better Business Bureau complaint against Vizio because I think some people are putting together a class action lawsuit against them over these TV's. They resolve most of their complaints so it's worth a shot at getting some sort of refund or new TV.
All the people who say the flickering is to do with rubbish cables are completely wrong. The problem is caused by bad capacitors in the power supply of the screen and/or the cable/satellite box. Type badcaps into Google
If you take it apart i'm sure you'll find the tops bulging up.
Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I'm having the exact same problem with mine, so I sent it in after I bought new cables because that's what I thought it was at first, but that didn't do anything.
@BullzOnParade17 Are you still having this problem? If so it could possibly be your voltage inverter/ballast board it may went up thats what happen to mines the part sell for 20 bucks on ebay. Hope You luck with the T.V
my guess it could be a HDMI cable problem, you Dishnetwork and I know they use the old DVI so you would need to purchase a DVI to HDMI cable which costs 30.00. I have a tv like that same size and there is no problem..
yea... my vizio xvt 42" lcd is 4 days old... when i first turned it on, i noticed the flicker issue immediately... frame rate was not smooth.... i then made a few adjustments, and after a few hours of play, flickering no longer exists... now picture and frame rate are smooth !!! excelent sound (for an lcd) this lcd is good for the price, but is not as colorfull as samsung, sharp or sony... so far i'm happy... lets see what happens in a few months... you may have a bad model..

Sorry, not 35 watt… 35 volt.
Panasonic FC series 470uF, 35 volt
and
Panasonic FC series 680uF, 35 volt
