I heard the commentator said something about that he read something about the messerchmitt, were they were discussing(?) if it should have a radio or not, to be faster. Didnt catch it all because of all the noise
@tusenbiter It was in a discussion between Luftwaffe pilots somewhere in 1938-1939, prior to BoB, that Adolf Galland mentioned his views about radio equipment. The radio(FuG) was pretty heavy back then and since he and the rest of the German pilots from the Spanish civil war(Legion Condor) was used to hand/aircraft signals, he was convinced that it was more important to have the fastest most agile plane, than a radio. "Spitfire on my tail" by Ulrich Steinhilper is a must read.
wel duh, it has a 30mm, and what kind of match up is that? a mk II was early war, K4 is LATE war, very later war. But, the Spitfire Mk IX, Mk. XVI Mk. XIV and later variants were better then ALL Bf 109s, and on par with alot of the early FW 190s. hell, even the Spitfire Mk VIII was equal to most BF 109s. But if a Bf 109 K4 got on the six of any plane, you better be scared, 1 hit from the 30mm and ANY fighter plane will blow up or lose a wing or something.
@flintrocks : The only problem with the 30mm was low muzzle velocity. Not much of an issue for shooting up bombers in formation but more so with taking on enemy fighters.
god bless the navy/army/airforce when they heard that screaming in........!!!!! but thank god too. for the spitfire/hawker hurricane!!!!! battle of britain would have been re written..... x

The BF 109 K4 will destroy a spitfire Mk II or nearly any spitfire once it gets a chance but the Spitfire is very manuverable
