  • ive got this camera i love it!!!

  • @ModernCombat3Hax

the .DSC file is just there to tell the OS or a program in general that your SD card contains data from a digital stills camera (DSC). To find your video you will have to navigate into a folder that is quite likely named DCIM. The extension of Nikon's video files should be .MOV.

  • was this recorded with the d3100

  • PLEASE HELP!! I have a problem which is that when im editing my NIkon d3100 videos in sony vegas I never get full screen?? what to do?? always black bars everywhere .. or prefer me some editing program PLEASE HELP!!

  • mos def getting this!

  • watch my d3100 test video whith 18-200 3,5 iso 100 and dolly shots!

  • Anyone who has this camera, is it any good? because I'm thinking of buying it

  • @DrOpDeaD14x watch my d3100 test video whith 18-200 3,5 iso 100 and dolly shots!

its amazing for the love price! but if you wanna make your own settings i filming, buy a canon ;)

  • @DrOpDeaD14x I like mine I bought because it has easy settings to use for inexperienced/amature photographers. I added a 300mm lens for shooting wildlife in Montana and got some really impressive shots for a newbie. The camera comes with an 18-55mm which is enough for most people doing general shooting but get a minimal of a 300mm if you want to shoot wildlife.

  • Was this Commercial Shot on the D3100? Also, does it have an Mic audio input Jack?

  • @pr9nkaholic No you can't connect an external mic to it. And the inbuild mic is pretty bad, also you can hear the continuous auto-focus motor working while filming. So if you really want to shoot videos, you should get either a video camera, or one of the more expensive DSLR's.

  • can u make a vid on how to record video because i am clueless

  • @xXDJsmileyXx Switch the Live View to on and once youre on live view, you can press the orange dotted button on the middle of it to record. enjoy XD!!!

  • @xXDJsmileyXx mmkk thnx

  • Only if it had an external mic input too. Nikon has a great, cheap 35mm prime lens.

  • Can I manually focus while recording HD videos?

  • @caguko Yes, think of it as a DSLR with video - some DSLR's that can shoot video don't even have auto focus.

  • @wakayoda yeah I don't know anything about cameras and lenses , I'm buying this one for videos and to start taking pictures cause I like photography and all that.

  • @umar220 i believe that space among what is considered semi professional and professional is little today. d7000 is perhaps all we need. check out... freedsl r . co m remove spaces and try to get the chance to bring home a Brand New Nikon D7000

  • Such a cheesy commercial.

  • I got the D3100 for Christmas and I'm currently looking for a suitable lens. I need a lens with a good long zoom for sports photography, could anyone recommend a good lens? Also not too expensive.

  • @EllenMario What's your budget? Are you looking for Nikkor or 3rd party? Are you looking for prime telephoto or you have to have the zoom?

  • @PhotographersOnUTube Up to maybe €250, depending on the lens. Preferably a Nikkor, and yes it has to be a zoom, as it would be used for equine photography.

  • @EllenMario I just Inboxed you all the info.

  • @EllenMario i recommend you the sigma lens. it has 70-300 zoom in good for sports it also has a focus.

  • @Dracojanzero I'll give it a look, thank you :)

  • i need some help O.o. am looking for a slr cam that can shoot HD movies in at least 30fps etc, but with good / very good quality sound (like dolby or something), and have some kind of flip screen so i can vlog and see what im doing...

ANYONE know of one? or know where to shop for one?!?!

  • @nabashes

No HDSLR so far has acceptable audio quality if you are an audiophile. Nothing comes close to a video cam with good preamplifiers and maybe even XLR input. The one closest to what you are looking for is probably the Canon 60D.

  • @NikonD6 True, but for truly professional work (well, the more creative fields of it, at least, rather than journalistic), he could (and should!) carry a DAT recorder to deal with all the audio needs. That's what I'm gonna do, personally... I'm absolutely fixed on getting a new 3100 tomorrow, to supplement my D2 and D1...

  • @NikonD6 You never use onboard audio if you want to be a pro. You get a separate device to capture the audio. Get a giant squid lavalier and a zoom n1h1.

  • @NikonD6 Or 600d now :) Or save your self a couple of hundred pounds/dollars etc and get a 550d and plug it into your laptop for a completely portable screen :)

  • @nabashes you can go for Canon DSLRs. 60D 7D or 550D video mode in 24/30/60frames per second. there are mic input jacks on the side, pretty useful for people like you and me.. :)

  • @dominickodimus just searched them, they are exactly what id need D:, just wishing they were a tad cheaper. but thanks man :D!

  • i cant get mine to shoot in HD....first it would only do 720p so i messed with it and now its only like 240!!! please i need help!

  • Ridiculous. Not one asian person in this whole video... this must be one shitty camera if the chinese aren't using it.

  • NIKON D5000 OR D3100

  • okay, let me get this straight.. if you can say "nikkor" correctly, why can't you say "nikon" correctly. americans astound me..

btw, VR image stabilisation.. okay 0:40

  • i din kinda like nikon d3100..

  • god its so hard for me to choose from.. the nikon d5000 because of the scene modes whcih i really like or the nikon d3100 which has auto focus for videos and stuff. So hard to choose from

  • ¿D3100 or D300?

  • D3100 or D5000? :)

  • @threefourninetyfour

    D7000. You won't regret it.

  • Comment removed

  • @NikonD6 I have a question. Does D7000 have option to record full HD movie?

  • @sajinbl Yes!

  • @sajinbl

The D7000 records H.264/MPEG-4 AVC compressed 1080p HD video at 24 frames per second. For further information I would recommend the review over at CameraLabs -- the best I've seen so far.

  • @NikonD6 thank you very much for answer

  • @NikonD6 the problem is that the 7000 costs 3 times the 3100...

  • @BubuSnow93

Well, you get what you pay for. I checked the prices and here in the US it's twice the D3100's price at the moment. Why I recommended the D7000 over the D3100 was because it is a beginner's camera that even a constantly improving photographer can be happy with for 5-10 years. Whereas in my experience many people soon reach the limits of entry-level models such as the D3100. They then end up upgrading after a year or two.

  • Just got this today!! :) hehe

I got this and the 70-300mm lens!

I would've got the D5000 if they were still selling it, but Im very pleased with this anyway :)

  • can you manual focus in video mode :O

  • @rrgert4 I don't see why you shouldn't be able to, in fact it will be what they do on older versions or brands without autofocus in video mode.

  • how much ?? add price to the d3000 ??

  • @sakito23 ok, so the price on ebay, which would i consider getting a dslr from, if returns accepted ;D price is around on ebay now £400 - £600.

that is when it comes with 18 - 55mm lens kit.

    amazon , i would say around 550.

if your from america, look at dollars, look on ebay, trust me, ebay is thee plaace.

  • it's at the same price as his bigger brother the D5000

so why should you buy the d3000?

I got the D5000 for 4 Moth now and I'm super happy!

  • @Spaeckli yah with no HD filming

  • nikon 3100 is a much more advanced than a 3000 0r 5000 models, they are obselete.

  • @DINOSRAGERC wwould you suggest a d3100 for a beginner who wants to become professional ? if i got the camera, i would have it for a long time, only upgrading in lenses instead of bodies :)

  • neeeeekon

  • may i know how much is thiss ??

  • @FartedBadly raound about £($).575

  • @buffjnd5 hmm what about nikon 3000 ? and which is better ? sorry i m new . and i am just a student with low badged

  • im from the philippines and just got my new nikon d3100, i hope i wont regret on buying this one,,any own experiences on this dslr?

  • I finally posted some d3100 vids on my page. I mostly used a-mode. all contrast and b/w was done in the camera itsself!!

I love this so far. I will be gettin the 35mm 1.8 .

  • what is the price though?

  • @MrLalaland97 I heard about 700 bucks

  • 0:53 nice fish face

  • @0mega101

Street tests for new camera models usually start one year before the official announcement. If you knew where to look you could see some Nikon D4 prototypes being tested in Tokyo right now.

  • @NikonD6 nikon d4... omg!! tell me more, tell me more!! :]

  • @0mega101 Nikon has been praised by pro's over the years.

    Shut your amateur ass mouth.

  • @0mega101 Stop moaning.

  • is there the possibility to focus manualy or is there only autofocus?

  • @Balthasar007 both

  • I WANT THIS CAMERA SO FRICKING BAD!!!!!!! I'm going to be a photographer for my schools year book, and this is the perfect camera for it!!!!!!!!

  • @MrSecretTuber holy shet same

  • iso automatic is a crap... i dont whant , for qualitet iso most be set manualy.

  • well, show me some decent video, whats with the 3/4 second edits... ur here to sell me a video camera and ur not showing me any decent images... fire who ever made this and get someone who knows what the hell they are doing.... ur not selling me on this camera with. this video....

  • D3100 will lunch at singapore end of september price is 900 plus and i hear a rumors say that D90 will be replace by D8000 not so sure anyway D3100 is good for entry level ^_^

  • NO Manual settings on Video capture, ISO is automatic

  • @ ar4216 most like it will not have manual controls its not a pro or semi pro camera just wait for the new d90 replacement or d300x, D700s or x with the new sensors but just remember nikon never did video before ever unlike canon been doing video cameras for years and years nikon just started with the d90 and to me its a good start. lets see what everyone have to say then when the pro cameras from nikon come out with the new sensors.....Lets Go!!!!

  • the autofocus in movie mode... wow. gives me chills. can't wait for the replacement for the d90:)

  • As a grad student and for videographer, I can't believe they've already got a DSLR with autofocus. This changes things big time. Once the sensors are able to be as stable as video cameras, DSLRs will quickly dominate the semi-pro and small video production industry.

  • @HUhurdler It's unbelievable that professional cinematographers are actually starting to film with DSLRS. They offer comparable quality and an inexpensive (for them) lens system that possibly offers more artistic freedom than the confines of bulkier film systems. Even some of these advertisements are shot with the very DSLR that they advertise!

  • any better than the D5000? how much?

  • whoa... full time auto focus? I wonder how well this will work!

wonder how well the 1080p actually is in the computer

  • Nikon's answer to the T2i..... but eh...

  • @LueXiong10

No, this is a replacement for the D3000. The T2i is a different class.

  • @Ishcoa

Do you know if this camera provides full manual control over video like the T2i? If so it might be a good choice, and cheaper too.

  • bad habit of human like to compare nikon and canon if u like nikon just stick with nikon brand if u like canon stick with canon nothing to compare both is great and choose which u like and ur budget that most important...

  • @SAA6153U I could not have put this better myself.. Both Nikon and Canon are great cameras.

  • @SAA6153U thats what i be telling everyone.. and as far as video canon should be better then nikon for now cause they been doing video for a long time. and i get them even more mad when i say if you want video then get a red camera or shut up they dont say anything then.. any way good post...

  • @SAA6153U that's so true.. i agree..

  • Autofocus? AWESOME! That and I like nikon lenses more even though I own a 550d. This is very cool.

  • I'm gonna stick with my 7d. But 700 bucks WITH a lense ain't a bad price. This may be my back-up.

  • @klpeekl2000 that's extremely stuipd, get a canon as a back up camera so you can use lens'.

  • @MattSheahan890 hahaha agreed. why would you want to buy another whole lineup of lens?!

  • @MattSheahan890 I concur. This camera can be a good backup if you already own a nikon setup. Changing brands isn't cost effective. Sides, doesn't the rebel xs goes for about $500 with lens now'n days anyway?

  • Does it have an external microphone input? Is there a size-limit for each video file?

  • What is the music in this Video? :-)

  • im deciding....and this looks bad...i need to get some raw avchd from someone ...the site sample all looks stretched out...very poor quality comparing to t2i...especially on youtube...

  • No external mic plug ?, No 50 fps ? Bye bye Nikon, Welcome 550D :)

  • @CheckDizOutProd

Seriously. The video capabilities on this thing are crap compared to the T2i. You would think considering how long it took Nikon would have got it right. At the very least Nikon should have matched Canon. And I was hoping this camera would be even better than the T2i. What a disappointment.

  • @ar4216 can you just stop comparing these two brands? if you like canon then just stick with it, you don't have to talk shit about nikon cameras. & probably, most of the ppl who cmmnted on this video own/ want to own a nikon, so all the things you're saying may offend them too. so just keep those shit to yourself, f you don't like nikon. kthanksbye :P

  • 0:11 shows slo-mo, but this camera will not shoot anything higher than 30 fps, WTF? Mono audio is fine if there is manual control. Will I be able to buy body only?

  • looks good

  • Who can tell about sound quality? 44кHz ? 16 bit ?

  • Just to let y'all know... Nikon is supposed to be coming out with a D90 replacement sometime in the next month or two... If you can spare the cash (I'm guessing $1k at least, maybe $1200 with the 18-105mm lens kit). It should be awesome in every way.

  • People PLEASE. I need an answer. Should i get THIS or the CANON EOS 500d/T1i???

  • @Appleaddict22 If you can afford it go for the T2i, but if not the T1i all the way, this is good, but its just a starter camera, much like my canon rebel XS except newer and has more features

  • @Appleaddict22

I know this answer might piss you off, but you'll be very happy with both.

It comes down to how important 1080p at 30fps is to you...

  • @Appleaddict22

    Forgive me, i mean 24fps.

The Ti only does 1080 at 20fps (which is pretty silly)

Not to mention the d3100 has continuous auto focus when recording which to me is huge.

If you care about video then the d3100 is the easy choice between those 2.

  • @treysparker No no it doesnt piss me off. It makes me happy to know that i wont be missing out on too much with the T2i! Yes i know the 20fps for 1080p is a bit silly, but not many people have 1080p computer displays anyway. 720p is fine for me :) this is my first DSLR, and that's why im not really going to dish out an extra 200. Thanks a lot for your help! :D

  • @Appleaddict22 Like padlockd said, expect the Nikon D90 replacement to be announced in about a month. Same video features plus 16MP still pics instead of 14 and 6-7fps frame advance instead of 3. And i sure hope it has a top panel LCD for adjustment of f-stop, shutter speed, etc instead of this camera's configuration. I suspect it will.

However, this camera here will be very adequate for many people. Probably. We need to see sample still images first before making any final decisions.

  • @Appleaddict22 For Video get the Canon. For Pictures get this. This is very new. Like less than a week. So it may be harder to find it for a couple days. But then this camera will be everywhere! Seeing as this is Nikons newest dslr is almost a year, There will be more lenses to come out soon!

    Enjoy!

  • @trevorskates94 Both are important for me! Im hoping the video will help me out with my carreer on YouTube, and that as a camera it will serve as a great family camera. I think ill go for the Canon, since i only have by the end of the month to decide. Thank you so much for helpibg me out! :D

  • @trevorskates94 looks like this will be better for video. it has autofocus. canon doesn't.

  • @tinolangmanok2010 Good point.

  • @Appleaddict22 the D3100 isn't bad, but you have to wait for a few months for more user reviews and professional reviews of this new product,,,

better to wait than regret your purchase,,

if video isn't important to you then go look for a second hand D40,, the money you will save on the d40 you could use it for additional lens purchases....

if I were you i'll go for the Canon 550D,, Canon makes better entry level DSLR than Nikon,, but Nikon might have an edge over the Pro level DSLR..

  • @hsn423 I think ill go with the 500D. Not many human eyes can detect the difference between 15 and 18mpx. Its essentially the same as the 550D with a few tiny differences. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help really appreciate it!

  • Nikon please add a higher resolution side hinged swivel LCD screen on the next D5100 along with the HD 1080p 30fps video.

  • Sold my NIkon D40 months ago. Now I know why I'm saving my money. :D Hello Nikon D3100

  • Why do they pair these great bodies with that same shitty 18-55 kit lens?

  • Damn I just bought the d5000 a little over a month ago now...

  • @Laroza

i was goin to buy d5000 in a day or two.....

now i hav sum more research to do !!!

    shud i wait for d5100 ??? :D

  • @ragoobadshah HELL YEAH!

  • @ragoobadshah yes this does not have a hinged swivel screen if that is important to you.. I also wish for the D5100 to have the new processor and HD updates with a SIDE hinged swivel LCD screen.

  • this must be great for taking pictures..

but still, mono and no external mic jack.. :-(

but yeah, its a camera, not a camcorder..

  • @890705123 No external mic jack? No swivel LCD? No 50p or 60p? How this is better than a T2i/550D or a GH1?

  • @EluraUser but yeah, to compare it with t2i its little unfair, t2i prices a bit higher. dslrs are made for taking pictures.. still, 550d to go! yeah!

  • great camera

  • wow great.....

  • Lemon law guys (or something like it lol) ... bring it back to the store ...

  • Yes. same problem, today I bought the Nikon D3000 :(

  • @tanase1982 You should be able to bring it back to the store if it is on the same day!

  • Cool

  • Shit too... I just bought D5000 2 days ago... damn Nikon

  • Shit.
