Anyway, I was wondering: Since she is so fabulously wealthy and "only" spends her money on art, couldn't she spend a hell of a lot on charities?

Maybe she does.

In either case, she would set a great example to other rich people to follow suit.

@tepporocks What the hell are you talking about? Ever heard of a thing called "Raising Malawi" ??? Her foundation? She also in the 90s she donated shit loads to AIDs research. I am sure she does plenty more but who really needs to be like Bono? Not everyone needs to discuss where their money goes like he does. Private donations are better than using it as a vehicle to promote yourself.

But I did say that I wasn't sure, and that she might've donated to charities.

And like you pointed out, she has. And it's great if she doesn't do it just

for the publicity. Although, that could indirectly inspire others to follow suit.

However, no matter how much she has given, she still has more than enough

to be financially secure for hundreds of lifetimes.

And she could probably run a few third world countries with her wealth.

If she chose to.

@djbethell I don't think you understand the meaning of the lyrics. Essentially the song is about the fact that her daughter changed the meaning of her life, how all of a sudden she became the center of Madonna's world, instead of the lady herself. That is her "religion" ...

I totally understood the lyrics of Drowned World, hence my comment. My point being, her new "religion" didn't last long! Madonna is back being the centre of Madonna's world! (Drowned or not).
