Possibly. Unmanned is much cheaper, even if its capabilities are more limited. If we had waited until we had manned capabilities to do so, we would wouldn't have the fabulous images from Voyager 1 and 2 and later probes. Still, with the private companies efforts, and a hopeful resurgence in manned missions with NASA's return to the moon, and, I hope, beyond, maybe we will see something of the Buck Rogers future I always dreamed of. Maybe the REAL Project Orion, eh?
