This is so shit - turning a beautiful amazing life project into an attraction for rich, gawking tourists. Like everything that started as natural and pure, we now live in a man-made world where these things are repackaged in a bland, artless way. Who would not rather drink water from a clear stream than from a well-designed plastic bottle? I bet those tourists have plasic bottles on them. Shame on them all!
@aaronfromhastings Precisely. There's no escaping it it seems. So much for the right to privacy and to live a life of seclusion. If anyone knows of a way to do so; I'm in!
@aaronfromhastings Perhaps you're missing the point. Dick made movies and wrote journals, so others could marvel at a simpler way of life. And yet, Dick always kept one foot in the modern world - a knoledgeable mechanic, and a good film-maker, more skilled than most with a 16mm movie camera. He knew the best way to promote the perservation of wildnerness was to visit it, and Dick loved having guests who, like him, shared his beliefs. ps - I didn't see any plastic on my trip.
It's not a living, it's a DWELLING. The Living goes on OUTSIDE, that's just shelter. It's really not bad at all, quite homey, once you get used to a smaller dwelling. Plus it's a lot easier to HEAT!!!! If I was out there, I wouldn't build a huge log house. Why build a huge eye-sore?
Man i watched that movie this weekend and it was truley inspiring. i would love to do that. i would throw it all away and go live in the alaskan wilderness. the calm ghostly silence. truly amazing.
if you try to watch the movie. You find ever ego in the north quadrant wants you to watch something else completely different than the movie you came for. That is just great people, your just like a search engine now. Type in John Apple Seed a person & get. [Tastey apples] [Better Eating Apples] But never find the person. Great now we are a information center of DIS information.
This cabin was built in Alaska in, I believe, the late nineteen-sixties. So, um... I'm trying to think of how that relates to the south rising again but... I got nothin'.

Best book every read. Changes your life. to bad they ruined it with the American flag. He didn't pout it there and he would be disappointed. R.I.P

@CeaserTJ Yes, a WWII Naval vet and son of a WWI soldier would be disappointed with an American flag. Take your trolling elsewhere.
