Especially love the episodes with Michael Dunn and Phoebe Dorin singing together! Read the details about their relationship and all about Michael Dunn in his biography titled The Big Life of a Little Man: Michael Dunn Remembered. Warning: You won't be able to put it down once you begin reading it! Google the title for more info.
He was so good in Plato's Stepchildren, one of the sillier Star Trek episodes (the one in which Spock brays like a donkey). In the midst of this bizarre story, he was truly dignified.
I agree, he was a great actor. His real name was Gary Neil Miller, and I am proud to say that I am his cousin. In 1965 he was nominated for an Academy Award (Best Supporting Actor) for his role in the movie "The Ship of Fools". I have the nomination award hanging on my wall. For those of you who are fans of his, there is a new book about him, "The Big Life of a Little Man", written by my aunt, Sherry Kelly. You should read it if you want to know more about what an incredible guy he was.
@mastertuneman Wow!!!! So great to read your post. I'm a big Michael Dunn (Gary Miller) fan. What a brilliant guy who's left a legacy of enjoyment for so many...
@mastertuneman --- thanks for letting me know about this book. I definitely have to look for it. I still remember the article which appeared in TV Guide about him, entitled "He Casts A Long Shadow". How true!
@mastertuneman The best episodes of "The Wild Wild West" were the ones that featured the great Michael Dunn. He and West (Robert Conrad) always tried to outsmart each other. He truly got your attention whenever he was onscreen (and he was quite a charmer with the ladies in most of the episodes). I would really love to read that book . His size truly did not stop him from doing what he loved to do, and that was to become a great actor who left us much too soon. I am a fan of Mr. Dunn!!
@mastertuneman-I was wondering if he and Phoebe Dorin did an album of the songs they did on The Wild WIld West? If they did would it be available on cd? If not, they should have. The song that I liked is the one they did in The Night of the Whirring Death. Do you happen to know the name of that song? He was my favorite villain.
Rumors were that Michael Dunn died of suicide. Those have never been confirmed. He had an IQ around 180. And like someone already mentioned, Dunn was a renouned pianist...at a very early age. He wasn't even 4 feet tall.
Michael Dunn was probably the most brilliant and talented actor of TV series of that time. 35 years after his death we are still talking about him and that says already enough
i didn't know he was dead, this is my first time to spot him on the western and i fell in love with him first sight. no matter how he shin dig the others, ha.''

Though his character was in the eyes of James West evil there was redeeming qualities Dr. Loveless had.

Dunn's real name was Gary Miller. He had to change it because there was already someone by that name in that actors' union.
