By your way of thinking, David Lee Roth's Crazy From the Heat is a Van Halen record. Portrait is listed in the MM discography, but is not a solo album since it was recorded by the MM & The Spooky Kids lineup. Everything after Smells Like Children, or at least after portions of AntiChrist Superstar, is a solo project since the principal songwriters from MM&SK (ala Marilyn Manson the band) were either fired or had quit. It's not about semantics, it's a question of personnel and creative input.
