I opened up my mind Peace I could not find Then something out of the blue Said I needed you Time swept me away Merged me into pain Then something out of the blue Said you need me too Oh what joy it bring to me To know that heavens round Oh what gladness in my heart To know my love's been found Now where hope was lost Love's paid the cost And something out of the blue Said my love is you Something out of the blue Said I needed you Something out of the blue...
Thanx 4 posting! I'm normally not an emotional guy. This song literally brought tears 2 my eyes (wifey lemme cry on her shoulder *smile*). I'm goin thru family probs & joblessness with a master's degree. I'm blessed with my head up overall tho, i'm sure somebody has it worse =-)
ricisrock, my kids are 6 and 3 and they love his music as well. they just heard this one on sunday and they love it..stevie is the best song writer of the 21 centry.
I would call 'Where I'm Coming From' Stevie's first real ADULT album (and the one that unofficially kicked off an incredible artistic streak that lasted the whole decade). I wish they would have properly reissued this one on CD. Can't believe Universal overlooked it when they finally did reissue most of Stevie's 70s back catalog 10 years ago...
i remember this song being played on the radio way back in 1972....a was a boy back then....i wanted to play outside but my dad wouldn't let me because it was raining hard..so i just stayed indoors...and from then on this song stuck in my mind...it became one of my favorites...
You know (in keeping with the great mysteries theme) this song sounds like it was heavily influenced by Mcartney/Lennon and it sounds like Paul is singing background vocals but we may never know. This is a great song.
One of the great mysteries in the history of pop music occurrs at 1:27 of this tune:
Chase Totaled My Climb
Eyes Pushed Out Of Time
Nobody has any idea what these words mean, or even if, in fact, they are the correct lyrics. The printed lyrics on the album, and the sheet music deliberately omit this verse, presumably because the publisher couldn't figure out what was going on either.
sounds like CHAINS Totaled my climb, eyes pushed out of time. i can understand the phrase chains totaled my climb, someone or something holding you back. however eyes pushed out of time, who knows, hes blind so maybe hes talking about his loss of vision holding him back in life. it clearly hasnt tho. go stevie
No mystery here. Omjeremy is correct. Remember this is taken from a poem Syreeta wrote. The chains of loneliness "totaled" or ended his climb to happiness and he was pushed out of time, or in other words he sunk back into his lonely blue state of living. Kind of deep, huh? But it is Stevie Wonder you know.

Absolutely beautiful track. The genius that is Stevie. Slightly psychedelic and sweet, soft soul that still sounds fantastic.

I think you misheard. "Change (or Chains) told of my plighht / plan"
" I was pushed out of time" IS closer to WHAT HE SUNG.
