What are the plans for their drivers in future cards? (or current cards for that matter!) I find it hard to make it run well on windows with out downclocking and hoping for the best. As for Linux, don't even bother, the support was so bad for 4890 until a few months ago. On Linux I couldn't let the screensaver come up with out an error.

AMD is NOT better then Intel. Intel's CPU's have better architecture and are faster clock per clock then AMD's are.

ATi's video cards are a lot better the Intel's, however Intel is not in the market to make high end GPU's like ATi is.

intel has better technology. They use a smaller more energy efficient die size (less energy=less heat) and other tech like turbo overclock. Intel is about 1 to 2 years ahead of amd technology-wise. I hope AMD doesnt go bankrupt cause then its intel monopoly which means we'll using the same chip for 10 years

ATI is a graphics card manufacturer, AMD is a CPU manufacturer. AMD bought ATI, and if you have a combination of both in your PC, it works better than mixing AMD and nVidia, or Intel and ATI. I personally prefer ATI over nVidia because it has DDR5 memory for its graphics card (meaning it transfers info to the CPU faster, which makes a huge impact) while nVidia focuses on Memory size more. Plus ATI and AMD tend to be cheaper for overall the same quality.

Yup, I love ATI+AMD products. Very powerful combination and very affordable.

However, I've never been fond of ATI drivers. nVidia seems to have software design/driver writing down much better than ATI.

ATI = Good hardare, fair drivers

I have a hp dv7 with amd turion/ati radeon 4650 hd and i paid 900 bucks for it w/ win 7. the stats are 6.0,7.1,6.6,6.6,5.9........for the same stats with a intel/nividia laptop would have been 1500.00 easy! ati / amd just work very smoothly and the performance is awesome, I'd rather have a higher end amd machine with good performance over an intel low end machine any day of the week for the same amount of money!

You can get a socket 775 mobo for between 20-50$ but any mobo from AMD be it new or old is like 200$ and then the cpu's only get more extravegant.

I have an AMD and ATI combination in my custom made computer. I'm wondering if ATI will make 3D software for games and the Operating System like nVIDIA. Also, my Phenom II x4 920 has been running 10 Celsius hotter than it's supposed to since I installed it, and I'm wondering why there's this bullshit about voiding the warranty with Stock Fan and Cooler. The stock fan and cooler suck: recently my temps got so high it went past the max safe temp (62 C). I had to dust the PC and get a new fan.
