It's a shame they don't make shows as good as this anymore. An enjoyable show that can instill quality life lessons.... Yet nowadays society can't imply racism in kid's TV shows, or talk about God. So sad.... I kinda miss my childhood.

People, like Mr. Foley, just have way too much hate in them to see things any other way. That strong hatred blinds people to what the world can really like in the sharpest of reality. I have a racist friend. She's a sweetheart, but she likes talking bad about black dudes--Still, in all honesty, she has nothing against black people. She's racist because as of right now, her opinions don't hurt anyone (there are no black people here, so) but I bet when it starts mattering, she wouldn't care when it comes to color.

In this episode, Richie's dad's racism was hidden, and wouldn't have hurt Virgil if he didn't know about it, but it still hurt his son. If you're close enough to her, I think you should talk to her about it, and see if she's really joking or not. Sorry if I'm being too preachy.
Admittedly, this isn't the episode with the best action, but I really liked the way they handled the Racism in the writing, it feels surprisingly natural, even Virgil's dad who's been built up as such a smart guy that many of his speech-like lines still felt natural.
@7tacman7 - Crossdressing + cosplay = crossplay. I can only imagine the look on Mr. Foley's face when he sees you typical group of man-Haruhis in wigs and skirts.

@videogamester07 It could just be to show that people can be bad or good regardless of their race. Ebon has people of different races in his gang, which could also represent that.
As a kid, this was probably one of only a handful of shows I ever remember tackling the subject of racism. Now that I'm older, it comes off as a bit ham-handed and a tad corny with the ending, but it still is a great message for kids about tolerance and respecting people who are different. Wish more shows would have the guts to do episodes like this.

As a kid, this was probably one of only a handful of shows I ever remember tackling the subject of racism. Now that I'm older, it comes off as a bit ham-handed and a tad corny with the ending, but it still is a great message for kids about tolerance and respecting people who are different. Wish more shows would have the guts to do episodes like this.

@Zohranio actually my ex was kind of a racist ( not any more but she had good reason) she told me about the school she went to and she was the only white girl there with the exception of latinos/mexicans and they all treated her like garbage
when she moved to n.c she was shocked at how nice most of the people are down here
now she has a whole mess of black friends :D
so racism is not eternal
