  • I can't tell you how relieved I am that nothing will be interrupting my buying Rice Crispies. That's a huge burden lifted!

  • NOT MY RICE CRISPIEZ >:O

  • depressing...isnt it

  • thanks so much for this program tony. i have a friend who was freaking out about elenin thinking there was a conspiracy to hide it from the population. i had tried to convince him how ridiculous that was and shown him the jpl website animation etc. but you finally managed to help him. i saw your vid and as a subscriber thought it might help him make sense of it. after watching he turned to me and said he now understands that he has been brainwashed

  • Comment removed

  • Sir I really hope your right I really really hope your right.

  • If there a god let this man be telling the truth! Dude I hope your right man and if not and

  • never cared for crispys anyways..

  • Your normally great.. but your falling for the cover story..........im disappointed in your research

  • But you're taking all the delicious apocalyptic angst from us!!!

    Comet E-L-E-nin? Extinction-Level-EVENT-nin???

    That's just TOO delicious.

    : )

  • Mate you look like Dave Grohl in the Foo Fighters music video "Walk!" :D

  • you have Elenin,Honda and yu2009, all comets coming Near this fall..

  • CERN is a reversed engineered black hole. Plasma is created in black holes as matter is accelerated to almost the speed of light as it falls into it. Is it possible that dark matter and dark energy is the byproduct of the mass that falls into black holes as a quantum soup in a Bose- Einstein condensate, and was released back into our universe during the big bang.

    (for more info see video)

  • And this?

    watch?v=7CUTeMjRXUY&feature=related

  • Got brains/ What the L is this:

    watch?v=wSdo_K2ag7M&feature=channel_video_title

    watch?v=lqxUsr8xfps

    watch?v=JkO0tCOHTOw&feature=channel_video_title

  • Hey there, with all the respect, would u then please tell us why the most rich individuals in the planet - and with access to info we can't have - are buying sub bunkers room? They are everywere, are you following it? Besides, can you explain what is wrong with this v=fOWWIDT910I&feature=related ? Cheers.

  • @Elevartis What ISNT wrong with it? Apart from the bad acting, it's FULL of errors. Look, it's certainly possible a solar flare or CME could be directed at the Earth and damage electrical grids, but that show changes the "maybe" into a "definitely". Solar flares happen quite frequently - more often during periods of higher Solar activity. These periods of higher activity occur every 11 years or so.

  • I would not bet a pebble on the existence of any organic molecules on any comet.. I would not bet on much ice either.

  • Wait a minute the end of the world has happened many times, one more time won't hurt. Great camp fire stories. We're all gonna die!

  • i saw this when i was in 3rd grade im 35 now so if it was that big then its bigger then jupiter now and thats why our entire world is flooding, we have earthquackes happening that have never been before , unusual tornades, death of thousands every day .you may be right about it not comeing in Oct.but it is coming and it will be here. man destroyed EARTH ...IT WILL PASS BY EARTH AND IT WILL DISRUPT OUR EARTH....SO PPL open ur eyes its comin...and only GOD KNOWS WHEN THE END WILL BE (NOT MAN)..

  • i must say i saw this when i was in 3rd grade im 35 now so ill say if it was that big then its bigger then jupiter now

  • yeah so i"m getting really friggin annoyed at all these dumb-asses, screaming apocalypse every time something even remotely associated with a threat surfaces. and i agree that this comet is far to small to pose a serious threat.

  • do you realize how big that thing is,,,,and no one ever said it was going to hit earth but tabloids,,,,the alignments and earthquakes are no coincidence if you look at the data....

  • ok so you basically based your opinion on the writings on ONE GUY...i guess he is smarter than everyone else,,,,no one said that elenin was gonna hit earth but your tabloid,,,of course its not,,your video doesnt even cover WHY THE FUSS ABOUT ELENIN,,,so its not gonna hit but what about the other effects on earth?or was the video about it not hitting earth only?we knew that.....

  • @thegfiles No I didn't base this on one guy. One only has to enter elenin in google to see the misinformation. I did and in-depth analysis of WHY comet elenin isn't going to affect earth on deepastronomy. Please read that for the so-called 'other effects'.

This nonsense has got to stop! Elenin is a ball of gas and dirt and ice that will come - at its closest - 21 million miles. What can it possibly do? Give us a dirty look? GAAAAAA!

  • @tdarnell GAAAAAA!!!

  • @thegfiles Also you should note that in 1986 Halley's comet came within 24 million kilometers (14.9 million miles) from Earth (less distance then Elenin) and had an average of 11kms at the nucleus, compared to the 4km of Elenin. So if that didn't cause a polar shift or other natural disasters, then do you really think that this one will?

  • @thegfiles Please tell me you aren't one of those idiots that actually buy into the whole 2012 hysteria! One simply has to take a look at the idiot that predicted the "rapture" and how that ended to see whats going to happen with the whole 2012 story.

  • @thegfiles Oh fine... you'll die in 2012. Say hi to jesus for me.

  • Will I still be able to pour sugar all over my rice crispies? Because if the comet makes it impossible to do that, MY world will have ended.

  • i love rice crispies

  • Finally, some eloquence.

  • Decent point at the end there. Glad you wave off the stupid crowd's theories. Also, don't change your font, I associate it with your vlogs now! And the general formats - you definitely do the country of the Internet a service by making these, sir! Keep it up :)

  • Well that's good, cause if I don't get my Rice Krispies.. I get REALLY ANGRY! Lol great video as always. Not only are you informative, but a lot of your viewers are as well and you all give me something to think about and research after I watch them. :)

  • lol this video made me watch the movie Armageddon...it was epic.

  • Did you just try to calm us by saying that lots of other stuff would come much, much closer than rather close and we wouldn't even notice it?

    Thanks... :-/

  • The human capacity for stupidity continues to amaze me.

  • I swear that End Times article got the 'theory' from that Michael Bay film.

  • ...and as soon as we get into 2013, all the nut jobs will be talking about will be 2017 or 2035.

  • cosmetic dust:) dont scare me with eminate comet collision

  • You poor guy, it's pretty easy to see how annoying the 2012 issue is to you. I tend to agree - sensationalist pseudo-journalism is going to keep fanning the flames until the very end. Then after that - well, we'll all be dead, so i guess there is no "after that..."

    KIDDING!!! :-)

Still, I can't help but to wonder what the -next- "doomsday" is going to be all about. I've seen at least 5 of them in my lifetime alone (the alignment of the planets back in the early 80s, y2k, etc... etc... etc....

  • God I hate ignorant people. I can't wait for this 2012 bullshit to be over with.. Thanks Tony, good video like always.

  • 4:57 and I can feel sadness on faces of those who wanted world to end in year 2012.

But other than that - another great clip.

  • word. tell that to japan.

  • Keep looking up :)

  • There has been like a billion comets flying (relatively) close by Earth in the past. Why is this one suddenly significant?

  • @Jonassoe

maybe because it's the only comet in the area at that specified time?

  • If enough people believe that idiocy, the dollar might actually crash. (self fulfilling prophecy) I'll get prepared to buy dollars in the fall :) just in case.

  • @lizzand The coming dollar crash has nothing to do with whether people believe in elenin or 2012 or whatever. It has everything to do with the big banks desire to change the world to their 'new world order' model, set up a world government, world bank, destroy the middle classes and introduce a new global currency.

  • ok plz tell me this isnt nibiru cuz on jcattera's youtube page hes got this same vid up but a guy is talkn bout they coverin it up wit this "elenin comet"

  • @chrunks101 The only place you'll find nibiru is poorly written science fiction ;-) So no, comet Elenin isnt Nibiru ;-)

  • @chrunks101 Hey,101 . Here's the straight story (on all this stuff). Google: Nibiru collision (Wiki). It's a one-page read on the whole story of planet x (Nibiru),comet Elenin, conspiracy stories.....and a crazy woman named Nancy Lieder. She's the one who started this crazy internet story(Nibiru).....and she's the one who was going around telling people to kill their pets (back in 2003) when her cult (the Zetans) decided that the world was going to end (YT video: Nancy Lieder kill your pets).

  • @sneakerset thanx man ima look into this

  • I dont want to sound like a skeptic to your science. HOWEVER, how in the world can you explain all of the significant earthquakes that took place, EVEN before its discovery, as comet elenin aligned with earth and the sun. I mean come on, you want to just say coincidence? also the nasa buzzroom shuts down for 3 months now after posting an updated trajectory? are you SURE the numbers they're providing are legit? who can you REALLY trust now a days? just sayin....

  • @SmolkaProductionz

The Earth is going to be just fine in 2012 and those years ahead, don't worry..

  • @SmolkaProductionz It's a good thing to be skeptic to scientific findings, but try to be skeptic to wild conspiracy theories as well.

  • Taht poor super tanker in 2012 :)

  • I love how bluntly honest you are to the 2012 conspirecy theorists. It made me laugh. =-D

  • I hope you are right, but there are some questions about comet elenin which maybe you could take a stab at:

    1. Can you comment on the apparent elenin-sun-earth related earthquakes?

    2. Are there any notable objects following elenin which could hit earth?

    3. Why has elenin received NO media coverage from ANY mainstream media sites? do a google news search and see for yourself, not a word. I find this strange as hale-bopp got a lot of coverage before it arrived in the skies.

  • @vyperius 1) look up earthquakes on wikipedia to see just how frequent they are. Finiding one somewhere in the world on any particular day is easy.

    2) Not to my knowledge

    3) It's a small comet and wont be visible with the naked eye. A story like that just doesnt sell newspapers unfortunately. Astrology gets a whole page, but astronomy gets zip. *sigh* Hale-Bopp was one of the brightest comets in decades, and was visible with the naked eye for months - MUCH more exciting than Elenin :-)

  • @ferrett78 Leonid Elenin quote: "I used the comet C/2010 X1 (Elenin), as it has been adding to robustness in terms of very strong seismicity since 2007...The Elenin will continue intensifying the Earth's very strong seismicity until August-October, 2011. Approximate forecast of earthquakes based on my discoveries is feasible. This demonstration proves my hyperresonator concept..."

Magnitude: 6 on approach and 0 at selected locations at dawn - brighter than Hale-Bopp for some lucky early birds.

  • @vyperius Every reputable site Ive seen (ie: not conspiracy blogs) states that the brightest it is expected to reach is around +6.4 to +5.8. Thats about the same as Uranus, which means you'll need binoculars in urban areas, or decent eyes on a dark site.

As for the quote, it only appears on conspiracy blogs as far as I can tell, and even the link to the "paper on Cornell University Library" seems pretty dubious. (ie: fake)

  • @ferrett78 Magnitude info was from elenin.org I don't know if this is reliable or not other sites just say around 6 which I agree is unspectacular. The paper exists I've read it but sorry I made mistake its written by Mensur Omerbashich not Leonid Elenin, its titled "Astronomical Alignments as the cause of M6 seismicity" if you want to google it and have a read.

  • @vyperius Thanks :-) I actually went to the site where it was originally published (according to 'abovetopsecret') and decided that, perhaps not surprisingly, it looked fairly dodgy. Certainly not the type of site I would be sourcing material from for an academic project, for example. Since the site itself was of a dubious nature, I decided not to read the actual paper - to me it appeared to be fabricated to look authentic, which is never a good sign :-)

  • @ferrett78 If you google "Mensur Omerbashich seismic" he appears to have written several other scientific articles talking about the relationship between earthquakes and celestial objects.

  • @vyperius Thanks. Judging from the search results, the paper being discussed isnt actually published in a Journal or peer-reviewed in any way... It looks to me like he's picking major earthquakes and finding an alignment on that day between 3 celestial objects - not a terribly difficult task really. eg: his example for (3 days before) the japan earthquake is Elenin-Earth-Mercury. The effect of this alignment (gravitationally) on Earth would be practically zero.

  • @ferrett78 I agree and that's why I never bought the simply gravity explanation because comets are so small, but its not just gravity as such its this "georesonator" concept he talks about. I don't know maybe its garbage people are looking for an explanation for the increase in seismic activity and maybe they are clutching at straws with the elenin connection, I guess we will find out in September.

  • @vyperius Potholer54 actually put out a great video on a similar subject just a few days ago. There is no real increase in seismic activity - I think its more to do with people's awareness increasing of overseas earthquakes more than anything else. Even a look at USGS will show that there is no increase.

Earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 are also far more common than most people believe - even Wikipedia has a table of magnitude/frequency on its "richter scale" page, I think.

  • @ferrett78 I have to disagree with you there, I've looked at the USGS data for 6.0-6.9 there is a stark increase this year - 151 in 2010, 114 already in 2011 and we are only 4 months in, if the trend continues we could hit 400 this year that is a massive increase and far more than any year we have stats for. Same for 5.0-5.9. If you multiply 7's and 8's up for the whole year, again assuming the rate of quakes continues, then we could have record figures for these too.

  • @vyperius I recommend watching this:

    /watch?v=HaFop23xWUA

He covers issues like stress transfer, etc.

  • @ferrett78 you sure that's the right video? seems like a bunch of clips laughing at people for being concerned. PM me the whole link.

  • @vyperius It's 11 minutes long? Just concentrate on the parts where he's dealing with USGS data, etc.

Besides, making the prediction that there will be an Earthquake near Japan "because Angels told him" is worthy of ridicule. Japan is one of the most geologically active areas in the world. If I predicted the Sun will rise tomorrow morning because fairies told me, I'd expect to be ridiculed too.

  • @ferrett78 Yep I know, and I already quoted some of the stats above as I referred to the same page of data - if you can't see an increase for 2011 emerging, I suggest you take another look. The argument that we are picking more up might hold for past decades, but not for the stats for the last 10 years. I know quakes come in groups. Do a google image search for "earthquake graph". Let's not start on angels...

  • @vyperius As I suspected, the graphs show a minor increase over the 1990s, and thats about all. There are also a bunch of conspiracy sites showing a graph with a major increase, but thats a graph of the number of "SELECTED quakes of historical interest" - ie: the number of quakes deemed significant by the USGS, which of course will increase dramatically with monitoring technology - which it does. Overall, trends seem to be fairly stable across most of the datasets, just as the USGS says.

  • @ferrett78 You're correct (about monitoring technology). Some of the newest tech (LIDAR,InSAR,and UAVSAR) is featured in a recent NASA press release: (Google) Mexico quake studies uncover surprises for California. Incidentally, the overflights were conducted by NASA-DAOF using the Gulfstream III (home-based in Palmdale,Ca.) in conjunction with CalTech .

  • @ferrett78 There's a USGS graph with green bars you must have seen, shows a huge increase for 6-8 mag quakes since about 2000, looks like a significant increase to me. Not sure how you can deny this pattern. From USGS: "According to long-term records (since about 1900), we expect about 17 major earthquakes (7.0 - 7.9) and one great earthquake (8.0 or above) in any given year." Their stats show 8 (7-7.9) already but that needs updaing, they are missing at least 3, and we've had 1 great quake ofc.

  • @vyperius The graph with the green bars is the one I referenced - its a graph of 'selected quakes of historical interest'. Of course there are more of those recently - populations are larger, there is more monitoring systems worldwide, etc. Its NOT a graph of the total number of quakes of that magnitude - that graph IS available on USGS, and the increase is nowhere near as dramatic.

  • @ferrett78 I ran out of space, stupid little comments box! The 3 quakes I refer to which haven't yet been added to the USGA stats for 2011 are the 7.1 today off the Loyalty Islands and 2x7's which hit Burma in quick succession late March, though these two may have been downgraded since. Even wiki is showing 9.

  • @vyperius It's no surprise that the quakes are happening relatively close to each other. As one major quake occurs, it transfers stress to another part of the fault-line or tectonic plate. When the stress has been released, the quakes will become less frequent. Sometimes this process takes years to complete, though. The point is, even if this year is above average, other years are below, and there is no long-term change in frequency.

  • The non-scientific naysayers will grasp at every possible chance to predict disaster. I guess they are trying to justify their pathetic existence by scaring other people.

  • I recomend: youtube.com/watch?v=jhGEW6FwSJM

Open your eyes - its coming, it is not theory.

  • @manaen100 what?, is that a video or something?

  • I like how you show the english units on screen while stating the numbers in metric.

  • the deep sigh of despair says it all...an idiot whos making some apocalyptic video will be getting more views, excitement and ultimately complete wrongness than this. as always i quote the man himself bertrand russell "The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts" some of the time anyway

  • To be terminologically correct. The idea that comets etc. were a source for organic molecules relates to abiogenesis and not panspermia. Panspermia as an origin of life on earth is a different theory in which life originated on other planets and was transferred to the earth by asteroids. That life must already have prospered on other planets so that when these planets collide asteroids would form carrying extremophiles.

  • @BioNRGy im pretty sure we all know what he generally meant, come on buddy

  • @jackofeet1000 That's why my humble comment started with to be terminologically correct. Of course Tony knows what he's talking about. I'm not criticizing him I just thought it was worth pointing out. Not everyone knows about panspermia.

  • @BioNRGy Yes, well put. I should have been more accurate but I tend to speak fast during these vids and I'm not always as precise as I'd like to be. Panspermia is related to comets in the way you've outlined above, which is what I meant. Thanks!

  • OMG I'm eating rice crispies while you said that!

  • @HGSpaceTime check out 2012hoax(dot)org/elenin Its just a small comet

  • I'm with felixthehuman on red dwarfs- I'm fascinated by the potential habitability of worlds orbiting red dwarf stars, particularly after all the attention Gliese 581 has had in recent years, and some of Kepler's recent discoveries. Another topic I'd like to see is on co-orbital asteroids, like 3753 Cruithne.

  • @dmfalk I'm finishing a vid on red dwarf stars now. 'The Embers of Creation' should be out later this month

  • you are my favourite person on youtube :)

  • I found this paper to be of interest although mostly beyond my comprehension. I thought you might find it interesting also, - it can be downloaded as a pdf from the top right hand corner. just do a google search for "astronomical alignments as the cause of ~m6+ seismicity"

  • @jasebishop Dr. Mensur Omerbashich PhD !! (LOL) The "georesonator" and "hyperresonator" theory. Mensur is being quoted at numerous websites (including the Realist). His "webpage" looks extraordinary.....until you get past the first (three) paragraphs (he launches into an anti-Zionist/U.S. govt. rant). He claims he's a "lead geodesis" at Berkeley (it's on his affiliations list). I've checked the Berkeley records....nothing,nada,zip.

  • Will we get a meteor rain when Earth crosses elenins orbit path?

I think some people have misunderstood the Mayan calender. As far as i know the Mayans predicted the end of a cycle in 2012 with a devastating climate catastrophe, where rain and floodings would kill their civilisation. Not a giant meteor or anything like that.

A sudden poleshift might kill us aswell. But i dont think that will happen within next year.

  • Ted you're super!! i'd like to be able to hang out with you, but i'm on the other side of the Atlantic!!

  • Rice crispies..... damn it, now I want some.

  • Its nice hearing about these things from you, there not always on TV.

  • If someone will destroy life on earth on 2012,

most likely it will be some overly religious nutjob.

  • Ok, so here's some stuff I'd like to know more about that has nothing to do with end times: red dwarfs, polar/relativistic jets, why is the great red spot stable, and what challenges do astronauts face outside both the atmosphere and earth's magnetic field?

  • Wow look where the 2012 thing has gone...started as a myth where the world will end in 2012 due to the Mayan calendar ending at that date, then it went on to a planet coming around every 3600 years or so, stuff about aliens, and now this...

  • Thanks Tony, I will sleep well tonight!

  • Says you.

  • I am saving for a telescope to photograph this but now you've said it wont be spectacular visually. Guess i'll use the telescope for other Astrophotography. I won't lie iam disappointed.

  • I wanna pull my hair out each time these guys drivel about the end of the world. Why don't they end their miserable lives by themselves instead of waiting for the apocalypse.

  • Here is a thought guys;

If the ancient aliens theory is correct, then aliens visited earth in our past. But to travel from one star system to another, you got to protect your "mothership" from the interstellar debris. So the only way you could protect your mothership would be to build your mothership inside an asteroid. That way, you have asteroid "rock" protecting the outside of your ship.

So comet Elenin, or other comets could be a mothership!

  • @john37309 It could still crash....

  • @john37309 Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles have already been down that road....along with 39 members (the Heaven's Gate Away Team) of their belief. They convinced all those people that an "interstellar starship" was trailing the Hale-Bopp comet in 1997,and the outcome of their fantasy was pretty grim.

  • My rice crispies are in danger!

  • @psych0 Fuck the rice crispies. HIDE THE TWINKIES!

  • Here is a news flash for you, this inbound object is over 40,000 Kilometer wide and growing Earth is only 12,756 Kilometer wide, Do The Math, you ignorant fool. LOL

  • @HGSpaceTime Wait, what...

40,000 km wide comet? Growing Earth?

    Hahahahahahaha.

  • @Saukko31 Sorry I was wrong, Spaceobs observatory now reports Elenin size has increase to 80,000 kilometer wide, Earth is only 12,756 Kilometer wide, Growth rate confirms object is gas giant as comets do not grow like that at ! AU out, so oder your party supplies now.

  • @HGSpaceTime Again, what are you talking about, from spaceobsDOTorg's comet Elenin faqs, says that the diameter of a comet is 3-4 kilometers. Are you mistaking the coma, the dust cloud surrounding the comet (which happens to every comet) as the actual comet?

It is an ordinary comet, it is not possible that there is an unknown planet near the solar system because we would have observed its gravitational effects long ago, Uranus and Neptune were found with this method well over a century go.

  • @Saukko31 On March 2 Elenin, Earth and Sun alignment generated two Sun Spacetime conduit elongation event over China this event confirmed to me that a massive object is inbound to perihelion with Earth Sun, you may buy small 3-4 Km comet cover story if that makes you comfortable, but not me, as this giant nears perihelion Earth geological events June will tell you the truth, sorry.

  • @HGSpaceTime Go away and take your tin-foil hat with you.

  • @HGSpaceTime Sorry, Im going to have to side with every professional and amateur astronomer on the planet with this one, rather than whatever internet site came up with that particular story. Try asking a physicist what a "Sun Spacetime conduit elongation event" is, and pay close attention to the blank stare or perplexed look on their face.

Elenin is a small, unremarkable comet.

  • It'd be interesting to know if you have anything to say about the 1 dimensional universe theory.

  • @tsjoencinema I'd really like to hear thoughts on the 1D universe theory as well.

  • I guess you miss the part where it went from 2 km coma to a 45,000 km to a 80,000 KM COMA. That it pick up some friends on the way thought two asteroid belt. Have you look at space orrb and what the finder of the comment says. Have you run the numbers on how it grows! It has not past Mars and it is big so just how big will it get and what will it to to the Magnetosphere

  • The comet may not cause the world to end, but certainly cause some hysterical ignorants to shit their pants.

  • *buying*

    Lerning to spel stil.

  • Phew! I guess I can stop buy rice crispies now. Keep up the good work.

  • Your so awesome Mr.Darnell!

  • I'm glad it's not going to make it so I can't buy rice crispies anymore.

  • do one on Apophis 99942 :D

  • @hypock1 He did: watch?v=LmVpx8P4GHM

  • Btw, Mr. Darnell.... did you watch the NASA video on Gravity Probe B ?

  • I love rice krispies mmmm.... oh sweet vid as usual

  • I'm always down.... for "duck and cover" (The San Andreas fault). Hey, thank you for the fine video,Mr. Darnell. Let's hope at least (one) follower of Nancy Lieder doesn't kill their poor dog (like her last pole shift call). The latest news on Elenin is: Dr. Mensur Omerbashich (I'm not making this up) has declared that Comet Elenin is actually a "Dwarf Star",and that NASA is currently conducting "Psy-ops" (to suppress the terrible news). His prediction: Pole shift. Mensur's web site is a hoot.

  • MY RICE KRISPIE TREATS ARE IN DANGER!

  • So funny

  • that guy looks like my dad

  • Of course the comet won't end the world in 2012 - Cthulhu will.

  • @Danny77uk Hail Cthulhu!

  • @Danny77uk

Yes, yes. The stars will probably be right by then. I just hope I will be devoured first so I won't have to witness the ensuing horrors.

  • @Danny77uk Yes, H.P. Lovecraft is the guy....

  • @Danny77uk

Are you certain? I heard JESUS is destroying the world in a rapture, not the Dark Lord. Destroying the world is much too evil for Cthulu. This requires GOD. No one knows the time or day of his coming, except maybe for every goddamn christian ignoramus on the face of the planet who thinks the world is going to come to an end during their own lifetime. Idiots.

If we suddenly get destroyed by cosmic forces, there's not even going to be a chance for anyone to say 'I told you so.'

  • I can't wait for 2013 so then everyone will shut up.

  • Could you do a video about Apophis 99942

  • @12ninjacrazy he already did:

    youtube.com/watch?v=LmVpx8P4GHM

  • @12ninjacrazy He's already done that I think.

  • @12ninjacrazy I did one already. Look up The Apophis Asteroid: What you need to know. I made that a few months ago.

  • End of the world theories are great, I had my whole grade back in highschool unable to do anything for a double-english period because "the world was goign to end"

The teachers ended up just leaving the classrooms because they'd lost control. bwahaha. :)

  • The Mayans predicted it. "Elenin" is really "El Niño" and the Mayans said that it's going to destroy the world --DESTROY THE WORLD! Oh, yes, it will! IT WILL!

  • how the hell can people still believe that 2012 bullshit its amazing

  • According to certain 'sects', we arent going to make it as far as 2012 anyways - apparently the rapture starts in a couple weeks time... Im sure the fact that the same bunch of people predicted the rapture quite a few years ago and put the lack of civilization ending catastrophes down to a 'mathematical error' will have no influence on the public's judgement regarding the accuracy of their claims ;-)

  • Just to put my opinion regarding conspiracies into equation form...

reading + education > conspiracy theories.

  • @ferrett78 conspiracy theories are born from a lack of evidence, hence 9/11

  • @BrickUnit I actually have a bit of a fondness for looking into conspiracy theories though - in terms of looking at the evidence involved in what they describe. Im actually yet to come across one that doesnt dissolve when the actual evidence is examined though. UFOs, 9/11 conspiracies, "climate change conspiracies, 2012, etc. Some of them are amazingly lacking in anything approaching 'evidence' - it surprises me that people believe them.

Some are almost amusing in their ridiculousness.

  • @ferrett78 You mention 911 conspiracies, would you mind telling me exactly what makes the theories ridiculous? Surely building 7 collapsing straight down symetrically into it's own footprint from fire isn't ridiculous now is it? Or definetly the firefighters telling everyone to "Get back the building is gonna blow" isn't odd? How about the thermitic residue found in all 3 dust samples for a good example of ridiculous? You tell me what part of ridiculous doesn't the official story include

  • @ferrett78 yes but you have to remember they do have a lot of creditability, for example, operation northwoods 1962 was a government plan to carry out false flag terror attcaks on american soil to be blamed on cuba to initate conflict, but kennedy wouldnt do it, hence his death, this gives 9/11 conspiracies lots of credit ya know

  • @BrickUnit Not particularly. Just because a particular gov't planned to do something 50 years earlier doesnt give any extra weight to a theory with little to no evidence in support of it now. eg: if my grandfather planned to rob a bank 50 years ago, and there's no evidence connecting me to a similar bank robbery committed today, it's hardly logical to go accusing me of committing it.

  • @ferrett78 but the evidence points to the U.S government, the FBI didnt list osama bin laden on their website in connection with the 9/11 attacks, why? because they said they didnt have enough evidence to prove it was him, yet we mudered him, started illegal wars and forced a patriot act and TSA, dont even get me started on 3 skyscrapers falling at free fall speed, it doesnt happen

  • @BrickUnit Sorry, everything that happened in the towers is perfectly consistent with the laws of physics, no matter how much the conspiracy sites try to convince people otherwise. You cant just say "well he's not on their website so obviously he didnt do it" and call it case closed. In any case this is a channel devoted to space news, not 9/11, so I prefer to discuss things which are a bit more on topic :-)

  • @ferrett78 fair enough, we can leave it at that, but ask yourself this, why did firefighters and first responders find molten pools of steel at the base of the WTC after collapse? what caused that?

  • @BrickUnit Are you aware that research shows an average house fire can burn almost up to 1000 degrees C? And that, depending on the carbon content, certain construction steels actually melt at a lower temperature. In addition, accelerant (eg: jet fuel) will increase the temperature of a fire. Finally, there were other metals present with lower melting points (eg: a whole plane made largely out of aluminium, etc). Its easily explainable using physics, not conspiracies.

  • @ferrett78 half agree. There is always more to the whole picture than the initial evidence suggests purely because of the amount of underlying reasons most of which will only be known by the one who profits most from the situation, but about 99% of all conspiracies are made up by nutcases.

  • I can't wait for 2012 to be over so I can see the looks on these people's faces! XD

  • Maybe close enough to get some comet dust?

Gotta prepare for a welcoming party for the new bacteria...

  • All this 2012 crap is so dumb, when December 12, 2012 comes around, we're all going to live through the day, onto December 13, 2012 and continue our lives, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. Thank you for the video Tony, great work as always!

  • .2 AU.. Yeah close enough to touch :D

  • I wish critical thinking was part of the of the educational system.Maybe then we wouldn't have soOOo many crackpots out there.

  • yay science

  • wait so people actually think comets are capable of destroying the earth? holy crap people are desperate for conspiracies

  • @schmidtbag "wait so people actually think comets are capable of destroying the earth?"

Actually, I believe that comets are capable of destroying human civilization as we know it. It's just that the odds are very slim that one will hit us soon. So, in the meantime I fear the destruction that philosophers like Alvin Plantinga will do the minds of America's youth:
