  • I'm in Austin too, and have been uncontrollably depressed lately. I'm also cold all the time, and have mild eczema all over. Do you know of any programs or anything in the area for people without much money?

  • detachement ,,,,,,,,dont beleive your thought .......take a walk .......wait later to think over again ........stop eating fast for 2 days;;;;;pray ..........observe a animal play with it ....spend time with children their pure and perfect...

  • i really like the way u explain it =)

  • Tao of Chance The art of overcoming traumatic situations could be a great read for anyone who is depressed reading it made me feel better.

  • I keep telling my mom and dad this but they don't understand and don't believe me I'm tired never want to eat and I fall into a thing were I'm starting to see things that aren't there I want my life to end from this depression that is eating my life I used to be so active now nothing makes me happy I've lost interest in everything and u can't remember what I did last night help me someone

  • I feel my so-called 'Depression' is caused by either the Thyroid or something along those lines. What my doctor doesn't seem to understand is that I feel awful, I do feel depressed now and again because of the effect that feeling awful all the time has on my life but for the most part I just think and feel the way most people would do if they say had a bad hangover or cold all the time.

  • If you are feeling depression, anxiety or fears first get rid of the caffiene. It may take a while before it comes out of your system. Caffeine (also chemicals) concentrates in your tissue fat and slowly leaches back into your bloodstream causing depression. Processed foods with chemicals and preservatives also cause depression. Clean up your diet and eat natural organic foods like your grand parents ate. Back in there days these problems did not exist These conditions are all man made.

  • There's a small and excellent online depression support group called Depression Hangout that is always open to anyone who is struggling with mental health problems (not just depression). It's run in its own chaotic way by its members who meet regularly in the chat room and it's a great place to seek and provide help and support, make new friends and even just have a laugh. (We all need that too!) To join just go to depressionhangout-dot-blogspot-dot-com.

  • its probobly because people have tense breathing muscles, like their diaprahm and stuff like that, so they dont breathe properly. you can't fiddle around with it though, you have to leave it and hope it goes away. the more you try and make a certain mucles relaxed the worse it gets.

  • If what your doing isn't helping you. Try what I have "Jesus". 100% success rate.

    Bless you.

  • Every morning my stomach hurts, like I can feel the acid burning it,I grind my teeth and my eyes hurt alot,I'm not sure if it's fatigue but I can't find anything matching my symptoms, also I have dark circles under my eyes, and my skin looks tired and old,I'm 22 and feel like I'm 50..

  • I was diagnosed with Hashimotos' hypothyroidism, drugs didn't help at all, I was on Synthroid for over a year and just kept worsening, I was very depressed and extremely tired all the time.

Eventually I turned to alternative medicine and nutrition. Started using a Rife machine and through it I found out I had a very serious infection of Mycoplasma. After aggressive treatment my thyroid disease actually went away. Other things that helped greatly were iodine supplementation and exercise

  • i have hyperthyroid. and at first it was small. but i keep on forgetting to take my pills and like i guess its getting bigger thts wat my mom is telling me i'm really scareedd! like really i dont know what to do. any suggestions?

  • oops, I meant applied clinical nutritionist I think you said your official title was. Your absolutely right about blood sugar, I gave up the sugar addiction a few years ago and it really has helped me alot.

  • Thanks for putting up this video Dr. I have had my fair share of thyroid issues and appreciate people like my husband and physicians like you who are supportive.

  • I think my adderall might be worsening my thyroid problem, but my mom keeps pressuring me to take it. I'd really like to be independent of all long-term medications.

  • @ncf

    I'm a pre-med student, I know what I'm talking about, but I'm no expert . . . yet :)

I applaud your attitude. I think you are right on. My suggestion: Keep track of your thyroid levels. Even if that ends up being a life-long issue, medicate for that because it's simple and effective (thyroxin, etc) As for the psych meds like adderall, the less you have the better. Diet, exercise, and good attitude will cure the majority of America's woes!

Be strong like a tiger and fend for yourself.

  • I got a thyroid problem that I'm trying to fix with proper nutrition.

Start to eat vegetables ONLY, no meat, make juices of green vegetables with fruits, no more sugar, eat only SEA natural salt (not industrial salt), drink water very much, more than 5 liters/day, go walk hard 1/2 hour ALL mornings, buy 1 ORGONITE and sleep with it, and 1 orgonite pendant to wear all the time. 4 yrs.ago (age 59) I was diag.&Rx'd Aderal f/ADHD. I MUST say even tiny doses effectively destroyed my mental health as I also developed Morgellen's AND dyslexia!

Terrorized, I 'tracked-down' the partial culprit & QUIT th'Aderal Rx! It took 6 very long mos. but finally some 'normalcy!'

Tho dyslex got worse & low-level paranoia am still much better than I was. I'm 62 now. //~_~\\

    Luv 2-u ...

  • What about low testosterone how does that effect stuff.

  • low testosterone affects hunger and gives many feelings of depression. i had very low testosterone due to low weight. i had no interst in anything, losss of muscle mass, i looked 6 or 5 years younger than my age, i am nineteen but i looked pre pubescent! I was put on anti depresents and am still on the testosterone though.

  • What about Adrenal exhaustion?

  • Look for 'MACA powdwer'

  • Honey, its STILL an AMPHETAMINE. Its very addictive. Just be careful.

  • my doctor just prescribed Adderall XR and I feel awesome now.

  • Adderall is an "upper". Its reallly Ritalin which is prescribed for ppl w/ADD/ADHD.

Its basically an amphetamine. It will make your heart race too. Its not good for ppl with heart disease or high blood pressure. It can sometimes be given to a person with depression, but its for short term use only.

  • I have hypertension, but it's controlled with medication. It was given to me for weight loss and to give me energy

  • fantastic information.

  • thank you doc...you answered all of my questions

  • i love sex. U

  • My anti-depressants make me feel tired and sluggish.I'm trying to slowly get off of them.If I just stop taking them, then I feel really awful and withdrawn.

  • @amiterisu How are you doing now??

  • YOU ROCK !!!!

  • Why is Ritalin prescribed? In Australia, it is prescribed for children who are labeled ADD or ADHD. I would never consider taking it,nor would I let my child take it. Do the research people, it is not a friendly drug. Thyroid function, it controls alot more than I realised, until lately. :-)

  • Thats really good information. Do you have your own youtube page??

  • I'm curious. Have there been any studies as to thyroid problems being a side effect of antidepressants or other psychiatric drugs?

  • yes there is lots of information on this. If you look at the side effects of a particular antidepressent and then look at the symptoms of hypothyroidism and they are = then watch out. It is like the anti-fungal drugs where they check your liver to make sure you will survive the threatment.

  • Hypothyroid disease is very difficult to diagnose. A standard TSH test can prove 'normal' for years while a problem exists.

  • Ty for saying that.My TSH: TFT(we say in Oz)Thyroid funtion test: still presents normal after many years, but given the nodules in my thyroid,it would appear that they are knocking each other out. After many years, I have been referred to a specialist/surgeon.

  • such a clear voice, very charming and informative, great work, i am thinking on another level now

  • I feel tired all the time...I have now for about 4 and a half years...its awful....

  • Interestingly, I actually have been clinically depressed long before my fatigue set in...I have been on anti depressants since 95...the tiredness came later...so I had depression long before this horrible tiredness.

  • It is true that depression is not just fatigue in all cases. I don't think anyone would argue that depression is not noticed clinically. It is mearly a commonly misdiagnosed issue due to the causes I laid out in the video.

  • Very informative. I use to be depressed quite alot, now I think the depression is gone but I am experiencing fatigue quite a bit. I eat a small breakfast, no lunch and a medium size dinner. I have a script for ritalin, 3times a day, when I'm on it I feel good, no fatigue no mood swings, when Im off it I'm back to my old self, feeling tired all the time esspecialy after a big meal, it takes allot of effort to get up in the morning and I get all that apathy and lazyness. Any suggestions??

  • Ritalin is a stimulant in the same class as cocain. Waking up would be hard because when you are sleeping you are "comming down." I would look to see if you could find the underlying problem that ritalin is hiding. It is not that you have a ritalin defeciency just like a headache is not an asprin defeciency.

  • No.

  • Does hyperthyroidism make you hungry all the time and have dry skin?

  • A large amount of refined sugar and white flour in your diet can do that. See videos

"Are you Tired? Hypoglycemia, Diabetes, Sugar Austin Wellness"

    and

"Natural Skin Care, Acne, Anti Aging, Face & Acne Products"

  • @MRJerrod410 yes, it can...

  • @MRJerrod410 yes i had hyperthyroidism and still do but not as bad. When and before i got diagnosed with it I ate atleast 6 times a day but i wasn't gaining any weight and people thought i was crazy. The later stages when i got treated I started having crazy thoughts and thought i was going to go insane and kept having panic anxiety attacks. Got that treat too and now it isn't so bad. Then my eyes bulged out, my hair was falling out though not too much, dry skin and temper tantrums.

  • Yes it can indicate this but a blood test for your TSH T3 and T4 adn antibodies will prove if you have a recent thyroid issue.

  • Good job Joe, thank you.

  • Why do people keep asking if psychetruth is related to scientology. It is not and does not. No videos even mention it.

  • Good video.

  • How do you tell the difference between a thyroid problem and diabetes I wonder... apart from the yellowing skin, symptoms sound very similar.

  • You can do blood work and test hormone levels and blood sugar levels. The thyroid produces hormones, if it's not working, you can see this in the blood test.

  • No.

  • What's the name of the song and the artist with the music at the end of this video? It sounded really nice!

  • i know this is nothing to do with the vid (haven't watched it all yet) but that big $cientology ad over there is knocking me sick

  • Are you guys affiliated with Scientology? There's a large ad blinking at me in your ad space.

  • I have absolutely no control over what ads YouTube places next to my videos. Scientology is paying Google and YouTube for those ads. It has nothing to do with us.

  • Thanks for replying :)

  • Mine says "Harold & Kumar"....looks like you got the short end of that stick, mettabee :)

  • Great information! The more I excercise the better I feel.

    Peace;)

  • Very good! My uncle is on about 1500 depression drugs and he is like half dead!

  • Good info. You really need to find the right doctor. Any tips on what to look for in a nutritionist or alt doctor? I am about 2000 miles from Texas. :p

  • still waiting to see a video linking fatigue/depression to sitting around all day watching youtube videos and excessively masturbating to internet porn ;)

  • See video, "How to Feel Like Crap, Nutrition by Natalie".

  • @dogatron man xD

  • Yes, yes, and yes!

  • Good Video. I was treated for depression, for many years because of the fatigue and other symptoms you mentioned. It was only 6 months ago, that I was officially diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. My thyroid is barely fuctioning and Im on medication to try rectify this... We are having problems finding the proper dose, and can honestly say... there are days I barely funtion. The muscle fatigue will be so bad that lifting my arms to comb my hair, is an issue! Wish there was a quick fix.

  • very good video!!!

  • thank you soo much
