  • God Almighty, that voice!!

  • beautiful voice for the beautiful song... :)

  • I'm a fan of Carpenters! such a unique and amazing voice! :)

  • JUST MISSED!!! "I Won't Last A Day Without You" just missed making the Billboard's Hot Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 12 weeks in the Hot Top 100 in 1974. This record was sandwiched between two No. 1 records by The Carpenters {"Top Of The World" and "Please Mr. Postman"}!!!

  • que dicção perfeita...maravilhosa mesmo.saudades

  • カレンの美しい声。。。

    まさしく永遠に奏でる奇跡のメロディ。。。

    彼女に逢えて良かった。。。

    ありがとう。。。

  • @magma382 ..a miracle and absolutely for sure!

  • i know i was born in the 90s but i can't believe i'm sad because she died so young ); she's a legend, i'm a fan D;

  • @MsKerenC When certain lights go out, everyone feels it.

  • very very nice song ....;)

  • Sweet as honey

  • Not exactly sure how anybody can not like this song. She was stellar!

  • @beyondonethousand Agree, they must be hard of hearing!

  • I was a young college student when she died, studying nursing. I cried and I cried. There is no one that compares with her voice and this music! What a wonderful time I had listening to you Karen. RIP and I can't wait to meet you in Heaven :)

  • @peprn1961 Oh my days, I hope my parents who died a while ago, are loving Karen singing to them now, and hope we all meet up soon x

  • I close my eyes and I am transported to a dark living room in the 70s. A moment nobody will ever see again. When I open my eyes, Im back in a 2012 dark living room, which in another 30 years, will become a place nobody will ever see.

  • i love you Sri :")

  • Karen, I'm striken with ALS and when I enter the afterlife I pray your singing welcomes me in.

  • @interisland300 she sung it good but the original is the best

  • I've now found my favourite Carpenters song!

  • She has one of the greatest low to mid range voices ever heard. As much as their music has been ribbed for being hokey, it still remains among the most pleasing and satisfying to ever listen to. God bless them

  • @dustygrady What does "being hokey" mean?

  • @fenderbender92

    "cheesy"

  • Like the hit formula of Bacharach/David/Warwick, there was also RCarpenter/KCarpenter/Paul Williams.

  • I was barely a teenager at the time. 30+ years later, I've grown to love Karen even more. Her voice makes the lyrics come alive in ways no other artist can, especially when she sings of loneliness. In this one, "Day after day, I must face a world of strangers, Where I don’t belong,..." And in Only Yesterday, "After long enough of being alone, Everyone must face their share of loneliness," And in Superstar, "Loneliness is such a sad affair,.." She is so authentic without being sentimental.

  • i won't last a day without hearing this song, every day!

  • This Is One Of My Favorite Songs by The Carpenters.....I Reaally Feel What She Is Singing About

  • thanks karen :}

  • A fitting tribute to a time when American music was great because of the Carpenters. Is it any wonder we love them so?

  • Like if Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson brought you here!

  • if the teenage kids heard this music on the radio 2day, they would probably say to themselves,,,,what kind of music is that? i say 2 u teenage kids, this is Music! Karen & Richards love songs continues 2 remind all of us 2day, that there was a time when we can actually sing along to music we use to hear on the radio:)

  • @roland702r not all would. I'm a teen, and I love this music. Music from the Golden Age. This is really superb. I thank my parents for introducing me to this kind of music. There is still hope for the world. :)

  • Her voice is the voice of an angel...

  • i won't last a day with the Carpenter's Song ..

  • i wont last the day without suno...............

  • dont support that movie ahahahahhahah!

  • im inlove with carpenters. those days when music can still be called MUSIC. heart and soul.

  • The Carpenters at their greatest.

500 years from now, this recording will still be a masterpiece.

  • @pjstrupp AMEN!! YOU ARE CORRECT

  • To Barb Radinsky and Renee! I am so sorry!

  • All this song reminds me of is fact that my biggest hero is my life was taken from me too soon. Happy Birthday Mam, there has never been a day where I've ever forgotten about you.

  • Im singing this one time && mom asked me, how do I know this song. OMG!!

    Im a 90's baby!!! :) :)

  • amazing.... as always.

  • I love you Terri---from 1973 and counting...

  • Check out the ACAPELLA version of this song (aboves see "Video Responses")

  • A great song!

  • THIS IS THE TRUE LEGEND..A SONG WILL NEVER DIE..

  • Her voice is like flowing water. Beautiful.

  • @davidhwalton ------- smooth ------- flowing------ perfect--------lovely-----wonderful-------gorgeous---i will always love her forever -----water.... did I mention FOREVER ever ever Karen Carpenter I love her miss her ....

  • This was one of Paul Williams greatest efforts.

  • @davidhwalton Don't forget that Richard was very much the brains behind the act. In the liner notes featured in the "Singles 1969-81" album/CD featured here, it was mentioned that Richard would only select the songs with the right 'elements' for Karen to perform. I can remember hearing many of their hits on the radio as a kid.

  • I miss you, Karen. It touches my heart deeply every time I listen to this.

  • I really like the voice..my favorite song

  • What a beautiful voice!!

    Karen, we miss you... u.u'

  • ♪this is one of my favorite song ♫

it makes me cry when im emotionally sad. :(

  • one of the best love songs ever!

  • search for I won't last a day without you Sarah Geronimo :) it's one of the best cover of this song

  • thank you for posting this song! I love it! :) God bless!

  • I love all her songs. :)

  • so sad song

  • i love you karen

  • her voice is so nostalgic. it sounds like it's flowing through time.

  • shes a legend

  • a wonderful song..i love carpenters..

  • I wont last a day if I dont eat...

  • could you tell me where you get the piano version at the end?

  • i like listen to the carpenters when is raining in my country Dominican Republic.

  • guys, try to watch this

i wont last a day without you by sarah geronimo

she make this song alive in the philippines

  • @lykerkick16 I watched the video, and I have to say that while Sarah is a good singer, her forced singing style makes her a dime-a-dozen type of singer. Her singing pales in comparison to Karen's effortless singing and silky voice which so many around the world appreciate.

  • @bqndc i didnt say that that version is the best.

    i dont want to compare.

my motive in here is to share that version.

  • @lykerkick16 I realize you didn't mean to compare the two, and that's fine. However, by inviting us to check out that singer's rendition opened the doors for comparison. ;-)

  • @bqndc

Well said. You can't compare anybody to Karen past or present imo. She was the best period!

  • @witchFan09 you're dead right!

  • funny to think that almost everyone in class would call me "jologs" due to my choice of songs.... but really, old songs make more sense than the new ones.. right?

  • @witchFan09 i totally agree with you mas jologs pa sila.

  • try to watch this just type I won't Last A day without you by sarah geronimo

  • Teardrops and Diamonds in that wonderful alto voice... Karen's vocals had the unique ability to touch a place that few singers can, the human heart...

  • Nobody can sing like her. If Christina is the queen of oversinging then Karen is the queen of the opposite. Her voice is so expressive..i don't know how she does it.

I love both Karen and Xtina.

  • God wanted her back up there. He wants her to sing for heaven.and to save souls from hell... ♥carpenters

  • @remiajxar LoL,, you really are lost aren't you,, wow,,,

  • nice

  • I won't last a day without listening to Karen's voice, how can a seemingly effortless vocal delivery convey such emotion. I go weak in the presence of such musical genius.

  • i like this song..

  • Heavenly sound!!!

  • ASHRALD!

  • this song will be the themesong of movie in the philippines.

    plz support that movie...

  • This is the themesong of the Sarah and Gerald Movie,, LIKE THE OFFICIAL PAGE --> just search --> Won't Last A Day Without You (Sarah and Gerald) Movie

  • When A Man Loves A Woman. =)

    Excited much! lol #SGAdik

  • this is just wonderful x

  • I've always, always loved this song and everything about Karen's voice. I especially love the piano reprise at the end. Sort of Richard's tribute to Karen. The Carpenters helped so many out-of-the-ordinary kids like me back in the early '70s. I will always be grateful for their beautiful music that helped me get along in those days. It still does.

  • such a loss ,these songs just make me cry ,happy days back then ,i really do feel for our kids of today its a NASTY world out there x

  • RIP Karen. You had so much emotion and inspiration in your voice,I remember growing up to your music.Your brother is very very talented.I agree with what musiclady said"GONE WAY TO SOON". I wish you were still alive here singing and breathing with us.You always will be alive and forever in our hearts. I have this Carpenter's cd and it is very inspirational to listen to.

  • I had a shocking time growing up. My step father was not the greatest person and he was liberal with his fists. Only Yesterday and Bowie's Changes were the only albums we had in the house. I really have to thank Karen and Richard for the calm moments. For respite and for something to aspire to.

  • @bellsybell01 no way you are into weezer and carpenters. weezer are far more original and less poppy. And i feel sorry for you because all you had was this shit and bowie, bowie may be a reasonable excuse for an artist.

  • @charliesbass Way to be an asshole! Congratulations.

  • @vaperjeff free speech :)

  • Comment removed

  • @vaperjeff HHAHA your actually a funny guy :')

  • @charliesbass And YOU'RE actually an illiterate. A grown adult, who I assume has a high school diploma, should be absolutely mortified and embarrassed not to know the difference between the words "your" and "you're".

  • @vaperjeff dude, im 13, i listen to rock and play bass, i havent even done my gcse's let alone my a-levels. and im brittish, we dont have diplomas, we have standards and a-levels and im not going to write every comment like im writing a newspaper report, let me learn, but you, you're funny :')

  • @charliesbass Even at the age of 13 you should know the difference between the words "your" and "you're".

And if you're British you should know how to spell that as well....with one "T". Also...at the age of 13 you don't know shit about music and you are in no position to criticize someone else's tastes. I have been a musician for over 30 years. I went to a music conservatory to study jazz, blues, rock, pop and all levels of composition and performance and I don't shit on other peoples tastes.

  • @vaperjeff yeah, but your like 50, and your still trolling on a teenager. Does it make you feel better if i misspell a few words? Does it make you feel any better? Does it benefit you in any way shape or form? I'm allowed to make a few spelling errors without some shitty old man picking me up on everything i say, i can rip on other peoples music if i want to, its my opinion, so much as its your opinion that im an asshole,if you have a probelem with me, say it to my face fucker, not online.

  • Comment removed

  • @charliesbass No, son. I'm not 50. And I had no idea you were a teenager until you mentioned it. And I am not "trolling" you. Look up the meaning of the phrase "internet troll" and you'll realize you have described yourself and your original comment ...not me. And, no, son..it does not make me "feel better" that you can't spell. It makes me sad about the shoddy state of the educational system. And if I were you, son, I wouldn't be challenging grown men to fights. That will end badly for you.

  • @vaperjeff i can spell, i just dont feel the need to be spelling immaculately on the interwebz. and that is a threat, 'I wouldn't be challenging grown men to fights. That will end badly for you.' a grown men threatening to beat up a teenager, now that sir, will end badly for you. Give me a word and i can spell it correctly☮

  • @charliesbass No, son. You are old enough to be able to spell SIMPLE ENGLISH WORDS without needing to proofread. Knowing the difference between the words "your" and "you're" is not a spelling mistake. They are two different words entirely. You are not a bad speller. You are illiterate and ignorant. And I am NOT threatening you. It was you that said "say it to my face fucker". That is an OBVIOUS challenge to fight. My response, however, was just general advice, not a threat. It's time to grow up

  • @vaperjeff OH MY GOD JUST FUCK OFF I DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR SHITTY LITTLE SPELLINGS! IF YOU'RE SUCH A FUCKING GROWN UP THEN YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT THERES ACTUALLY BETTER THINGS TO DO IN LIFE THAN TROLL KIDS! read a book, play a game, do some sport and all of the trillions of things to do instead of this!

  • Comment removed

  • @charliesbass Again...I am not trolling you or anyone. Look up the meaning of the phrase "internet troll" and you will clearly see that you are describing yourself and your original comment. And again...this is not about spelling. This is about the fact that you are an ignorant, obnoxious child who refuses to grow up and to have any goddamned respect for anyone but yourself. I respond because I continue to get e-mails informing me that you have left yet one more obnoxious comment. Grow up.

  • @charliesbass this is hilarious all this fighting on you tube this is precious hahaha

  • I always remember her with love, she was and is the most perfect vocalist..power feelings, softness and grace, and an angel for God way to soon, blessed is that she still lives on in our hearts and in our music..thank you for posting her very best song ever, listen to the words and they are forever true....

  • I can take all the madness the world has to give, but I won't last a day without Karen's voice.

  • Paul William was one of the best song writers of the twentieth century. I was shocked when I googled his name and found out how many hit songs he wrote. He is right up there with Lennon and McCarthy, Elton John, Billy Joel, and Neil Diamond for song writing prowess.

  • They're simply the best!!!

  • Amazing music (in general), but if your practicing soloing on a guitar, Carpenters' music is great for improvising around, can really get into it and let it flow :)

  • One of the best...ever!

  • She only lived 32 years, but her voice will last forever. Somebody will be humming this song a 100 years from now.

  • @akear i KNOW i WILL........

  • Simply beautitul.

  • This was the first of her songs I heard, I love that voice since then. Sadly she was already dead.

  • I'm 21 years old and can't stop listening to The Carpenters.

Karen Carpenter truly had the best voice in music, anf nobody will ever beat her.

The 13 people who disliked this video cleeeearly have never loved anybody ever.

    What a woman <3

  • perfect ..!....Karen est inoubliable .... the Carpenters sont uniques .

  • Did they ever perform this live? I'd love to see Karen on the drums with this :)

  • With improved treatment today, she probably would have not died. They just did not understand this disease 30 years ago.

  • What a pleasant voice. It is refreshing to hear something so innocent and cheerful.

  • her angelic voice really heals our troubled souls...

  • @csillutherese

Absolutely. Karen's voice was a gift from GOD!

  • I think this is one of Richard's masterful productions. I love the melodic change @ 2:15 to 2:20. I don't know what you call it musically but it sounds wonderful and Karen's vocals as usual are out of this world!

  • Some asshole told her she was fat! RIP Karen!! I can listen to you all day.

  • @qdog568

I'm afraid Anorexia is a little more complex than that. It's a pschyological disease as well

  • @Purple1984Rain I'm sure, but calling someone fat can lead to it.

  • @qdog568 not really.

I work with anorexic teenagers and most have never been called fat. They simply have a pathological fear of the loss of control, and it manifests as not eating. Its a sucky disease.

  • I'm going through a stressful time and I have always loved Karen. I'm listening to this to let the tears flow. The tone of her voice is that of an angel. Never before. Never again.

  • @eric251982 So sorry to hear that. I think a lot of people do that. I know I do sometimes. I'm here because my 17 year old son told me he found her and was amazed by her voice. I think that reflects her timelessness. Hope your troubles have already gone or will go away soon.

  • does someone have a link to a site that explains to ameteurs how to record vocals that one wishes beyond hope could turn out close to this .. ? and no jokes about neumann mics.. i'm poor..

  • why such angelic voice like her needs to die early! thats unfair Jesus! take back Karen take Bieber!

  • @supamarkzyxe

Your post made me laugh "take Beiber" :))

  • @Purple1984Rain hehe, actually im serious :D

  • I didn't know that there was a piano solo at the end. How cool.

  • 13 people seem to dislike that hat.

  • @ecmjr LOL! I am sure you are right! Don't know what else they could possibly dislike!

  • I still miss that voice, the lady and she will always be missed! I remember when they announced her death. I was so upset and could not believe that she was gone. She was one of the greatest artist/vocalist in popular music of the 20th century. She did not need 5 octaves to be amazing and her voice was pure silk wraped in velvet. This is a quality that we basically don't find anymore or rarely in today's artists. Thank you Karen for the wonderful music and memories that will never die.

  • I forgot how much I missed this song, Richard is such a genius for his arrangements, lyrics, playing...oh he's just a genius and Karen was his perfect match.

  • Hate to burst the bubble, but Richard didn't write it- Paul Williams did.

Paul Williams also wrote "We've Only Just Begun" and "Rainy Days and Mondays"

  • @Treemeadow yep..

  • @Treemeadow Paul Williams was on Jimmy Fallon a month or so ago. He did the muppet song. It was so cool.

Wouldn't let me post a link. Just search Paul Williams and Jimmy Fallon, it'll come up.

  • @bsbncandey Hate to burst the bubble, but it was Paul Williams who wrote this song- he also wrote Rainy Das and Mondays, and We've Only Just Begun.

    Listen to his versions too!

  • @Treemeadow Don't forget Roger Nichols also wrote them too

  • @Treemeadow

you got it bud-i sang this back in choir at school-he was a great songwriter-and it was his name on the sheet music

  • Best female singing voice in our lifetime! Love her!

  • I love the little piano solo at the end of this, just beautiful, so touching. You can get it at itunes.

  • <3 i realise the carpenters will always be close to my feelings even if i pretend to be forgetting them

  • Thumbs up if you're still singing this in 2011! :D

  • Though loving most of her songs, this one, in particular, "speaks" to me the most.

The purity of Karen's voice and the simple piano accompaniment made this rendition the best of all versions.
