  • @Myytmovies And yet you still need to learn to spell.

  • @sedateflame Thumbs up if your tired of stupid thumbs up posts

  • I have to admit I to read and loved the book Battlefield Earth. I had no idea who Hubbard was and was totally shocked when I found out. Scientology in general is pretty mind blowing when you think of what it believes and how it came about. But does seem like something a Sci-fi writer would invent.

  • this guy will bend over for every1...

  • @furiousflexL33T Right. I bet His favorite music is Mariachi and Little Wayne.

  • If he liked the movie too we know he is insane.

  • The book was okay. It's a long read. Has a lot of interesting ideas. I read it back before I knew anything about L. Ron. Hub. It's nothing to be embarrassed about for liking it. Can we start attacking him for having poor presidential ideas and policy?

  • Thumbs up if you don't give a fuck how you got here, and never will.

  • To be honest, are the beliefs of Scientologists really much crazier than Mormons? Both look pretty nuts to me...

  • thumb up if Roger Ebert brought you here.

  • I just can't picture myself voting for a Mormon, not to mention his favorite author was the worst scifi writer of all time. Maybe it's because Hubbard was Joe Smith reincarnated?

  • Just say no to Romney.

  • Governor Mitt Romney is a RINO. He supports stringent gun laws. His Health care overhaul pales in comparison to the atrocity of Obamacare, but it was similar. He has never expressed public regret for this. He told Michigan residents at an event there that the financial services bailout was absolutely necessary. He stated you said that the Republican Party needs to pass "immigration reform" (amnesty) for new voters. He’d vote for Obama! watch?v=jPGnJmbDq08

    West, Huckabee, Palin, Bachmann, Paul

  • Jesus, Mitt, read some Thomas Mann, or something, fuckin' gimp.

  • Let's see...

    Scientology...Mormonism...

Very, very thin line between the two!!

  • Romney is in favor of leverage

  • I heard the book was needlessly long. The end was hero overthrows alien invaders and has to fight other alien invaders, a human rival for leadership and learning the secret of Psychlo mathematics and teleportation. Why does he have to learn the alien's technology and math when the hero already did that?!

  • Scientology is crazy but Hubbard was a good sci fi writer.

  • its a Mormon book

  • no dumb dumb, it's a scientology novel

  • i was being sarcastic..

  • The Package-Deal Fallacy Strikes Again!

  • i read that book when i was 13 and liked it. im no scientologist nor have i seen the movie. thank you.

  • lol yeah I like the book but not the religion

  • He was joking. It's a crappy book and movie. Mitt Romney was joking. Go back to your lives.

  • Big deal. He liked the book, not the religion. But whatever, is the book any good?

  • mitt romney for president 2012, tagg romney for president 2020, matt romney for president2024, tagg romney for president 2028, matt romney for president 2032, josh romney for president 2036, josh romney for president 2040, ben romney for president 2044, craig romney for president 2048, ben romney for president 2052, craig romney for president 2056

  • Glad he wasn't president: that's the best novel he could think of?! At best, it's a mediocre novel, at worst it's Scientology propaganda (and it sucks). Dune is a much better sci-fi book.

  • Did you READ the book? It has nothing whatsoever to do with Scientology. And while I'll agree that Dune is a "better" book, Battlefield Earth was a much more fun read. Lighthearted sci-fi adventure at its best. And Romney denounces Scientology before commenting on the book, so give the guy a break.

  • WOW.

  • I can't agree more. Battlefield Earth was the funniest movie I've ever watched. At least the part I did watch...

  • @m074h3u5 i watch that movie while you were still learning how to SPELL YOUR NAME!!

  • oh thats great, now we are going to have a bunch of scientologists voting republican :(

i didnt read the boook but saw the movie it was bad as hell

but it makes an alien invasion way more realistic than blockbuster movies:

IF ALIENS ATTACKED US WITH THEIR ADVANCED TECHHNOLOGY WE WOULD ONLY SURVIVE 9 MINUTES

but then again that would make a sucky movie

  • i hear all the time that the book is just as bad as the movie...but intelligence set aside, is it a fun read?

  • Well, it's obviously a matter of taste, but the movie was probably the most disappointing movie I've ever seen. Loved the book, loathed the movie. One of the biggest differences (and there were MANY), the humans used the aliens' own machines against them, not 1000 year old harrier fighters that somehow seemed to work perfectly and were still fully fueled up (in the book, the fighters the humans found were little more than piles of rust, if I recall correctly).

  • Well, so much for his campaign.

  • Whoever supports Romney is either seriously ill informed, or simply prone to evil. Romney is such a clown. Look at how he wouldn't answer the question about torture! Romney is by far the worst Republican candidate. Second worst is Giuliani. Romney's answer regarding torture was such a cop out. How can anyone vote for this typical politician. ROMNEY IS A DISGRACE.

  • motherfucker is just trying to get the dumb fucking scientologists to vote.

  • Battlefield Earth is just a fun pulpy sci-fi novel, that's it.

  • Fruitloop, You are a big goof!

  • Who cares?

  • Battlefield earth was a great book, good choice romney. people who use this against him are just looking for reasons to hate him as they are prejudiced against Mormons.

  • Agreed, but I think you mean Scientologists. Not Mormons.

  • wow this was really, really bad dirt

  • latterdayconservative dot com

go look it up mormons! then Repent and Vote Ron Paul and save your soul and your constitution from hanging by a thread

  • Very good book. VERY VERY bad movie.

  • Very bad candidate. VERY VERY bad president.

  • At least this guy has the cubes to say what he thinks!

  • Goo MITT FOR PREZ!

  • "Stupid Romney! Ha, ha, ha, ha!"

    --Terl

  • I bet Mittens never read the book, but thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

  • MITT FOR PREZ!!!

  • Yeah Mitt, Hubbard's religion is kinda weird and nonsensical huh?

  • Do you think that Xemu flew past the star of Kolob on his way to Hawaiin volcanoes?

Maybe that lost tribe hitched a ride.

  • Mitt 4 Prez

  • Wow, Romneys insane.

  • Going for the Scientology vote Mitt?

  • he can read?

  • Yes, but don't hold that against him. For your information, all the major candidates who have announced that they are running in the U.S. primaries know how to read. Is that the case in France as well?

  • I guess if you could read French you would know the answer to that... ah, but perhaps you went to school in 'Merica! and thus only speak 'Merican!

  • I can't read French, but since the user "holdingcompany" states in his profile that he is from France and through his comment expressed surprise that one of the candidates is in the U.S. primary elections literate, the obvious question is what the state of the French presidential candidates is when it comes to literacy. And no, I neither went to school in America nor speak only English. :-)

  • Well played sir- fair enough. Tho you cant truly fault the man for thinking us yanks are a bit under par in the brains dept. Cheers!

  • I don't think that Americans are any more stupid than the French.

  • Little known fact: Mitt Romney's favorite running shoes are the Nike branded ones seen on corpses of Heaven's Gate cult members.

He's also a fan of S&W hollow point bullets used by David Koresh... you know, for his rodent hunting trips.

  • Hubbard financed his religion through his sci-fi writing, so it's no surprise that there are fans of his sci-fi books out there. It was probably a bad move however to admit that you like his fictional books considering the controversial nature of Scientology.

  • Hubbard financed the Co$ by brainwashing his followers into giving him all their money. The only people that are fans of his writings are $cientologist. It was a very bad move though, he just lost any chance he had at getting nominated.

  • That comment will not have any real consequences as to his chances of getting the nomination. He is open about his Mormon faith which of course excludes him being a follower of Scientology. And even if he was not a Mormon, claiming that you like one of Hubbard's books is not the same as being a Scientologist.

  • He is not open about being a Mormon. He has refused to answer questions about his Mormon beliefs or how they may influence his decision making. You may also want to check out the fact that his staff is backpeddaling on his favrite book, saying now it is THE BIBLE. Please....

  • Do you believe that he is not a Mormon, but rather a Scientologist or of any other faith? I don't, and his statement about his favorite novel being a book by Hubbard does not change that.

The question in the clip is not what his favorite BOOK is, but what his favorite NOVEL is, in other words his favorite work of fiction. Any religious person you ask will not call his/her religious text fiction and thus cannot be categorized as novels.

  • I am not commenting on him being a scientologist, I am merely pointing out that his staff is backpedalling saying that this is only ONE of his favorite novels when he started to get some heat for picking it. The clip does not indicate a bounty of favorites. The Bible as his favorite BOOK seems like a disingenuous throw in to tell us what a normal guy he is and move away from B.E. Why not the book of Mormon? He continues to avoid stating his beliefs regardless.

  • You just have to read the comments to this short clip to understand why his staff is acting the way they do - people misinterpret what he said to mean something that it does not mean, and so the matter has to be clarified. Personally I greatly prefer having politicians who do not view any religious text as their favorite book, be it The Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Qur'an, or whatever.

  • I'd like to hear him talkb about his bagman, but he won't. He is one of the worst when it comes to backroom deals.

  • Welcome to America!!! Where "we're not in favor of your religion by any means". This guy is shit.

  • Oh great he is flip flopping from Mormonism to Scientology, tomorrow he will promote the God Delusion.

  • oh man!

    Romney is a Psychlo!
