this video goes into the vast layers of emotion found within this movie ... to not like this video is proof that you never really understood the character ....the video is well done and i am really glad i found this becuase ... it reminded me of the simplier times ... thank you ><
This movie is about what we lose as we go on, how we are born innocent and through years forget who we are, where we come from, and neglect and even hurt the people we love the most. The ending scene made me cry so much. Their stories of the characters, when in the storyline we discover that they were normal people with normal lives, and how at one point their lives clashed together and transformed them forever...
@WorldOfSnakesAlso the moment that touched me the most is the image of Kaoru Naito transporting his elderly father up the stairs on his back while crying. Throughout the movie we witnessed him as self-interested and heartless. Seeing him at the end of the movie cry for his father, and put him on his back, it killed me.The end of the movie was meant to show us that these people who fought the war and are responsible for many deaths, they too once had a life, loved ones, and they once had a heart.
this is my best loved film too. It simply blew my mind. Still have questions. Remember, couple times in the film there are cartoonish scenes of Akubon's dream (the deaf guy) - where he goes towards a tree, the the tree's leaves fly off and away as birds and it's a statue of an angel or Casshern. I still can't figure out what's the symbolism of Akubon's dreams. Also, what does it mean when Neoroids says "I can see now" when dying while Burai (their leader) can't see anything when he dies?
@raepood When they say "I can see now", it refers to something you see when you die...for example, when we say "I can see the light" when they die, it's the same meaning. We don't know what they saw when they died, but they saw something. Now Burai kept saying "I can't see it" because he was waiting to die. He was hoping to see that thing, because he knew that if he saw it, it would confirm that he's dieing. So when he realized that he wasn't seeing that thing, he panicked. He wanted to die.
@WorldOfSnakes Thank you for your prospective. But I still havent' got the idea. Your answer was more explaining why he had kept saying "I can't see it". I'd rather want to understand why he DIDN'T see it. Burai was dying that's why he started saying that. But unlike others he didn't see it. Why? Wether he wanted to see it or not, expected his death or not, he is dying like all the others did before. In that sense there is no difference between him and the other.
@WorldOfSnakes Your last two sentences puzzle me even more. So, he knew he was dying because he expected to see something. But he didn't see it so he panicked - panicked about what? About not dying? The only idea for me now is that he didn't see "it" because Burai was full of hatred, he didn't managed to forgive before hid death and that's how he robbed himself of seeing something, maybe seeing "a better world" which probably all of them had hoped for.
@raepood Basically what I was saying is that he wasn't seeing the thing because he was not dying. But now that I remember,at the end he does die. So I don't know why he didn't see the thing. I think it's made to be left unspecified so that you can make up your own interpretation. My interpretation (one that is actually often used in Japanese movies and video games) is that when a hero dies, he doesn't go to paradise. It's only those who go to paradise that see the thing or the "light".
@raepood So even if at the beginning he had a noble reason for taking arms and doing his uprising, he still responsible for the murder of a lot of people. So he won't go to paradise.
@WorldOfSnakes -- yes! I feel like a lot of people who've seen this movie didn't understand why he didn't see "the vision of what could have been" before he died.
this actually brought tears to my eyes... the things that were said in the movie... the beautiful manner in which it was shot... i wonder whether i will ever get to see another movie that beautiful and touching.

One of the best movies of all times... One of the best soundtrack-scores ever !! Thank you so much for posting this... you did a great job here, is beautiful.
This movie is one of the best ive ever seen in my life.... and the ending is just epic,,,, the music... the setting... the story... im just loving this movie... and this sont just giving me the chills....
if you can honestly call this movie corny you have no idea what a movie is supposed to consist of. Casshern is a beautiful movie that touched on all the emotions of cinema. One of my favorites of all time.
I love Jun Kaname...he's sooo cute...and Oikawa, I like his character as well. Nice vid...You know the director of the movie was big into doing music videos...
I watched it again. Touching. Especially the parts that weren't italisized. Wouldn't it be nice to be friends with someone as a child, and fall madly in love with them, a true love. Damn!
Best picture music video I have Seen. I have been getting mixed reviews on this movie, many say it's boring, deep, but boring, only 3 great action scenes, which almost make the movie. Can someone end it once and for all and tell me whether I shoudl rent it? Almost makes me feel depressed like the old Megaman games used to. Can you rent it in america, like at hastings or blockbuster?
Yes, they have it at Blockbuster! :) It's very good, it's one of my favorite movies. I guess it's an "acquired taste", that's what people have said. Because some people said it's tedious, some said it leaves a profound effect on people. So the only way for you to really know if you're going to like it is to take the chance & watch it :)
I rented Casshern, it was pretty corny, not that the best action sequence that someone uploaded to youtube wasn't cool, that was the best part, but the rest was embaressing to watch with family members, a live action anime, if it is good, shouldn't do that to someone, even ninja turtles live action could definitely be watched with family members.
lol i watched it alone and enjoyed the rich emviroments that were created, and yes it has similarities to other romntic celluloids but i didnt find corny to any extant it has an awesome soundtrack and I liked the story and action sequences, but everyone has thier own tastes ;p
& yes the ending theme for the movie is sung by Hikki. The director of this film is her ex-husband(although they were still together when this movie was made).
Gosh. I loved this movie. Hrm...if you don't mind, do you mind telling me where i can find this song to download? I really love the music. It's sad but really relaxing in a sort or weird way. lol But yeah. If you can, please tell me!
I'm glad someone made a tribute to this excellent film, it really needs to have more acclaim than it does. I really like this filmtoo much & I always like watching the last 10 mins because of the hope or the idealism that we can learn to live together not perfectly but at least tolerant. Always have hope because thats one of the choices which is truely free to us all!
hey you any idea where i can download this song?? this movie has such an amazing score, and this particular piece really hits those emotional strings!!
