  • Its AA

  • LOL it sounded like it said "Fire, SH*T!"

  • That's the same smoke alarm I have!!!

  • I'd just get a fuckin 4050 and hook it up to the piezo wire in the detector. THAT will wake ur kids up :)

  • @WheelockSimplxFan113 That was my old hyperbaricchicken101 account that is now closed but there is a problem with that. A 4050 uses around 12-24 volts and a smoke detector only uses 3-9 volts and you may either be putting stress on your detector or it has a way underpowered voltage and won't sound.

  • Kids don't always wake up to high pitched fire alarms like that so I recomend the squealer horn detectors.

  • I'm sure the millions of people who have been saved by smoke alarms in the past 25 years would be grateful people like "me" are that into fire alarms? poor attitude buddy, some day it may save your life! I would remind you of this years fire prevention week slogan "Smoke Alarms" A noise you can LIVE with"

  • it's a friggin fire alarm...........

  • @piefish Actually it is a "Smoke Alarm" the unit shown has no manual initiation devices or heat detection devices. This would part of a fire alarm. The difference being a Fire Alarm System has Smoke detection, heat detection, if necessary water flow and air duct detection along with manual pull stations to initiate the audible appliances which initiates a signal through either bells, speakers or Horn speakers and is supervised by a main control panel for any abnormalities. • @ou812mikey no one and I mean no one should be that into fire alarms 0_0

  • ???????

  • also i forgot to add. mine does code 3. not pulse. and it doesent talk after the carbon monoxide alarm.

  • cool mine are garrison too. but most are kidde.

  • yours is diffrent. mine uses 3 double a batteries. the others are 9 volt.

  • Yes newer models now use better battery cells. Thanks to technology you can now get a 10 year battery aswell.

  • u are sopose to replace the alarm every 10 years

  • That is true for most models some 5 years. Its best to read the instructions and date the smoke alarm so you know for sure when to change it... installed April 09 replace April19

Thanks for the reminder I hope every one remembers to do it.

  • i normally keep a flashlight by my bed but this is cool i want one

  • i just got this last night odd but cool

  • My home has a smoke alarm on each floor but wired into the mains, they have 9v backup batteries, which last about 5 years as they still discharge slowly and theres never power cuts where I live well not since 2001. When I was younger my home had alarms with light units, you could use the light only in event of a power cut by pressing the light on/off button, they alarm had test and light button.

  • Wilson,

You have what we call "hard wired units" and yes you should have the kind that has back up battery. However you must still replace the battery every 6 months unless you purchase the long cell lithium battery rated for 10 years. Any other kind must be replaced due to loss of power in the cell. Take care and thanks for the contact.

  • Mike,

Just getting in contact with you again just to say on Saturday the smoke alarms in my home all 3 on each floor have been replaced as the old ones were starting to die and the ground floor kept going off for no reason. The alarms were installed in March 2002 so I guess it was time for new ones, these don't use PP3 alkalines anymore, same brand with li-ion rechargeable 10 year back-ups if AC fails. Their all interconnected! Brand is European (don't think it's in USA). EI Electronics.

  • Great new Wilson I am glad you upgraded to new units. Its the best investment you could make.

Take Care and be safe with candles this Halloween

    Mike

  • the main reason to have carbon monoxide alarms in your home is carbon monoxide is an oderless tasteless poison gas that you cant see so it is urgent to have a carbon monoxide in your home

  • those carbon monoxide smoke are very loud i heard one of those go off and made my ears ring but they are not that loud just louder than most other smoke alarms but anyway you want the smoke alarm to be loud so you can wake up faster and (special reminder)always have smoke alarms in your house especially carbon monoxide alarms

  • I have the one you were showing at 1:43, those have both a test/reset switch, but I think it would be useful if they only had a reset switch on them, because it's kid of pointless, and they could just pass it off as one that can detect smoke more easily.

  • thats an older model of mine it dosent do the new required in the us any ways code 3 horn pattern.

  • thats also made by kidde same exact model i have 4 of them

  • We did notmention locating the smoke alrms as this was about maintaining it not insalling it we are working on that video. thanks for you help

  • Pretty good advice but you are supposed to put it at least 4 inches down from the ceiling when you put it on the wall (unlike what they did with the light-up one. If it's on the ceiling, it should be at least a foot from the wall, and 2 feet from corners.

  • Yes, for Firex, Kidde, and Fyrenetics smoke alarms. But the best safety advice is right in the instruction manual. Read the instructions to learn where your particular smoke alarm should be located.

    Safety first!

  • i have a garrison alarm that has the light and its rechargible it hooks into the wall and theres connections
