I have to say I have never heard of this movie! I was searching through Mandy Patinkin vids on youtube and stumbled across this. This looks wonderful! In a tragic way of course, but definately a must see! I'll have to check for it on amazon. Thank you so so much for uploading this!
i read the book and something is not clear in my mind. Would you please answer it? Did Jack really died after he's beaten as Nashe believes or did Jack checked himself out of the hospital and vanished as Murks said??
Jack was dead in the field by the wall. He was left at the wall as a warning to Nashe.
Nashe said he was in need of medical attention to {1} get a ride out of there, to the hospital or {2} test Calvin.
{1} Since he wasn't allowed to go to the hospital (thrown off the jeep twice). He knew he was imprisoned. After his beating... he knew Calvin beat Jack to death {2} If Jack was dead... the story about him recovering in hospital would be a lie and Nashe would know he has to escape... or die.
One of the greatest novels of all time. I've yet to see the movie, but I can't imagine it possibly doing the book justice. There's a rich world going on internally -- in the characters' minds, I mean -- that isn't likely to be portrayed in the film.
This film has been on BBC2 in the UK in the past, it was last broadcast on Saturday 16th August 2003 at about 1am cos that's when i taped it and it hasn't been shown since, but now i have the DVD. This film is something that would be on TV in the early hours of the morning.
paul auster is my absolute favorite author. music of chance is my fav of his books. how the hell was i totally unaware of the fact there was a movie??
It is based on the excellent novel The Music Of Chance by Paul Auster. Its kind of a moral cautionary tale that is contructed like a Grimm Brothers fairy tale My advice read the book first and you will get more from the film
i'm obsessed by this movie/book, and i don't know why

1:50 - Mandy Patinkin in short shorts.
I never thought I'd see the day...I'm not regretting it, either. :D
Or the movie for that matter. It took forever to download, though.

Wow, this is my favourite Paul Auster novel! I didn't even know they made a movie from it and it's starring James Spader one of my fav actors!
I must find this movie somewhere... thanks for uploading!

That's the big question, pal! It's up to you to finish the story for yourself.

This is one of the most engaging, underrated, fascinating, fucked up movies I've ever seen.

Watch it the first time for the plot and script; watch it again for the astounding acting by the entire cast. In my top 10.

Great movie. One of those that leaves you scratching your head at times wondering what the f**k was all that about. Definitely worth tracking down.
