One original band member does not Molly Hatchet make... This is a glorified bar band... RIP .. Danny Joe and Duane Rolland... I did go to one of these guy's shows nobody else was there they all kind of hung out like a bar band and since it was an outside show these MH want to be's started playing to maybe 35-40 people .... Thank God,,, it rained and we all got our money back after they completely desecrated two songs...
I love keeping southern rock alive but this is a disgrace. The dude with the strat is Dave Hlubek an original member right? This is as bad as the jerks running around as the Outlaws. What southern rock bands are left anyway? No more Atlanta Rythm Section, Black Oak Arkansas. I wish some new boys would get together and make some new southern rock dammit!!!
@WilliamN188 Agreed . . . These fuckers need to leave M.H. & D.J.B R.I.P . . . no one sang it like Danny . . . seen them in 81 in Dayton - Flirtin Tour , Beatin the Odds Tour with Jimmy , No Guts Tour in Cincy with Triumph and a few times after that . . . This is not Molly Hatchet
Amazing band ! Molly Hatchet are playing Liverpool's o2 Academy on the 13th of December! And my band get to support them! So make a big effort to go! And get out my band 'Santa Venera' !!!
Does anyone remember the awesome album cover art on this album and some of the others. I had the art from "Take No Prisoners" enlarged onto a 8' X 8' piece of tracing paper on my wall and it took me 3 weeks and 46 pencils to finish it. It was amazing. I ended up selling it for $150 and some really super sensemilla.
As an English kid in the 80's i didn't get much exposure to Molly Hatchet other than buying L.P.s,can some sone from the good old USA tell me just how big they were_are?
Unfortunately, they were/are not that big over here in the US. Oh, sure they sold shitloads of records, but they were never the most popular. By the way, how old are you?,
@SuperSpeako As daviemmproc said, they weren't mega huge here in the states, but in their niche they were extremely popular. There wasn't much choice for southern rock at the time (Still isn't). Molly Hatchett, 38 special, Skynyrd were it, and then ZZ Topp came in about that time. There were several others with different sound like Allmann Brothers, etc but for me- M.H. was the only game in town- at least the first three albums until DJB left the band.
@SuperSpeako Huge in the 70's, part of the southern rock style with Allman Brothers, Lynard Skynard, Marshall tucker Band, and Charlie Daniels band and the like. Mildly popular in the 80's becuase they were associated with .38 special and the 80's style more commerical southern rock sound
the drums are great, better then original drummer i think. the singing is worse, tho not great to begin with. guitar was great too. the line up isnt the studio line up, but this band did a damn good job. And thats not even the important part, look at how much of a great time the guys are having on stage. 3:45 is how molly hatchet should be remembered.
Jesus, Dave Hlubek has aged terribly. His playing isn't a shadow of what it used to be, and he mangled his solo. "Molly Hatchet" should hang it up and stop butchering their own classics.
Just saw these guys 2 nights ago in Sandusky Ohio during Ohio Bike Week. I've seen the Hatchet a few times, the original lineup and everything after. This current lineup has been together for years. Trust me, if you have no idea who was ever in this band, you would this it was the original members. THEY HAVE ALWAYS AND CONTINUE TO KICK BUTT! If you are a fan, and you get the chance to see them......DO IT. You won't be disappointed!!!
Who cares if it's mostly different members, these southern rock bands are more about tradition and family than about individual members. Skynyrd, Allmans, Hatchet are all more of a tradition than they are bands.
i cant believe those old hardcore partiers are still able to put on a spectacle lol... you notice in the beginning of the video he stops and does a double take in the middle of singing when those 2 girls start dancing on stage LOL

These are some great guys and I love them! True not all of them are the original members but c'mon get real...its 2011 and these guys are still keeping Southern Rock Alive!!!..your not going to find this music on the radio...we should all rally around them and support them for another 20 years!
Speaking of hatchet. This band has had some many different member pass through, it's like the story of the guy selling George Washington's hatchet he used to chop down the cherry tree with. The head is new and the handle's been replaced twice. But other then that, it's the same one.
redneck music is the epic win! when I get to 50 years old and on retirement, I'm moving into a redneck cottage country town and go fishing, hunt, smoke cigars on my porch, have beers at my pool deck, own a badass pickup truck.. lmao getting off topic here on this video but still.. cant wait till im 50 :)
I love the song, always have.It has a great bass riff in it that I hope to be able to play one day. However, this guy singing in place of Danny Joe Brown, just don't cut it with me.I haven't kept up with MH over the years but this singer can go in my book.Plus,I thought I was listening to a speed metal band. They were playing entirely too fast.Yeah high energy is great but don't speed the song up so much that it changes the character of the song.
I keep hearing the crowd roar up as loud as the music, but when you see an audience shot there are empty seats, people sitting down and hardly anyone dancing, let alone clapping or yelling. The crowd noise was added to the mix after the fact, at least a large part of it, and the Strat guy is cashing it in, big-time. Is that Dave? Once a hero of mine. Sad. Kind of pathetic.
of course the studio sounds better than live PLUS i think thats a different singer. the guy in 1981 was almost BALD!!! HAHAHA. classic no matter how its done by them.
@lovekaley1 Yeah, the original singer stopped performing with them in...95 I think, and he actually died around the time this was taped. His name was Billy Joe Brown, and the current guy is...um...something McCormick.
Is there anyone out there that's actually stupid enough to believe the girl trying to get on stage is not "staged"??? Or that this is a good band??? LOL

I first saw this band in 1979 with the original lineup and and seen them a hundred times since. I love the band and certainly miss Danny Joe and Duane Roland. RIP and thanks for all the rockin' memories...
Dude....you don't have a clue about Molly Hatchet!!!....the singer of THIS version of Molly is Phil McCormack..a good singer in his own right...BUT...he is NOT the original singer who was Danny Joe Brown....Danny WAS Molly Hatchet, unfortunatley, we lost Danny to a health issue related to TWO strokes and diabetes on March 10, 2005.
I don't care how good you THINK you are....you, nor will ANYONE else...EVER...be as good, could replace, or beat Danny on stage
@eld82268 amen brother, this is a good "cover band" of what was once Molly Hatchet. I saw Danny Joes son sing with Molly Hatchet once, sounds like his dad. The original Hatchet was bad to the bone!
at least with Hlubek with them they have some sense of Hatchet in them.
of course the studio sounds better than live PLUS i think thats a different singer. the guy in 1981 was almost BALD!!! HAHAHA. classic no matter how its done by them.
Ever heard of Blackfoot? Older, better, still the originals except for Bobby and Scott. Rickey left, and got replaced by Bobby (Who I personally prefer), and Scott replaced Michael Sollars who replaced Jackson Spires when he passed away. R.I.P. Jackson Spires and Danny Joe Brown.
The same argument over and over is this Molly Hatchet or Bobby Ingrams band..Bobby Ingram owns the naming rights to Molly Hatchet ..So i guess that makes them Molly Hatchet..I know Phil hes a good guy and does a hard job of taking over for Danny he may not be kin to Danny but he sure was a close friend and was asked by Danny to take over for him...This line up of Hatchet puts on a great show so enjoy them.,,And stop sweating the B.S
This is "Bobby Hatchet." It is what it is. If they're playing at a bar near you....go check it out. I wouldn't give it any more than that. I saw this "Act" last year. Hlubek tuned his PRS through the whole set and acted like he'd have rather been anywhere else. I guess he'd rather stick to his day job detailing cars in Jax!
Excellent band, great live video ! Thanks GoldenCore, I put up a 5 star rating for you. If you get a chance, check out the "Shake For Me Now" video in my site. Thanks
phil mcormick is far from related to danny my dads band southern fried used to play the same places as phils band the road ducks and they rocked them off the stage my dads band opened for molly hatchet at jaxx or zakks in verginia and danny said my dads band sounded exactley like skynyrd and my dad can sing just like danny too if you don't beleive me come check out our band the boothill band we play around maryland and pa.
This is beyond terrible. The singer is awful. This band had one hit and it was a marginal hit at best. Come on, this is plainly ridiculous. What a cheap imitation. I mean there is only one real member in the band, Dave Hlubek, and he is just out there so that they can say they have an "original" member. Give me a break. Truly pathetic.
I think that's Dave Hlubeck!!! Say what you want, but I've seen the original lineup a few times back in the early 80's but you have to admit this does sounds pretty good.
NO, The fat ass on the right with the guitar is Hlubek. (Dave only wishes he could be that trim again, and besides Dave never could sing.) The singer cant hold a candle to Danny either.
But those who knew him, knows that!.
R.I.P Danny, they are still trying to find a singer as good as you.
hard to replace a solid gold member like Danny Joe Brown, but you gotta give Phillip Mcormack props. He does a damn good job. Seen them live several times and they bring the rock!
There will never be another DJB. I guess if you need to hear "Molly Hatchet", this is close. Bobby Ingram's Hatchet isn't what the original was, but none of the others can get together and do it because he owns the name. He was gonna shut down the Jamming For DJB benefit, if they used the name Molly Hatchet, even though there was every former member there including DJB. Had the cops on standby and everything. What a piece of work.
your insult fails to make any sense? i was simply making a statement. You have problems. seek cousel, from your mother. Im sure her room is right next to yours.
I can't think of another Molly Hatchet song (at least that I know is by them).
I do remember an Onion article featuring the drummer (I think). It was something along the lines of "Molly Hatchet Drummer Remembers Life Of Partying And Drug Abuse" where he hopes to start abusing drugs again "real soon".
Someone get that singer off stage, please! He's killing a decent performance of this tune. Damn! If Journey and Foreigner can find a decent 2nd, why cant' they?
Well I think this version (singer) sounds good Danny is passed on R.I.P. But I'm kinda prejudiced DJB is my cousin and I remember him quite well I'm A bit younger than him but I used to get to see them for free when they were in town and he inspired me to start up a band. But this guy is doing pretty good.
yeah--it's not danny, but i haven't seen anyone with danny's voice or stage presence. it's a cool tune--these guys are giving it their best. i've met dave--he was really cool. talked for several hours. molly has a strong fan base--always will. today's idea of music with all the bullshit we're getting from the industry to american idol--i'd love to find someone with 1/2 of danny's talent & start writing. we'll see a change at some point--music is everchanging--i hope it's soon.
Agreed. It took a minute before I realized that it wasn't Danny Jo Brown singing. This guy can't sing for shit. This is like watching some drunk trying to hold his own at karaoke.
Well hell, if it took you a minute to realize that it was DJB singing, then I'd say that Phil is doing a great job!!
For all the people bitching that they could sing it better, jump the fuck on the stage and have at it. I guess it's always easier to sit behind a keyboard and rip on someone than to actually get off your worthelsss asses and put a band together huh?
More like this guy sucks so bad, it took me a minute to realize that it wasn't Danny Joe Brown. While you're sucking Phil's dick, tell him I said he can't sing for shit.
There where dead on here.

You should sing so well at his age. Have some respect.

Love Blackfoot!

InvaderCC 2 years ago 19
This is "Bobby Hatchet." It is what it is. If they're playing at a bar near you....go check it out. I wouldn't give it any more than that. I saw this "Act" last year. Hlubek tuned his PRS through the whole set and acted like he'd have rather been anywhere else. I guess he'd rather stick to his day job detailing cars in Jax!

Excellent band, great live video ! Thanks GoldenCore, I put up a 5 star rating for you. If you get a chance, check out the "Shake For Me Now" video in my site. Thanks

Aw hell Ya, you MH kicks ass.
See my pic alum from the unforgetable bad soundguy show at Interaction Lounge in Stone park Illinois.
Lesson? don't let the bouncer run the soundboard,so the band has each to solo,to try to get him to figure out...dang huh.Got some good pics.

phil mcormick is far from related to danny my dads band southern fried used to play the same places as phils band the road ducks and they rocked them off the stage my dads band opened for molly hatchet at jaxx or zakks in verginia and danny said my dads band sounded exactley like skynyrd and my dad can sing just like danny too if you don't beleive me come check out our band the boothill band we play around maryland and pa.

but dude you have to look at it as being hilarious then enjoy it haha

This is beyond terrible. The singer is awful. This band had one hit and it was a marginal hit at best. Come on, this is plainly ridiculous. What a cheap imitation. I mean there is only one real member in the band, Dave Hlubek, and he is just out there so that they can say they have an "original" member. Give me a break. Truly pathetic.

im agreeing with the singer being bad but the rest of the band was AWESOME

I think that's Dave Hlubeck!!! Say what you want, but I've seen the original lineup a few times back in the early 80's but you have to admit this does sounds pretty good.
RoadkillBill65 2 years ago
NO, The fat ass on the right with the guitar is Hlubek. (Dave only wishes he could be that trim again, and besides Dave never could sing.) The singer cant hold a candle to Danny either.
But those who knew him, knows that!.
R.I.P Danny, they are still trying to find a singer as good as you.

Uh dude, the guitarist with the strat and the bassist are the founding members and the keyboard player has been in since the 70's....
LordOfThisWorld74 2 years ago
hard to replace a solid gold member like Danny Joe Brown, but you gotta give Phillip Mcormack props. He does a damn good job. Seen them live several times and they bring the rock!
MOLECULE64 2 years ago
There will never be another DJB. I guess if you need to hear "Molly Hatchet", this is close. Bobby Ingram's Hatchet isn't what the original was, but none of the others can get together and do it because he owns the name. He was gonna shut down the Jamming For DJB benefit, if they used the name Molly Hatchet, even though there was every former member there including DJB. Had the cops on standby and everything. What a piece of work.

I disagree, I prefer Danny Joe Brown's original, but I still enjoyed this singing
Soundmove1 2 years ago
I can't think of another Molly Hatchet song (at least that I know is by them).
I do remember an Onion article featuring the drummer (I think). It was something along the lines of "Molly Hatchet Drummer Remembers Life Of Partying And Drug Abuse" where he hopes to start abusing drugs again "real soon".
Jokes aside, they have some good drum work.
Eyedunno 2 years ago
Hah, found it!
The title is "Molly Hatchet's Nightmare Descent Into Booze, Sex, Drugs 'Not All That Nightmarish,' Guitarist Admits"
And it's a (fictional) rhythm guitarist, not the drummer...

Have to agree DJB he ain't

Well I think this version (singer) sounds good Danny is passed on R.I.P. But I'm kinda prejudiced DJB is my cousin and I remember him quite well I'm A bit younger than him but I used to get to see them for free when they were in town and he inspired me to start up a band. But this guy is doing pretty good.
scruffy2112 2 years ago
There will NEVER be a DJB. His voice WAS Hatchet! Incredible musicianship for certain and when DJB brought that growling vocal, it was ON!
pastorsc01 2 years ago
FAGGOT.
777jackpot1 2 years ago
Sorry you disagree jackpot. True Hatchet fans understand. Nothing against this lineup at all. I just grew up listening to DJB and I'm prejudiced.
Nice use of words and upper case letters though.
pastorsc01 2 years ago 3
yeah--it's not danny, but i haven't seen anyone with danny's voice or stage presence. it's a cool tune--these guys are giving it their best. i've met dave--he was really cool. talked for several hours. molly has a strong fan base--always will. today's idea of music with all the bullshit we're getting from the industry to american idol--i'd love to find someone with 1/2 of danny's talent & start writing. we'll see a change at some point--music is everchanging--i hope it's soon.

This new singer needs to back off of the Methamphetamine. This guy in no way does any justice to this classic song.
As a musician myself, I could pull this song off in a way that does Danny Joe justice.
Realhippy 2 years ago
I could as well. But, that's the thing. A lot of us can, but they just don't seem to search far enough to find somebody better.

Good band, GREAT song, aweful singer- sorry.
Callmps 2 years ago
Agreed. It took a minute before I realized that it wasn't Danny Jo Brown singing. This guy can't sing for shit. This is like watching some drunk trying to hold his own at karaoke.
daddymak9 2 years ago
Well hell, if it took you a minute to realize that it was DJB singing, then I'd say that Phil is doing a great job!!
For all the people bitching that they could sing it better, jump the fuck on the stage and have at it. I guess it's always easier to sit behind a keyboard and rip on someone than to actually get off your worthelsss asses and put a band together huh?
lscrisp 2 years ago 2
More like this guy sucks so bad, it took me a minute to realize that it wasn't Danny Joe Brown. While you're sucking Phil's dick, tell him I said he can't sing for shit.
