  • HOLY POOP ARGHHHHH i cant do the pedal fold -.-

  • @XDCheyXD

    You can do it!

Just watch the moves until you have memorized them... and only then, apply them on your piece of paper!

    :-)

  • best tutorials on net, thanks

  • @Occultaz

Thanks to you, for such kind and rewarding words!

    :-D

  • can you make a tutorial of a more complex model?

    (not origami for all)

  • @alberlos

Well, the problem with more complex models... is that I don't know if I'm actually able to make them...

By the way, I could always try.

Did you have anything specific in mind?

    ^_^

  • a little audio instruction would go a long way in these

  • @HolyD666

    You are right!

The problem is that I don't have that much experience with origami (and I did have even less, when I posted this video) and that origami has its own very specific terminology... consider also that English is not my first language...

So, if I tried to both fold and explain at the same, it would probably end in a complete mess.

Hopely by concentrating on folding I can better show what's needed!

Anyway, I thank you for your kind opinion!

    ^_^

  • @danbergam you can fold when doing the vid and when its done watch the vid and record ur audio instructions

  • @forjavligt

    Yes, I could.

But I don't know if I could speak fast enough without getting ties on my tongue!

    ^_^;;

  • dont know what your doing at step 3 so i gave up

  • @ohnsted

Give it another try! First of all, be sure to make, before this video, the preliminary base (link in the description), and to begin with the open part down.

Now. With steps 1 & 2 you create a pre-crease on each one of the four flaps: with step 3 you use this pre-crease for to reverse inside the more external little triangle.

The lower side of the romb (that is, the base of that little triangle) must end overlapping with the vertical axis of the romb itself.

    Hope this helps..

  • do you know hoy to make the millennium falcon with bird base? it's better than people do on youtube

  • Honestly, this is the first time in my life that I hear about it... I suppose I'll do a research!

  • @danbergam

    xD

there are a lot of models of star wars, but the originals are some difficult. i've some of these.

    some are interesting

  • Oh, it is related to Star Wars! ^_^;;

Anyway, I think I've found a good tutorial about it (the person demonstrating it goes slowly): in YouTube research:

    millennium falcon

and chose the video in which a black sheet of paper is used!

  • im not changing anything but you did to much stuff i did that in less than 30 seconds in my way im not judging you 5/5

  • Ok.

I got written and illustrated diagrams showing how to make this, and I simply followed them: so, there wasn't "too much stuff", considering that, after all, the resulting crane base *has to be that way*.

Glad for you, if you made it in 30 seconds.

Simply, I'm not interested in making fast origami tutorials: what matters to me is that even a beginner may follow them.

  • i think there is some easier ways to make that figure. And it makes me suprised, why it takes so long? I was trying to make a dragon, and tutorial was about 15 minutes. Yeah, i had to stop it and repeat, but at third time it was enough.

  • This is the way to make it I've learnt following a book: it works and to me that's enough.

If you know easier ways to make it, then you should make a video tutorial for to share your knowledge.

It takes so long because I intentionally go slow so that even one who's never tried origami before may easily follow/make it.

If you think back to your first origami times, when making a dragon used to seem almost impossible, you'll remember how each fold used to take you quite a lot... more than now.

  • its rly actually kinda funny.

    i rely agree with rickman.

im lyke WTTFFFF..?!?!?!?!?!....oh...there we go (:

    love the tuts man.

    keep 'em coming

    :]

  • Thank you so much, you've put a smile on my face!

    :-)

  • hmm... the crane base seems harder than the frog base at first, bur its actually easier :) is it ideal to learn all the bases first before learning to make the animals n flowers?

  • I think that to learn and know something more is always good: one may end needing that piece of knowledge, soon or late!

So, to learn the bases first is anyway a valid approach and strategy!

    ^_^

    Happy learning!

  • haha it makes me laugh how I can spend so long on one step going mad and then I do it all of a sudden and I'm like 'Oh. That wasn't so hard. What took me so long?!' :D

  • Jokes apart, what you've written totally makes sense.

It's the difficulty in facing/winning over a particular step/thing: once you've understood and made it, it's easy as pie!

    :-D

  • this isnt hard . if you want to see hard check origami rose

  • First of all, what isn't hard for an expert may be hard enough for a beginner: even the most expert origamist was a beginner, once upon a time.

In second place, there are many harder models for which this base needs to be made for first.

That's why this video has its reason to be, no matter how many hard origami roses are out there!

  • This is super confusing!! Can you please tell me some tips? I took my time and all but still! Please help I'm going insane!!!

  • First of all, calm down: it's a piece of paper and there's no need to go insane.

The steps are numbered just because who's watching may tell me - can you explain steps number. x and y ? -

So, what steps may I try to explain?

  • Its oddly quite calming to just sit in front of the computer and just watch you folding paper XD

lol i think im going insane =]

  • Oh my!

    A calm insanity?!?!

    xD

Haha, no, don't worry, you're not going insane!

It's just the Relaxing Power of Origami (TM) having its effect on you as well!

    ;-)

  • ty soo much ur videos r like the best on youtube that i have seen! gj keep making more!!

  • Yours is one of the first comments I've read today... thank you for the big smile of satisfaction suddenly appeared on my face!

  • Yes, thank you for sharing these. :)

  • :-)))

  • These are great! :) It's so much better being shown than trying to follow drawn directions.

  • Thank you very, very much! :-)

You're right, in my opinion as well to show the real thing is way better than to draw it!

    ^_^

  • thanks, i feel like i've got hope

i just want to make one good origami and then I'll be happy

    xxxx thanks

  • I'm sure you'll be able to make it... and in my mind I can already see your smile and your joy: to have the finished origami in your hands and to think - I did it! - is just a great satisfaction! ^_^

    Thanks to you!

    xxx

  • Oh, sorry about that... is there any particular step giving you problems?

  • it was step 3 to 4, it started to confuse me

  • Ok. First of all, be sure to have done, before this video, the preliminary base (the link is in the description), and to begin with the open part down.

Now. With steps 1 & 2 you create a pre-crease on each one of the four flaps: with step 3 you use this pre-crease for to reverse inside the more external little triangle.

The lower side of the romb (that is, the base of that little triangle) must end overlapping with the vertical axis of the romb itself.

    Hope this helps...

  • ohhhh.. ok

  • Yea right 29 pieces of paper?

  • Hmm, is there supposed to be sound?

  • At the very beginning (but even now, because I'm still an origami newbie) I used to prefer silence, when folding, for not to be distracted... in my late origami videos I've begun to add some natural soundscapes (seas, woods and such)... by the way, one could always put up some of its favourite music in any music player: Media/Real/iPod/Hi-Fi/whatever! ^_^

Let me thank you for having asked that in such a nice way: sadly, someone asked the same thing too much rudely... :-\

    Have a good day! ^_^

  • Hi again Dan!! I got back into origami and I thought your videos would be a good way to start! Thsi base was complex but I'll get it right :)

  • Well, thank you so much for your loyalty, my friend! ^_^

Oh, for sure you'll get it right: you got an amazing amount of at least one of the most important ingredients required... patience!

    :-)

May your forecoming times be like a beautiful origami: it takes patience, work hard, precision, will... but at the end the result is just beautiful and rewarding! :-D

  • i love these 'origami for all' video courses they're great and i like the lady's systematic way of teaching people who know nuts about origami, such as mwah, how to fold wonderful 3D origami. thanx 4 the posts :) i think i've just found me a new hobby..

  • Thank you very much!

And I like that adjective, "systematic", because it really fits with the method I've tried to organize these tutorials with!

    By the way... I'm not a lady! I'm a man, the one you can see at 0:09 in the opening titles! ^_^;;

But, anyway, thank you very much for your enthusiasm: glad to know you've found a new hobby! :-D

    Dan

  • this looked very complex in my view o.O

    but my view's screwed XD

  • xD

Oh, don't worry: origami always makes this effect, the first time... but I can grant you that it isn't so complex, after all...

Well... it also depends from the design! ^_^

    Thank you for stopping by!

  • thx! ur origami vids r rly gd, they hlp me a lot! ((:

  • Thank you very much, your words made me smile! :-D

  • Thank you! This helped me a lot.:)

  • Thanks *to you*, for having let me know!

    :-D

  • Is't the 1000 cranes thing called a semba zuru? Anyway, I think that the video was great!( well they all are! I've come to expect that from you!)I also think it's interesting how your very first crane isn't the greatest but by the 1000th it's near perfection!

  • I had to search in Google, for to find it out... ^_^;; I'm just a beginner, with origami: yes, the 1000 cranes thing is known as senbazuru.

You're right... they say "practice makes perfection": I believe it's true! :-)

Thank you very much for your appreciation, I'll do my best for to make these videos even better!

  • aaaah eu adorooo origaami.

Dan, parabééns, voce ensina supeer beem, a gnt consegue acompanhaar e não errar !

Well done.. this lessons go to only lesson 13 ?

  • :-D

Obrigado! Você é muito delicado! Eu estou sorrindo!

    More lessons will come! :-)

  • Dan, very well done ! I always like it when someone provides high quality origami building blocks . You are helping people learn, instead of simply " showing off " ! Thank you , and please do more, as time and energy permit . Ciao ! ;>]

  • Thank you very much, your words are always so rewarding! :-)

    I'll never renounce to the building blocks, it'd be absurd to show an origami from the square paper to the final figure, through 100 steps, without making clear that some were used also in ten previous models! ^_^;;

So, you want more (thanks for those clarifications! :-D)?! Hmmm, I suspect that *today* you'll have more! In the end, 1000 cranes begin with one...
