  • hey thanks for doing this video cant understand why some people are jerks

I am looking to buy a guitar and this video really helped out alot

  • THAT'S THE SAME GUITAR MY TEACHER HAS!!! :D

  • I have this guitar, same sunburst and all. I'm replacing the pick ups with Texas Specials, a new bridge and input jack. Gold tuning keys and maybe a new neck with jumbo frets. It does go out of tune WAY to easy.

  • I love the Fender...it's perfect and you can do everything!

This is a very cool looking guitar.my dad got it for me for an early christmas gift, and i love it! sounds very cool, anything from nirvana to metallica.very pleased.the whammy bar doesn't work too well, or that might be me, but every thing it comes with are great, for a ten watt amp, it really kicks and it is loud!!!!! the tuner is ...

  • This video is stupid. If you think that this guitar is a shit then why did you even buy it..

this video is not a review, this is a criticize to fender starcaster, this was my first guitar and i am still happy with it and btw you suck at guitar...

  • @zeldalink322 This video is exactly what the title says it is, a demonstration of the sound you can get out of the guitar through the stock amp. You're absolutely right this isn't a review, I never said it was. This was my first guitar and i am still happy with it too, and btw this is a demonstration of the tones, not a demonstration of my skill... chill out.

  • @zeldalink322 Well, its kind of a shitty guitar. He's allowed to criticize it. Don't be offended just because its your first guitar. First guitars are typically shitty anyways.

  • Starcaster was a semi hollow body guitar built in the early to mid 70's guess fender is just using it's copyright for evil.

"This is a real solid Jazz Bass, made in Indonesia (at Cort's factory). Uses a Squier neck plate. Qualitywise this is exactly like a Squier Standard and nicer than an equivalent Affinity. The neck feels smooth and there is no fretsprout of sharp edges. The tuners are sturdy enough and stay in tune. I have extra Highway 1 tuners for ..."

  • At least is a Fender and not a cheap crappy copy of a strat.

  • @Lobo9272 it is a cheap crappy copy of a strat. the squier strats are better than this.

  • alright so i have a guitar collection worth over 15k and believe this guitar blows stock... beginer its great, once you get better you can eithier buy a new guitar or a new neck and some new fender pick ups. take it from the guitar goo roo lol if you guys have any questions about guitar stuff feel free to message me about your questions. i reapiar and set up guitars too. but only localy do too shipping prices but if you need help or have problems just send me a message. even the video person.

  • @EVERYTHINGELECTRON1C

i have a question bro more like what would u recommend. im into playin blues and reggae . im lookn to buy a cheap decent guitar . i was recommend fenders and les paul . but les pauls are far beyond my reach lol . what would u recommend me bro?

  • @MrPeter310 epiphone les paul special II is a good guitar.. apparently the squier classic vibe tele's are great, mine is a fender though

  • @MrPeter310 a real strat is prolly way beyond your reach then...as they are 700 and up..this is a real fender but it is NOT a real strat...just like you can get a les paul(epiphone)...but it will NOT be a real gibson...what you need to decide is do you need humbuckers or not...id say not...so get a mexican strat...about 450$...would be my advice...but again its up to you....good luck!

  • thanks bro...iam going 2 buy me this at best buy its on sale for 99 bucks .......keep making great vids ,now i can learn ow 2 play guitar..awesome.. make soem playing vids to tach beginger plz thanks iam subing u ...

  • Could you play something heavier with this equipment? Thanks

  • That was my first ever big name brand guitar but the whammy bar does not only take the guitar out of tune it also messes up the bridge by moving the rods that keep the string and the bridge attach to the guitar body makin the bridge rise and it sounds different u can help that from preventing by opening up the back and checking the rods and make sure they r in place

  • I had this for Christmas yay! i want to be the best female guitarist ever !

  • i really like the sound of this guitar, because i like tha acoustic better than the electric but if you are looking for a good looking guitar with a clear sweet sound like an acoustic this is your guitar i mean it really worth the money didn't it?

  • it does kinda sound like an acoustic.. i want a beginner electric guitar that doesn't sound like an acoustic, that sounds like an electric guitar

  • @xNmilesx It's not the guitar that sounds like acoustic. In the video, he didn't put the distortion on. If he put the distortion on the amplifier, you'd get heavy metal.

  • @hkchoi456 ohh

  • Please, if you're going to do a guitar review at least know that the "closest one to you" is the neck pickup and the furthest is the "Bridge pickup". Also, hold your pick properly and plant your wrist by the bridge so that you're more accurate with your strumming. Also, show us the distortion sounds.Other than that it was okay.

  • It sounds very much like an acoustic guitar. Yeahhh... I think I won't be buying this. I'm gonna buy a $1300 gibson les paul studio with chrome hardware and a $1300 fender twin reverb. I want to start off with great sounding equipment.

  • @RainbowConure that's cool, i didn't want to spend a whole lot on a guitar... yours is 935% more expensive than mine.

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 by the way, control volume on the amp always keep guitar volume full or you just loose out on tone :)

  • @RainbowConure its not the guitar to make you sound great i practised on a cheap chinese electric for 4 years ive only just laybuyed my 1800$ strat keep that in mind id rather start cheap.

  • @RainbowConure Dude, It's not the guitar that sounds acoustic. It all matters on the amplifier. The amplifier distorts the sound. So even if you have a 50$ guitar with a 200$ amp, you'll get good sound.

  • @RainbowConure check on craigslist you can get that 1300 les paul in brand new condition for only 450-600 bucks

  • @RainbowConure thats cos its being played on a really shitty amp, a really shitty amp. Maybe I got lucky but mine is fine. Im still gonna switch pickups on it but it sounds good. my only problem is the frets need to be shaved cos they stick out too much

  • @RainbowConure haha go on craigslist and get all of that for 1400 all together

  • @RainbowConure Dude that is because he didn't distort it yet.

  • what the diference between starcast and strat?

  • @iankevinyea5 quality, sound, and whole lot more. if you have the money get a strat

  • sounds alot better than i thought it would have awesome :D

  • Lol like a Stratocaster.

  • you forgot to rock the poopy distortion!

  • Can someone make a video playing Back In Black with this guitar?

  • can u take of the wamy bar

  • @DavidV285 yes you can. i got one

  • what was the song were playing in this

  • @togaman10 That chord progression can literally be hundreds of songs...its a basic progressions, G -> D -> C -> Em

  • Where do people keep finding these maple-fretted Starcasters? I don't think it makes a difference in sound, I just think it looks better. :)

  • My first guitar was a mini strat, my current setup is an ESP LTD M100QMNT and my amp is a Line 6 spider III 50w

  • Get a 120w.

  • Dude, I really think that's not a Fender Original guitar

  • @MrBlackFactory I think Squier actually make these Starcasters.

  • thats cool i have a squair fender its a cool one

  • Can you play this guitar like the a typical electric guitar? Like can you do power solos?

  • i have one has custom mod the shit out of now i love it i replaced the bridge pickup with a humbucker put in more springs in the back adjusted the action and fixed the whammy bar its nice to know how to turn a piece of shit guitar to a good one

  • So I have a question to anyone who can answer, I want to get a starcaster and get it set up so its like Jeff Becks guitar, I only have 2 concerns, 1, would it be wise? Or should i just spring for a normal strat to do this to? & 2. Would it screw up the guitar (since i belive theyd have to drill more) to take out this crap tremlo and put in Jeff Becks? Anyone who knows please respond, Very important

  • how are the tuners? do they keep tuning good after few songs?

  • That's a Starcaster by Fender, not a Fender Starcaster. ;)

  • where did u get the guitar from =-]

  • high five man . for playing weezer's- say it aint so

  • lol at the rock band dryms in the background.

  • have it, and i hate it.

  • where did you find that tune that your playing thats the stuff i really like

  • what cords are those???????????????????????

  • Nice review but learn how to hold a pick

  • i have this guitar i use it allot and the thing is in good shape and i understand what you mean by the whammy bar mine doesn't even fit in the tremolo i have had it for 2 years now but other than that i think it is a good beginner guitar but its not that great sounding so i got a new amp (roland cube 40xl) and a digitech hot head distortion pedal and it sounds great overall 7/10 including the amp and pedal it will take a while to work out the kinks the truss rod has to be adjusted and thats it.

  • wat song r u playin

  • Thank you for this! Peace 2 All!

  • I have one of these owned by maybe 2-3 other people before me whammy bar does make the guitar come out of tune.I would like to know how many years it takes for the pickguard to start to change color into that yellowish tints that vintage stuff has?My amp also same crappy little thing XD cable is now loose all the time when you plug it in but its old so..

  • The whammy bar is meant for about a .5-.75 octave shift, you're pushing it to about 1.5-1.75shift, ease up on it and it won't drop tune.

  • And for the love of God, Learn something other than Jack Johnson and Weezer

  • Obviously you're gonna get out of tune when you hammer on the tremelo like a fucking ape. Ease up on the whammy and it probably wont drop out on you.

  • this guitar whit a fender mustang 1 o r a fender frontman 25g is really good, it´s chip and it sound very great

  • SQUIER BULLET BEST STARTER GUITAR get a peavy vyper 15 and its awesome

  • standard amp?

  • @killianshows yes

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 cool

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 who taught you how 2 play

  • how does that wavy stick i think its called a hand rest or something how does it out of tune the guitar??

  • @ahkrulzthewholeplace whammy bar? it bends the notes and the doesn't go back to the original pitch due to poor setup of the guitar. taking it to a pro shop and having it set up should fix the problem

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 Yeah, that happens to me often. Fortunately, I don't have to worry about it, because I broke my whammy bar....A chunk of it is stuck in my guitar.

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 if your ever thinking about getting another guitar like if you wanted a high quality tremilo system try a ibanez rg350 real cheap for the quality it takes problay a month beore coming out of tune but its more of a metal guitar (which i love) and showing the music you were playing u might not like it but its good for any music

  • LEARN ANOTHER SONG!!!!!!!!

  • @zeldalink322 suggestions?

  • @zeldalink322 Rock songs for distortion demostrations

  • I got the 10watt amp with my Starcaster & its shite.. got a 50watt amp now & it kicks ass! :P

  • @Paulwaite11 now that's some power haha :P

  • @Paulwaite11 whit a 20w or a 25w you can play guitar at home. Whit a 50w amp, you make your neighbors become crazy when you play guitar, and you too xd

  • I've gotta 300watt amp now... time to piss the entire street off :P

  • @Paulwaite11 I'm still using that shitty 10 watt. :( A new amp is next on my purchase list though. :P What amp did you get?

  • I have a Squier Stratocaster & 300watt amp now xD

  • i actually got a starcaster by my dads uncle xD i actually hate it!! i almost never use it but im gonna buy some new parts and stuff and make the guitar much betther tough :D

  • Notice a little weezer in the Guitar 4:54 (Song: Say it aint so)

  • hey man for you which is better to starting playing guitar, your fender starcaster o the squier by fender, which is the difference and which you recommend

  • Why are people saying Gibson OR Les Paul. First of all, Gibson is the company that makes Gibson Les Pauls. Les paul is the specific type guitar and its full name can vary depending on the brand (like the gibson les paul, Epiphone les paul, etc.)

  • How is it different to a strat? I thought you got the name wrong to begin with until I saw the headstock.

  • @J4m3z1 a lot cheaper electronics and pickups, the overall build of the guitar isn't up to par with the actual strat.

  • Comment removed

  • @boomroastedhb dude piss off this is probably one of his first guitars and not everyone can afford a gibson or a les paul your a fucking moron.

  • @eggbert4001 gibson makes les pauls smart ass

  • @sk8rgarrett he said "gibson or a les paul" you silly billy

  • @sk8rgarrett he said "gibson or les paul" you silly billy, plus gibson dont only make les pauls

  • i stopped watching this video as soon as he said whammy bar.... ITS A FUCKNIG TREMOLO ARM UNDERSTAND THIS PEOPLE! it tremolos sound it dosent fucking whammy, the word whammy appears nowhere in musical terminology.

  • @tocrazy4cabbage Holy shit, calm down dude, Tremolo arm is the correct musical terminology but everyone knows it as a whammy bar.

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 The guys in the UK call it a whammy bar, so I guess it's fine with me. :P

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 Agreed

  • Respond to this video... hows it work with playing more heavy metal

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 twat its called vibrato arm not tremolo thats the "correct musical terminology" seems u know alot about what tremolo and vibrato means

  • @tocrazy4cabbage If you want to get technical about it it's a vibrato arm, actually; Leo Fender got the terms 'tremolo' and 'vibrato' mixed up when applying for patents. Tremolo is a variation in volume. Vibrato is a variation in pitch and, therefore, the technically correct terminology.

Now stop being so fucking pedantic about it.

  • @tocrazy4cabbage Actually it is called a vibrato bar

  • @tocrazy4cabbage Actually it is called a vibrato bar.

  • @123eddyg actually thats it's second name, officially its a tremolo.

  • @tocrazy4cabbage You might want to be absolutely certain you are right before you go nuts trying to make a point. It's not a "tremolo arm" and it never has been, regardless of whether that name has been applied to it in the past. It's a vibrato bar; it has nothing to do with swells in volume (which is what tremolo is). And at this point in history, the term "whammy bar" is accepted and understood as a synonym for vibrato bar. But, again, it has NOTHING to do with tremolo.

  • @ifutureman omg i'm sooooo sorry, you should wright to fender and tell them that they've been wrong all these years... didn't know fender did a Fender Wammy System i thought it was the Fender Tremolo System but fender must be wrong *slaps my wrist* naughty boy me -_- fucking 40 year old small time cunt get your videos of you tube and put yourself on stage.

  • @tocrazy4cabbage Anyone who knows anything about guitar knows that Fender used the word "tremolo" incorrectly, and the misnomer managed to take hold. It wasn't like Fender was the first one to invent a vibrato arm either; Bigsby did it first. Fender also screwed up and called the tremolo effect on a lot of Fender amps by the name "vibrato". This is all old news, except to some stupid fuck like you, mr cabbage.

  • @ifutureman i like how you take my youtube name and then automatically amuse im some troll, this is actually a random account i made for a joke, in reality, i actually play on stage and gigs, including the download festival in England, i'ver way dude you still suck...

  • @tocrazy4cabbage No, I didn't "amuse" you were some troll, nor did I assume you were one. I assumed, correctly, that you are an asshole. I've played on stage at gigs plenty too. It's not that big a deal. Either way, you made a huge deal out of your insistence that a vibrato unit (or "whammy bar" in generally accepted usage) should be referred to (incorrectly) as a tremolo unit. Then, when a few people pointed out you were wrong, you threw a shit fit like a little bitch.

  • @ifutureman riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, listen, instead of arguing with people over the internet like a loser, your the one making the biggest deal about this, dude just chill out and take a pill, you really need quite with the tought guy talk "threw a shit fit like a little bitch"? thats hardly the talk for a man in his 40s to someone who's a in there late teens, and shows not a big deal? ye your show probably wasn't im speaking of download festival in Briton over 70,000 people, that a deal

  • Does the amp have a headphone socket? :o.

  • @anomaly768 yes

  • haha.. i almost bought one of those.. =)

  • I didn't even bother installing the whammy bar on mine. I have a question: Mine was made in China and it's fretboard is made of a very dark wood, I don't remember what, but I know the neck hasn't been replaced because I bought it new (I got it on Ebay, but it was in the unopened original packaging). Did yours get a different fretboard because it was made somewhere different, or what?

  • @GasSnake2003 you prob. got a rosewood fretboard

  • Hey Matt, I have been looking for the best bang for the buck in learning. I have never touched a guitar bit have a music back ground. Thx for the vid. Bought it today. Now, is there a good youtube lesson vid?

  • Hey Matt,

    Good video on that guitar.

Watch this guy's video and you will never worry about your trem system again: His name is Galeazzo Frudua. Just search Frudua on you tube and find the How to keep your strat temolo in tune. It's great

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 where did you get a distortion pedal for around 10 bucks?

  • Can't you say 'three' properly...

  • Nice guitar! Thanks for the demo :)

  • Sounds better than i would have expected

  • I have one of these guitars, but itz all chopped up now have EMG SA20 active pickups in mine and other little goodies

  • @Janicemaxwell Stop trollin

  • @chaosmilkshake its not trolling its critiquing

  • nice vid but learn how to hold a pick

  • Was the thing you were playing an actual song?

  • I'm sorry but your guitar playing is atrocious and when giving a demo on the guitar you should use the correct terminology so instead of saying, "the switch that is furthest from my body" the correst way would be to say, "this switch position uses the bridge pick-ups, or this uses the neck pick ups or the middle pick up" so that someone knows which pick ups sound like.

You also are utilizing the Tremelo bar incorrectly so of course it's going to go out of tune. Work on your playing too

  • When you move the whammy bar you can hear a little "tink". Use a regular pencil and one string at time...pop it out of the nut slot and draw/rotate/scrape with the pencil.into the nut. Get it? Get the graphite from the pencil into the grooves of the nut. Then put the string back in it's grove and use the eraser to clean the excess from the nut! Also when you use the bar...make a conscious effort to give it a quick "snap" back to the starting point. Good job on the vid! Hope this helps.

  • Great. thanks that helps a lot.

  • Great thanks that helps a lot.

  • does the guitar have rock tone??

  • @buzz00701 not really, i bought a cheap first act distortion pedal for around 10 bucks that works great and has an awesome rock tone.

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 i have this and if u run it through a marshall 10 watt it has perfect metal pop rock punk classic wat ever u want

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 Bought this same starter pack when I wanted to include guitar in with my bass playing. A detla labs rock distortion is a perfect compliment to this set (as the distortion on the amp sucks balls). Also picked a used crybaby from a friend later on, so the set suffices for any beginner.

  • @buzz00701

They're good for Blues, R&b, Country, & Soul.

  • what effects were used?

  • @dare4distance69 no effects, just the standard settings on the amp and guitar, it's pretty much the only sounds you can get out of the amp.

  • @dare4distance69 the amp has over drive which worked fine for me untill i got a distortion pedal, which of course sounds better.

  • hhm yeah it was out of tune the whole vid

  • things don't seem to have gotten any better with any of the other trem systems. i prefer the 6 screws over the 2 point trem on the 2 squiers i own! well done anyway.

  • what songs do you play in this demo

  • Peice of shit.

  • @masonrox2547 like your mom right

  • I had that same SP 10 amp 2 years ago when I bought a squier strat pack. I bought a line 6 and a marshall a year later, both 15 watts and It made my guitar sound a lot better. But you play good. Nothin against your amp.

  • i own one of these the whammy bar broke off and the pickups went to shit in a hurry. so i repainted it rasta colors and put the pickups from an old harmony in it. it plays great now. but if u want a good guitar for fairly cheap go with ESP

  • If you set it up properly the whammy bar will not put the guitar out of tune...

  • the whammy Bar might not put the guitar out of tune if you used it right

  • your pretty good, i cant realy make judgments because i dont play guitar i play bass lol but that sounded pretty good

  • the starcaster is good for beginners, but i would'nt recomend it if you're thinking on getting serious on guitar. It's of poor value considering the poor pickups, the poor wiring, and the tremolo bar tends to cause the guitar to fall unreasonably out of tune while playing, a nightmare at gigs. Also, the frets and neck fade very quickly and usually cause a very ugly, tinny sound. Good video though.

  • If i had an electric guitar i would play metal and this which is like acoustic. But the video is great.

  • in this guitar can play styles like rock?

  • what genres of music do you recommend for this guitar? i have a starcaster but its shit and i like to play heavy metal, what artists would you recommend i spend my time practicing with?

  • i own a early version of this guitar and i found exxelent ways to have metal disortion i would recemend going with a better guitar howeveer i was very lucky to fix it were metal and disortion was actually good

  • this guitar can play good you just have to have a good touch with the guitar period

  • your demonstration is very poor , we cant see well the head of the guitar, the mechanics, and the back of the guitar.

  • @yannedge Why would you need to see the head of the guitar? this isn't a review, it is a demonstration of the sounds that the guitar is able to output with the stock amp. In my unboxing and review of the guitar i show the almost every aspect of the guitar.

  • @MattCarlBMWZ3 oooooooook, sorry for this bad comment, I probably dont understand that it was a demonstration of the sounds, I was thinking that you want to show us the guitar, sorry sometimes Idont understand english cos im french......best regards.

  • hold the pick right

  • u really don't know what ur talking about :P

  • I got this one in black

  • i just got this one upgraded from a cheap 99$ walmart guitar, but that guitar when i plugged it into my computer and used an FL Studio amp, sounded GREAT. i had to buy new strings for it then the sound really came out. so im looking forward to using this with new strings.

  • The whammy bar... That's how you win the battles... :)

  • Very nice Matt!
