Further to that previous post, a note to other commentors.

If you've not spent significant time in the mountains, training to deal with and experiencing avalanches you have NOTHING to contribute with regards to grabbing beacons, filming, size, reaction or anything else.

When a slide starts there are two things only in mind. Where do I need to be and step one of the search and rescue procedures.

That said, keeping the camera on the slide could provide a backup "last seen" reference.

Particularly about how concave slopes below a cornice are about the worst place to be in terms of likelihood of slides? ;o)

2 things concern me tho:

"Does he have a beacon on?" Is that a serious question? I'd hope you all would and check before setting out.

Also, I don't see many backpacks. Do you all carry shovels and probes? Beacons are useless without them.

@Woody615 beacons have 3 modes... off as in the batteries don't go dead... transmitt and search... when your out you turn the unit on and put it on transmit mode...if someone gets burried the guys above then change their beacons from transmit to detect mode. beacons they don't work like the recco system, which are pointless because nobody has those freakin things in the bc.
