If Bhutan want to progress alongside other nations, it has to up its game and the first and most important stage is to generate a healthy supply of clean energy and water for its people, thus building this dam. Building it would prevent the small nation been victimised and tied down by the shackles of energy generated by fosil fuels. I believe this is the right choice as I know been on work experience in an hydroelectric facility myself.
please dont think bhutan is some fairyland country..be real..like any country bhutan has many problems..royal family have snatched lands from the people..kings corrupt fatherinlaw and his family have literally made people poor..but foreginers dont know that..bhutan is one of the most corrupt country in the world which starts frm the king to his loyalists....save bhutan!!
Haha, you have no idea what you're talking about. Our wilderness is sustainable, it's not the fault of European countries that other regions of the world can't manage the same.
That's not true, here in Europe we recovered from a period of intense pollution from industrial wastes in the 1980s, and the forests are looking greener and more healthy than in a long time. The filters and cleaners installed in many factories have helped, but overall it matters little if 3rd world countries like China keep skipping environmental concerns. And for now that's their problem, not ours.
bhutan is a very peaceful country with lot of potential....but until and unless the ROYAL FAMILY (especialy the queens family) and this so called democracy and democratic leaders are out of power i see no hope for such lovely country...

Good report AlJazeera.
As a Canadian, I only have my local CBC station and you for this kind of report.
Sadly, I can't rely on United States media for honest news, like I did in the past.
Keep up the good work, Fred in Toronto
