to an extent, i prefer using reason for synths and samples. However, cubase does have its good synths and samples and i've never used prologue in music tech yet :P
@GuitaristEliKing i use FL Studio, i feel like this program does a lot of the work for you. i dunno maybe its just some of the sounds on it. Fl studio is harder to mix with
When I export all my creation from a Tascam 01 recorder into cubase software, there is some static sounds going in with it. What can I do to stop this unwanted static sound
Please help. I'm completely new in using Cubase 4. I just want to record at the moment ez drummer tracks + guitar playing. Here is the problem, I start Cubase> create new project> select the desired location> go to Project > new instrument> I select the VST instrument (in this case Ez drummer). I play ezdrummer and Cubase is recognizing the sound signal because the track displays the sound level change. But when I click on record, cubase doesn't records anything. What am I missing here????
Please help: FL, Cubase, or Reason? These seem to be the hardest hitting on the web in terms of choice. What I need is something that can make a symphony orchestra sound as real as it can. What do you suggest? What plugins do I need? I am not concerned about the kepboard...just the software and plugins if needed. I would really appreciate the advice. I don't care about making hip hop beats or anything else. I am only interested in making a symphony orchestra come to life. Thanks YouTubers!
it dosent matter wich daw you have, its about the plugin and your hardware (being able to handle all of the voice, osc, ect) steinbergs orchestra plugins are supposed to be really good,
For orchestral music, Cubase would be the most suitable of the 3 DAW programs you mentioned.
For orchestral samples, Garritan Personal Orchestra is a great pack for the value. If you have more to spend, go for EastWest Symphonic Orchestra, which comes in silver/gold/platinum versions. The complete collection of Vienna orchestral samples is supposed to be some of the best though, but it's absolutely massive and expensive.
@matrixate I won't say that FL studio is the best, BUT for a beginner, I would strongly recommend it. There's nothing wrong with FL studio, you can do really anything you want with it, but other programs have some other advantages. You won't be able to see musical notation in FL though, which would be nice if you're interested in making orchestrals. I would recommend composing in Finale and then import it into FL studio for more realistic sounds.
Planning to built a new PC and Use Cubase 4 as my main recording program. what's a the good/best PC Specs (cpu, ram, soundcard etc..) that won't freeze, crackle and skips while I'm using Cubase 4? thanks for the help!
i have bought and been using Cubase 5 for about a little more then a month now.. & i've noticed that the play bar has began to lagg a little bit... i was wondering if anyones experienced this aswell & what i should do..?
Doesn't matter what software you use, it's how you use it that matters... Sound is produced using the same way in all programs... believe me, DSP compression,EQ and synthesis algorithms are not any different in both programs (FL and Cubase). Besides, it doesn't cost me anything to rewire FL, and even Reason...
I am the biggest VST n00b, and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to record software vst's in nuendo, if anyone can tell me, that would rock :P can do everything else basically but this
reason is pretty much just a vst with a bunch of vst's in it. it has a sequencer but its not great. i use reason and rewire it into protools. it works great. and some pro's do still use FL studios , for example Benga uses fl studios.
I got Cubase LE 4 with my Digitech RP350 multi-fx processor, used it fine for a couple of days, it kept asking me to register, and i tried 5 times, i found the eLicenser Number and received my activation code, but it doesn't tell me what to do with it or where to enter it. if someone could help me i would be most grateful, thanks.
mikesontrak I am going to be real with you, FL was good for it's time , but other clients have elevated the bar so far past what fruity loops could ever reach its astounding to say the least. Cubase 4 rocks I own it, and it's easy to use and so much more reliable.
reason has not by far the possiblities as cubase. all the pros use cubase. reason is ok but just the facts that you cant work with audio in reason or have speed automation is an argument to use cubase.
i think this is too cluttered too use its almost like Reason...any one agree?....i think fl studio is better to get your beat down then switch it over to adobe audition for vocals
@smetal22 I can say the same thing about Ableton. Tried it and then moved on to Cubase. Much easier to use and the support from Steinberg is top notch. Had registration problems and they fixed it. Had VST problems and they fixed it. Great support. Could never even get the time of day from Ableton. It was like we got ours now we don't care. Very disappointing. Now with Cubase life is grand.
abobe audition is rubbish for vocals comparing to cubase if its to confusing then i would just say to use cubase 3 its a very easy to use DAW for recording and producing
fl studio is mostly used by beginners, most pros and i mean pros by famous artisits use pro tools and intermediates up to pros use cuabse or nuendo, depends totally on what you want to do with it,im a cubase fan myself, tried everything else including fl and cubase floats my boat lol
yo i need help. i have this program. and i thought u could only record music. with instruments, i dident even know it had eletrinic instruments in it.. its perfect.. but 1 problem.. I CANT FIND INSTRUMENTS!
if u do have cubase 4, create a new track by go onto: project, highlight "add track", select "instrument", a window will appear, before u click "ok" make sure u change from "No VST instrument" to HALionONE and then click "ok".
Now, u got a VST channle, select that channle, look on ur left hand side, find programs, click it and there should be all the eletrinic instruments u got. u can get more of the manufactured site by upgrading it.
halion 1 is actually more superb than they said, u can actually make music(not vocal) without recordin, u just directly make music through cubase, make the tunes in the cubase itself!which is mothafuckin incredible!!!!!
No it can't. Rap died some years ago, right around when people like 50 cent and other shit-producers started pumping crap out to the public. Sorry about your luck.
Wow, Cubase seems really good. I hear it is what Kraftwerk is using. I guess I'll try this out when I get the chance. Is there a way to get a trial for this?
There is a easy way to do this, plug a jack from your headphone socket in your keyboard directly into your soundcard... this will record as audio NOT as midi, if you want midi just connect midi cables if your sound card is compatible
Which is a better buy, Studio Case II or Upgrade my LE to studio 4.0? I mainly want to get the best VST package to make guitar backing track from MIDI files.
ok now! but can u record vocals in cubase 4? klaasklapper u can put sound fonts in cubase 4? what!?.. i didnt know that, sick i want it now but maibe u can answer my question?
sure you can record vocals, but you could do that whit the previous cubase versions too, i use cubaseSX3 and you got to have a good soundcard and a good comp. whit enough cpu power and memory ofc but yeah you just plug in and record through audio tracks
You don't need Cubase 4 to get realistic vst instruments that sound like real instruments. Google search on "vst instruments". You can put these virtual instruments in your cubase plugins folder & load them in Cubase as a vst plugin. Read the Help documentation. You can also use Soundfonts and use a free soundfont player like SFZ as a vst plugin in the same manner.

personally I would say Cubase, its easier,
THE plugin for orchestra sound is Miroslav Philharmonik, you really can use that one. (only bad thing is that its 3gb)
If you want to have more electro sound (not the classical instruments in philharmonik) you should try Novation V-station. (just 10 mb)
enjoyy
