This is the first song of his that I ever heard, a few years ago...
I actually got the album this song was on before I knew Benson was in the Raconteurs...I was surprised to hear it, but it's good that he's being appreciated, even if the albums of his that I have were overlooked.

sorry guys, although you may have had experiences outside of Royal Oak, Dont try and say you Grew up in "The D" as if to say that you understand what Detroit is like and can write about life from that point of view. This song should be more appropriately titled life in the "S". But I gues that doesn't have the same ring to it. Get real.
What's your problem?? I'd bet money that you don't even know what the hell you're talking about! These guys have had alot of people's share of shit and with what I know has gone on, Brendan is qualified to sing about whatever the f**k he wants!
why did it take for him to be in the Raconteurs before I even heard of him? What is wrong with record companies? We all see him for the talent that he is, why couldnt they? I guess Brendan will have the "last laugh".
brendan benson writes some of the most beautiful and entertaining songs ever

its a song about how he feels like he's invisible. alot of the songs on the album allude his lack of confidence the time.

Life in the D is in the key of D
Verse - D (w/C# instead of D on B string), G
It's life... E, F#m, Am (w/F#,F,E run on 1st string)
Unseen by... E, F#m, A
Skeptics think.. G,A,D----Em, A (with 6th sting run down g,f#, e)and repeat

k, i can tell he's got the guitar tuned a half step down... but does anyone know the chords he's playing?
i see some variation on D... then G for the first part
then the next part (it's like microscopic size) is, like, E, G5, A...
then the part after that i can't make out... can anyone help with what the rest of the song is?
