Berkeley, CA is about to pass a law requiring all city homeowners to upgrade to SmartGrid Appliances along with other so called "green upgrades" like double pane windows, white reflective roofing, new insulation, etc. These little fascists are ready to fine anyone who doesn't comply (all for the good of the earth of course) nevermind that many residents are on fixed incomes and cannot afford the $35,000 price tag to make the improvements.

Smart meters have been around for at least 20 years here in the United States. The one installed at my summer cottage offers a break on electric rates by voluntarily allowing my power to be turned off remotely if peak draw on the grid is high. Communication is one way to the meter and done through the power line and executed from the local sub station. Maybe the new smart grid is supposed to be two way.
The smart grid is two-way; feeds back usage and is updated with costs... in realtime. Some areas will use WiMax while others will use a peer to peer WiFi based network between the meters to one that is directly connected to the network...

Good post FeverIam I had no idea how bad that SmartGrid Technology was, I've always suspected something fascist behind these 'Green' energy programs. On PrisonBreak they wanted to use Scylla (Free Energy) for solar weapons. The NWO always has an agenda when they push something through.

Global warming is going to kill us all, so give up your rights and money to the government to save us! Global warming is a fraud that takes away money and time from real environmental issues we need to deal with. In 20 years it'll be global cooling and then 40 years global warming until people wise up and the politicians can't use it to steal more money.

stewart0312: The advertised war on terror was a war for oil, although some people still believe the propaganda.. oil is becoming scarce and large corporations want to keep their costs low and consumer purchasing high in order to profit. Check the wikipedia entry of "peak oil" to get the original research from Hubbert and some numbers that somewhat predict the 2008 oil price jump and other upcoming oil bumps that a lot of investors will use to profit from them.

Ha, This is something Nancy Pelosi was talking about like a week ago. Apparently we can't manage our consumption. But somehow my electric bill (and all other bills) are paid on time, so as you can see when I cool my home down here in Texas, I DESPERATLY need the government to help me control my consumption/ spending. They also want to increase the cost, "But American's will use less, so it's better for them" (Paraphrase of Nancy Pelosi)

You wont be able to afford a fridge if the price of oil that is used to manufacture and transfer it to your home goes up 500%. The smart grid is currently the only good government policy but it is sadly countered by people who believe in disastrous things like shutting off a fridge for a few minutes?

In the Netherlands they were also talking about the smart electricity meter. But now it is voluntary (still though), they will plant it in new houses. So be aware of the company Oxxio (probably part ot the NWO). The responsible politican (also NWO) wanted it to be obliged, and not complying to result in a big fine or halve a year imprisonment. She said installation might save a whopping 2 percent was she was not sure about that.
The meter would wiresly transfer usage data every 15 minutes.

There is no way they could ever come clean, the banks have mortgaged every last $ that exists. I know for a FACT that unemployement in Canada is going UP UP UP! I am close to an unemployement office, have been for a couple years, and have never seen the lines that I have seen in the last 6 months,and they grow larger and larger each week! I talk regularly with the people that work there and they are clocking in overtime hours like crazy just to process all the applications...

Smart meters have been around for at least 20 years here in the United States. The one installed at my summer cottage offers a break on electric rates by voluntarily allowing my power to be turned off remotely if peak draw on the grid is high. Communication is one way to the meter and done through the power line and executed from the local sub station. Maybe the new smart grid is supposed to be two way.

The smart grid is two-way; feeds back usage and is updated with costs... in realtime. Some areas will use WiMax while others will use a peer to peer WiFi based network between the meters to one that is directly connected to the network...

The power grid in the U.S. has recieved little maintenance in decades and can barely handle any increase. The smart box might be needed to avoid rolling brown outs increasingly likely as the population grows. Fortunately as we enter the Greater Depression, folks won't be able afford power anyways...
