As the main representative of Newfoundland Danny Williams is doing a terrific job. He has rejuvenated the pride we have in our Province and stands up vigorously for the rights of Newfoundlanders. I for one can understand how he would become frustrated by the pessimism of such as the likes of Randy Simms.

I'm with Randy Simms on this one.... having a revenue base (oil) in the short and medium term is good. However, oil is a non-renewable resource. Fisheries, agriculture, forestry,etc... are renewable resource. If we only put a fraction of that money into rebuilding those sectors, we would have a thriving and diversified economy after the oil is gone

In addition Randy Simms is nothing but a blow hard who has a very inflated opinion of himself.
He seems to think he's an authority on everything which is annoying to those who know the difference.

Wow! I cannot believe that the Premier of your province would get on the public airwaves and be so unprofessional, discourteous, and so rude to a radio talkshow host (whos job is to question, investigate, and cause invigorating discussion)!?!? I'm apalled by this sick behaviour! Thank God I'm from a province where this DOESN'T happen!!!

Danny Williams transformed Newfoundland. He made it go from being a Have Not to a Have province.
How is a politician speaking to the press and passionately argueing his case have any effect on the province and their citizens? I don't understand why you are so glad your premier doesn't communicate and argue against the drivel coming from some idiotic talking head. What is wrong with having a BACKBONE?

Oil is good but it is not a renewable resource. The Premier is losing sight of the issue. All the politicians have been reckless and irresponsible. What the Premier is talking about won't mean a hill of beans when the oil is gone. If they had take care of the fishery we would be secure forever. Get over yourself Mr. Williams!

I'm with Randy Simms on this one.... having a revenue base (oil) in the short and medium term is good. However, oil is a non-renewable resource. Fisheries, agriculture, forestry,etc... are renewable resource. If we only put a fraction of that money into rebuilding those sectors, we would have a thriving and diversified economy after the oil is gone
