This is an amazing film and FTW has done the autism community a great service by making it available on Youtube. The most important thing for everyone to remember is this: please do not ignore the reality that the rise of ASD in our communities is a great concern. And to dismiss the thousands of parents who have seen their children become autistic after being vaccinated is not the way to address this problem. Compassion is the key to any human dilemma.

@DavidS1231 There is no recovery from autism. Autism is the only developmental disorder (CP, DS) where hucksterism flourishes. If people can't visualize the disability, they assume it must be some sort of "ghost" in the child that just needs to be exorcised and you'll have a "normal" child. If your young child becomes typical, they never had autism to begin with.

Firstly 'true autism' is not curable . If you know the biochemistry, neurobiology and brain physiotherapy of 'true autism you know there is no cure. I have worked with Autism for over 40 years and looked at it from every possible aspect.

If it could be 'cured' then my job would not exist and I would be a very happy man indeed.

About three years ago I stopped working full time so I could give my son the intensive interaction and guidance he needed. I didn't know what was wrong with him (I just though he was quirky, but amazing). The next year he was diagnosed with HFA/Asperger's. Today he is the youngest in his class, still struggling with communication, high sensitivities, social skills and object associations, but he makes average to above-average marks. He is steadily improving and I know he will succeed.

Is documentaries like this that is spreading misinformation. Vaccines causing autism has been debunked time and time again. It's all in genetics. Myself and a few of my cousins where born autistic, its in our family.

More about autism is learned everyday, don't make popular opinion and propaganda into the default answer. You do not 'recover' from autism, you 'adapt'. It took me years of leaning to adapt and live a interdependent life. I feel insulted after watching this.

In response to christschool the reason Andrew Wakefield lost his medical licence in the UK is because he dared to challenge the mainstream medical system by speaking the truth about vaccines and in particular the MMR vaccine..If as mainstream medicine states Autism is a genetic defect kids are born with why do these kids develop normally and then regress shortly after certain vaccines are administered..Of course the CDC  "scientists" would never admit they cause autism because of the lawsuits

@christschool You are the one who is very wrong..The slanderous article in question was written by one Brian Deer who put out the hoax that Wakefield was a fraud, paid off people etc..Do you know what a hit piece is?..You havent a clue..My boy got autism immediately post MMR and it is no coincidence..The amish dont vaccinate their children and Autism is nearly non existant..A full scale study by the medical establishment has never been done on this..Why?

@smasherhits Wakefield was found incompetent by a jury of his fellow medical peers and stripped of his license. The Amish do vaccinate and you are relying on "evidence" from a formerly fired UPI writer Dan Olmsted to assert they don't. However, reporters followed up with the county physicians that attend to the Amish in the communities Olmsted wrote about and they did find there were autistic and they also found that the doctors were vaccinating Amish children.

@smasherhits More.....The reporters also found that Olmsted never talked to the doctors serving the Amish. Lastly, you can't study a population that doesn't vaccinate because nearly all do.

Look, I take you at your word of what you think happened to your child. Its difficult to raise autistic children. I have one and he can be hell to raise. We constantly have to fight for them. Its easy to be angry, but you'll have to move on at some point to be effective.

My severly autistic son is almost 16. He is non verbal. He showed signs of autism from birth..sleep disorder. I am not sure about this vaccine hype. If vaccines causes autism, then what about Beethoven, Mozart, Einstein, etc, who were not vaccinated, and are all autistic? Could it be genetics?

My son was a patient of Dr. Bradstreet who told me his son is reading at a fourth grade level and is fourteen. I don't consider that recovered!!!!!!!.

Ryan's story, could easily be our child's story... MMR vaccine, followed by a bad reaction a week later (very high fever, thrush, rash, diarrhea) The ER physician acknowledged and documented that it was in fact a reaction to the MMR vaccine. Approximately one week after recovering from this reaction, the stimming began, and my husband and I were no longer dealing with the same child that we had taken into the ER just one week prior. Thousands of parents can't ALL be wrong about this!

Autistic symptoms can be cured. This is not arguable -it's a FACT. Countless children have been given diagnoses of ASD and then later evaluated by specialists and doctor's and test to show no abnormal symptoms. Some people react better to treatment than others, just like cancer patients and other illnesses- not everyone can be cured but some can. Why dispute that? I believe that the word "autism" is not a name for one specific syndrome- but for specific SYMPTOMS that are cause by different things in each case. To say it's caused by vaccines is simply ignorant, most kids who get vaccines do not develop autism, and plenty of kids who do NOT get vaccines still develop autism. Vaccines may be rejected by the neurological make up of some children, but that is no one's fault. Vaccines are necessary for disease prevention and do more good than harm

However, recovery is possible in some cases. The most success is through a multi-modal approach, since it is so difficult to find the 1 treatment that will work, parents should try whatever is available as soon as possible. Behavior intervention and constant interraction are key, but vitamin supplements and dietary changes can support the process even greater. The truth is some kids will never be recovered either because their condition is so severe or proper treatment hasn't been discovered.

I have to agree. I was diagnosed with autism after a vaccine. Nowadays, thanks to Dr. Singh @ Utah State University, we have an immune test, which I highly recommend to those out there who are deciding whether or not to vaccinate their child.

Why would anyone want to be cured of Autism? I have Autism/spectrum disorder disability and it is a blessing in diguise, I am able to excel in certain areas that most people wouldn't even dream of being good in!

Some of the greatest minds of a mankind were people who suffered from some kind of disability like Abert Einstein.

If it wasn't for us, the world would probably fall into the Dark Ages. We simply see the world in a different light than everyone else.

Clearly you are not so inhibited by autism that you can still function in society and enjoy life. I work with children with autism are constantly in turmoil due to sensory issues, self-injurious behavior, and lack of communication skills. I have children with large, gaping wounds from biting themselves, and I've had one student pass away from banging his head. If these children could have been recovered both they and their parents would have lived better lives for it.

Whatever special abilities/qualities special children have, they would still want to be "normal." Who cares if the "positive" attibutes of autism dissapear. If someone lost their legs and had to use an expensive wheelchare that can't access all locations, you wouldn't be saying, well at least they don't have to walk. Same thing with Autism. How important is it to be able to repair an alarm clock at the age of 6 if you can't go to school?

Watching movies with kids about Autism is different than Having SEVERE form of autism.

They have certainly made PROGRESS, but i think that has more to do with early intervention and the fact that most kids get better at things as they get older. Compare the parents attitudes when they were talking about their children having autism, as if they had been given a death sentence, and then afterwards when they believe that they are curing their kids...

Could it be possible that we are looking at several "types" of autism?? Could there be vaccine-induced autism, true-autism, etc?? Our child was considered normal at his 12 month well-visit. After 1 week we saw serious changes, and he was diagnosed ASD at 13 months old. Now, 25 months, he is making incredible strides at recovery.

Jeff Bradstreet is not a Neuroscientist, he is an OB/GYN. Andrew Wakefield has lost his medical license in the UK. Autistic children deserve ethical medicine, not these quacks. The children in this video still look very autistic to me. Andrew Wakefield is a criminal.

I am sure that in some cases kids are getting better...mine is learning but to talk with him you can tell he is not your average 8 year old,videos like this are giving false hope. Not all kids are getting better and and I am doing my part to help him and while it will never be enough to cure him I as his mother will do anything. Every parent has an obligation to watch this video and others covering this topic. Western medicine has a 'one size fits all' philosophy when it comes to vaccines. Clearly, research and action are needed regarding qualifying children to determine which vaccines they can safely have. If you are a parent, do not give vaccines with thimerosal (flu and others) and split up the MMR. Find a doctor that takes the time to understand the impact of these vaccines and knows how to implement them safely.
