  • id take a jcm 800 any day

  • I have a question, are you able to buy a head amp like this, but not have a regular amp under it?

  • @MHidalgo8 No. You need a cabinet because heads dont have speakers on them. You have to connect them to a cabinet/speaker

  • does marshall still produce these? i looked on gc.com and mf.com and they dont carry these anymore

  • is that the chilean flag?

  • @popstotexas Perdon amigo , Te molesto ?

  • @MrLespaul8 no

  • Can this amp be played at low volume and sound good, or do you have to crank it to get the good sounds?

  • @pedecamp

I think this amp sounds better cranked.

  • @popstotexas - for sure, but what about for quiet practice between the crank sessions? No good? Or maybe with an attenuator

  • @pedecamp Nay, the amp sounds great at a low volume as well but if your looking for something for volumes this is not the amp for you.

  • FYI - The Texas flag (speaker grill) is Upside Down!

  • @FrankSottile That's a big 10-4 good buddy!

  • @fredrikfjell see below

  • Nice tone, what setting do you use?: )

  • Comment removed

  • are deaf yet. Just kidding. Good playing and thanks for demoing this amp

  • can you have 2 4x12 speakers connected to it to make it a full stack? plz reply thanks

  • yes

  • @themrdomw Off course, but than it's called a fool stack :-)

serious: 2 cabs of 16 Ohm (each) ==> DSL on 8 ohm. 2 cab of 8 Ohm, DSL on 4 Ohm.

  • any policeman arround???

  • eh, could be

  • u use any distortion pedal on the dsl video is this amp got that brutal modern high gain it sounded like it to me

  • nope

  • ur awesome!!! thank you

  • thanks bro!

  • viva chile

  • Bro , very nice sound , could you send me the settings for this tone I have a friend who has this amp.

  • P 71/2, T 7, M 61/2, B 4, UG 12oclock - 2 oclock, V your call

  • This or an Orange Rockerverb 50H?

  • this any day

  • Depends on what your going for... If you want a more woofy tight bottom end go with the Orange, if you want more mids go with the marshall

  • Do a search for Fortin modded 800

  • Heimarbeit666, you will be disappointed if you trade for a TSL. TSL's are pretty much the worst sounding tube amp Marshall has ever made. There's a reason that DSL's are sought after and being re-released and the TSL's are not. TSL's sound harsh, fuzzy and brittle. Have your 800 modded by Fortin, Voodoo, or FJA and you'll be happier than you thought you could be! Trust me:)

  • i agree with this.

  • I honestly think the gain sounds a little flubby. I played one the other day and was not impressed.

  • @WesleynGalles

I was actually really impressed with the gain from this demo. But, to each his own!

  • hey what kind of sound do get with the jcam 2000 tsl 100?

Is it a metal amp or is it diverse?

Kinda thinking about trading my jcm800 reissue aginst this baby.

  • the tsl has more than enough gain for metal. and gets really clean too. the dsl has a lot of gain too but has one less gain stage and its cheaper. ive got the dsl and its fine

  • @NotoriousFR

ive got a zakk wylde overdrive and i need this amp to do sort of arch enemy stuff but also stuff like ufo and maiden i know its fine for ufo n maiden cus bdave murray actually uses one but with or w/o a pedal does it have a enough to go that extra stage ??

  • It can be used for alot of types of music. But I have to say that it's best used for metal or hard-rock. But trading a jcm800 for the tsl? I don't know how the jcm 800 reissue sounds like but i would definetly prefer the original jcm 800 over the TSL. And btw, this demo is the DSL, the TSL has more gain and an extra channel.

  • Ok cool thanks...no it's not the original jcm800...it's the reissue doesn't sound a good as the 80's model...

that's rght it's the double lead...i have an offer to trade mine for a tsl...

I'm not going to play metal...rather hardrock and blues...but i'm actually looking for kinda a vintage sound

thanks for the answer and keep posting!

  • If you want to play hardrock or blues, I wouldn't buy the TSL. But I should recommend you the jubilee series of Marshall but they might be to expensive or to rare but they are really worth their money and are really perfect for blues and hardrock!

  • im in love with that sound.

  • cool

  • sweet

  • sweetness

  • You might have just sold me on this amp!

  • great amp - try it out.

  • Hey popstotexas nice sounding head. You said you'd combined your Mesa and Marshall before, how would you set dual heads and have them fit nicely, what sort of contrast between the 2 did you go for?

  • I used the Marshall + 4 x 12 cab for low/mids - then the Roadster + 2 x 12 cab for mids and cleans.

    rock on!

  • i have this exact head for sale! message me!!!

  • nice dude wat are your settings

  • read the other comments

  • damn thats beast wat are your settins for treble bass middle and gain

  • see below

  • Also if I wanted to do metalcore could I do it with this amp?

  • This is DSL 100, sure you can tweak the tone to play just about any kind of music.

    Rock on!

  • you probably need OD pedal to boost the amps gain to do metalcore

  • Is that a dsl 50 or 100?

  • 100

  • Should I trade my mesa boogie dual rectifier in for this and some cash or possible a stomp box? what do you guys think? worth it???

  • depends, what music do you play

  • I play skynyrd, zeppelin, jimi hendrix, ted nugent, acdc stuff so far. I love aerosmith and clapton too. The only modern stuff i have been playing is metallica, which i think the marshall can pull off, nickelback (marshall probably won't) and greenday-which i think they use marshall

  • Marshall works for ANYTHING, especially this bad boy!

  • oh ya definately, mesas are more fore hardcore- death metalish kind of stuff. Definately trade it in for the Marshall, its the classic rock tone. mesas are metallica-esque tonal area

  • I'd say take a look at the Mesa Express 5:50 or 5:25. Not the same kind of distortion as the mark series. But if you want a better marshall sound than marshall then try Mesa Stiletto.

  • serioulsy. dont trade the mes for anything. fuck digital shit

  • Marshall's aren't digital man lol, we are talking about tube Marshalls here.

  • i know that!

i was talking about the guy who wants to like sell his mesa for some digital stuff.

  • Dude, I'll trade you mine for your dual rectifier

  • Thanks for the offer man, i've actually had 3 people with jcm2000 dsl100's make me an offer, head for head and a couple hundred cash, still thinkin about it... I think i'm going to go for a better guitar like a gibson (i have an ibanez, blahh) and save up and amp search. I have another amp to hold me off.

  • I have run my mesa roadster and the Marshall together - freaking awesome sound. Keep your Mesa.

    Rock on!

  • What Tubes are you Using? Mine blew in my DSL looking to buy new ones; Suggestions?

  • This amp has stock tubes.

    Check ebay.

  • EL34's for the british stuff

    6l6 or 6v6 for fender-esque stuff

or 5881's they are a pretty standard marshall tone

  • i have my pre digitech gsp1101, and my power amp with el84. wich kind of sound give me this el84? thx

  • Woow I Want This Amp ! ^^

  • Cool amp!

  • I have a very important question for you that ma-b u culd help me with. What settings do you have your head and cabinet on as far as hook up. I have it plugged 16 ohms going in the 8 ohm input on the cabinet and the selector switch on stereo and I was told that hook up was wrong. It should be 8 ohms from the head going into 4 ohms on the cab with the selector on mono..HELP!!!!

  • 8 ohms to 8 ohms

  • What volume level are you on? I have the same head and an orange quadbox and cant turn it up over 2 at home - the tone is SHIT!

I was thinking of getting a hot plate but everyone i see on You Tube can get tone at low volumes - so what am i doing wrong?

    HELP!

  • you man you might get a better tone if you turn the pre amp volume down and the master up

  • The amp has only 1 Volume control and 1 Gain control but no pre amp and master volume?

(or are they the same thing?)

    Thanks

  • These are the settings i use:

    P 71/2, T 7, M 61/2, B 4, UG 12oclock - 2 oclock, V your call.

  • Go texas!!! Nice tone btw.

  • Yeah! thanks!

  • Killer tone brother! Respect!

  • Thanks!

  • love your lowend rhythm tone, is that a 50 or a 100? If it's a 100, would you say this sound is also doable on a 50 since I am about to get one relatively cheap and they tend to have fewer high gain reserves?

  • Thanks, this is a 100.

  • I have a 50 Too, its doable!

  • Mesa > Marshall

  • yes

  • Thanks but no thanks

  • Got the same amp man, just got one yesterday! Thanks for the amp settings, but also, what guitar do you have, pickups, and tone knob settings please? xD

  • I have a Gibson LP standard - knobs on 10 - stock pu(s).

    Thanks!
