SOLUTION: I have the solution to zimbabwe's land reform. we don't have to kick the white farmer out. instead take the farm from him, split ownership into shares and distribute among the black zimbo. Then we pay the white farmer to run the farm and we receive dividends. If the black shareholders don't like the profit margin you fire the farmer. This works because then you won't have to split the land but work it as a whole farm and have an experienced person running it. get it?

In 1980 6000 white farms produced 90% of marketable maize, 90% of cotton and virtually all tobacco. As white farmers started to leave, the production went down. By 2000 there were only white 4500 farms and now about 200. So, what happened with the production over the same period of time?
The University of Zimbabwe estimates that between 2000 and 2007 agricultural production decreased by 51%. Production of maize, main staple food went down by whopping 90%. Tobacco exports virtually stopped. Reliable crop estimates are not available due to the Zimbabwe government's attempts to hide the realities following the evictions. Zimbabwe is now fully dependant on foreign food aid.

1. Not all land was taken "by force"; huge parcels of land were bought from Lobengula via Liepert. Blacks were removed from the land forcibly only after they rebelled killed 10% of whites and had been defeated - land retributions were commonplace at the time among Africans too.
2. Most of the land that was taken forcibly was undeveloped bush, not farms with buildings, irrigation systems, tools and crops. The value of a functioning farm is times more than sun dried bush.
3. Many of the farms have been bought after 1980. Zimbabwe's government certified these purchases and accepted taxes thus recognising them as legal. Farmers took loans from Zimbabwean banks and have paid them off over many years. How these farms are not theirs now?

This is also untrue. Whites had less land than blacks. In Rhodesia whites had 46% of all lands. Another famous piece of propaganda is to say "but they had best lands". Sure they did. You know why? Not because it was inherently best, but largely because they did not exhaust it like blacks did, on the opposite they improved it: build dams for irrigation, protected it from wind erosion, fertilized and rotated crops.
Compare it with farming practices of blacks: zero irrigation even in a proximity of water, absence of any kind of soil protection. Farming until it turns into sand. Moreover, on uneven ground blacks plough downhill because it is easier. They know that the right way is across the hill, like all white farmers do - it holds rain water and does not allow the streams washing down fertile layer, - but keep doing it easy way. Then they blame whites for having 70% of best lands. Pathetic.
There is amost no white farms left by now. All land in is black hands. So how does it perform? At best the squatted land produces 10% of what it used to. Pure stats: from 2000 to 2007 the number of white farms went from 4500 to 400 - down 93%. Over the same period the production of maize - main staple crop went down by 90%. It means that all land that was stolen from white farmers produces now about 3% of what it used to produce. Only small patches of it are used - complete economic disaster.

Wrong. Zimbabwe's agricultural lands are 33 m hectares. The list of sanctioned individuals is about 200 persons. Even if each of them had 10 huge farms 2000 hectares each, it would amount to 4 m hectares. In reality it is much less, I think not more than 1 m hectares, that is about 3% of Zimbabwe. The remaining 97% are not under sanctions. And even 200 sanctioned thieves can freely trade with anyone outside EU / US.

SOLUTION: I have the solution to zimbabwe's land reform. we don't have to kick the white farmer out. instead take the farm from him, split ownership into shares and distribute among the black zimbo. Then we pay the white farmer to run the farm and we receive dividends. If the black shareholders don't like the profit margin you fire the farmer. In 1980 6000 white farms produced 90% of marketable maize, 90% of cotton and virtually all tobacco. As white farmers started to leave, the production went down. By 2000 there were only white 4500 farms and now about 200. So, what happened with the production over the same period of time?

3. Many of the farms have been bought after 1980. Zimbabwe's government certified these purchases and accepted taxes thus recognising them as legal. Farmers took loans from Zimbabwean banks and have paid them off over many years. How these farms are not theirs now?

This is also untrue. Whites had less land than blacks. In Rhodesia whites had 46% of all lands. Another famous piece of propaganda is to say "but they had best lands". Sure they did. You know why? Not because it was inherently best, but largely because they did not exhaust it like blacks did, on the opposite they improved it: build dams for irrigation, protected it from wind erosion, fertilized and rotated crops.

Compare it with farming practices of blacks: zero irrigation even in a proximity of water, absence of any kind of soil protection. Farming until it turns into sand. Moreover, on uneven ground blacks plough downhill because it is easier. They know that the right way is across the hill, like all white farmers do - it holds rain water and does not allow the streams washing down fertile layer, - but keep doing it easy way. Then they blame whites for having 70% of best lands. Pathetic.

There is amost no white farms left by now. All land in is black hands. So how does it perform? At best the squatted land produces 10% of what it used to. Pure stats: from 2000 to 2007 the number of white farms went from 4500 to 400 - down 93%. Over the same period the production of maize - main staple crop went down by 90%. It means that all land that was stolen from white farmers produces now about 3% of what it used to produce. Only small patches of it are used - complete economic disaster.

Wrong. Zimbabwe's agricultural lands are 33 m hectares. The list of sanctioned individuals is about 200 persons. Even if each of them had 10 huge farms 2000 hectares each, it would amount to 4 m hectares. In reality it is much less, I think not more than 1 m hectares, that is about 3% of Zimbabwe. The remaining 97% are not under sanctions. And even 200 sanctioned thieves can freely trade with anyone outside EU / US.
