nothing beats playing this game when it came out.. I got this feeling of depression now on days and dead space 2 is just plain boring compared to my experience with dead space 1 back then. it's like sequels to good games nowadays are bad or boring and I keep worshipping everything bethesda makes because they make the best games now. there was once a time capcom made all the best games and konami or nintendo. now they all seem to make pretty boring or shitty games.

@PianoXfan1 Well dude,I never get scared either,have been a horror film buff and avid horror/Sci Fi gamer for a VERY long time,{all the way back to the first "RE"}..but Honestly~"Dead Space" is the exception,this game gives me the Creeps,and I have to take short breaks every 20 Min's because my skin is crawling so bad,I always feel that I am being watched,and keep looking behind me,just knowing there is some god awful abomination lurking in the shadows,ready to feast on my head;) 9.5/10,Stellar!

@PianoXfan1 ~I get what you are saying man,you just have to use your Imagination a bit more perhaps,and try to Imagine just how totally F'd up it would be,..to be in "Issac's" situation you know?..it really helps if you have no distractions,for instance when I am playing this title with friends hanging out in my room,it seems to lose it's Creep factor a lot,you have to "Set the mood" my friend, turn yer phone off,turn the lights off,and turn the sound up,..become "Issac" ...hehe;)
dead space wouldnt have been as good if it was first person. you wouldnt have connected with the fear of the character as much. he would have been a floating gun. instead of a person that limps when he is hurt breathes heavily when he is scared and looks around when he is nervous.
@kirielvids I totally agree. I think it would be written off as another FPS if it was first person and I also think it wouldn't be as scary. I find third person to be a little more disorientating and harder to control, I think they really lend themselves to the horror genre and cinematic genre in general like uncharted. uncharted would not be better if it was FPS and neither would dead space. I think it's an important way to seperate it from the rest of the games in this generation

It's a fun game, for sure. But what makes it not scary for me is because of how frequent the monsters appear. What makes a horror movie good is a mysterious monster, like say "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" good for me. But hey, just my opinion. Succeeds as a game, but not in the survival horror genre.

@Maxi3242 LOL you know what's funny about that, EA did focus groups for dead space 2, the groups were only mothers and older women LOL they ended up using all the footage of the moms getting outraged and screaming after seeing the game as advertisement. I believe the slogan at the end of the commercial was, "buy dead spave 2, because your mom will hate it". I've played it and really it's not bad for a kid to play unless they get bad nightmares. Pick it up when you can, it's a great game

I hate added availability of first person view to third person games. It always sticks of low budget and the overall feel that it has been added with no optimization and design just as an extra to please idiots who doesn't know how awesome a good TPS game is. Seeing the player character just so livens up the whole game, there's definately more TPS games i liked so far than FPS.
@itsnx13 I have a solution, buy Amnesia: the dark descent for 5 hours straight. After that, you'll go back to this game easily and say that it isn't scary at all. (I wouldn't advise this, as 5 hours of amnesia could kill someone mentally)
God, I hate that guy. I played Dead Space and completed its story mode once, but I still hate that Necromorph who just won't die until I fried it with engine flames! Oh yeah!!

Dead Space 3 will probably will be Take place in Jupiter if not I am going to suit them immediately and the story will be the same as in second installment except now is a huge large station connecting one to another.
My girlfriend pointed this game out to me at a shop and and first I was a bit reluctant to buy it as I thought it was going to be yet another FPS, mindlessly kill eveverything game that has been (in my opinion) over done to death on these next gen consoles.
As soon as I started playing I was relieved that my preconceptions were totally wrong! This game is awesome, I love the atmoshphere, the story, the monsters, everything! Best £8 I've spent on a game that's for sure!
I rented this and played for a couple of hours and didn't like it at all. Probably because it's another 3rd person horror game where your character walks backward slower than a turtle as giant mutants run at him. They could have made it first person and still put the little health meters on his arms or hands or just a traditional HUD. That would have made it a whole lot more playable.
@xxjohnnyxx89 I've played a couple traditional survival horror games, RE4, SH2; But they didnt really scare me, they were just boring and frustrating. Best survival horror games I've played are Condemned 1 & 2, and they're first person. First person is way scarier and more intense than third person. It's more immersive and natural, it feels more like you're actually there. There are also a lot of scary parts in Bioshock. Heck, even Crysis has more intense scare moments than Dead Space or RE.
@gearsofwar404 The answer is simple........ get both, duh. I'm currently playing DS1(took me 2 weeks to find, bought last one in KY on Tuesday this week) which is scary as hell, which means its very good. I jump at the right times, which means that even after the real scare at the intro, it still brings the horror and suspense throughout the whole game. I'm currently at chapter 8??-ish and i have the plasma cutter, pulse rifle, force gun, and ripper. Not finished yet, but i already give it a 10

Im super late on playing dead space... But I bought it for 6 bucks last week...
I really am enjoying it but so many people say its an actual scary game.
Well I never got scared of a movie or a game and people said that as well but this actually scared them... Not me...
I got to the end of chapter 3 and called it quits for a few days... How do I play this and feel scared?

God, I hate that guy. I played Dead Space and completed its story mode once, but I still hate that Necromorph who just won't die until I fried it with engine flames! Oh yeah!!

i like this game but for some reason i find this game kind of boring!
i'm not sure it's because i'm so use to the first person view but for whatever reason i get bored in the first 10 minutes. and i loved games like bioshock,Doom 3, Resident evil,etc

Ah dead space is awsome when it comes to action but when it comes to scaryness (dunno if thats even a word) and atmosphere it doesn't come close to amnesia dark decent...that game scared the living shit outta me

@Tamashi232 DS2 felt more like an action game than a scary ass game. it was scary, but i think DS 1 had a much scarier atmosphere. it's really up to the person, as each of us get scared by different things.

you thought dead space was scary? I have played both and they are great game's but they are not scary. amnesia the dark decent is scary (and fear 1 and doom 3 were scary, I don't find them scary anymore)

My girlfriend pointed this game out to me at a shop and and first I was a bit reluctant to buy it as I thought it was going to be yet another FPS, mindlessly kill eveverything game that has been (in my opinion) over done to death on these next gen consoles.
As soon as I started playing I was relieved that my preconceptions were totally wrong! This game is awesome, I love the atmoshphere, the story, the monsters, everything! Best £8 I've spent on a game that's for sure!

I rented this and played for a couple of hours and didn't like it at all. Probably because it's another 3rd person horror game where your character walks backward slower than a turtle as giant mutants run at him. They could have made it first person and still put the little health meters on his arms or hands or just a traditional HUD. That would have made it a whole lot more playable.

@xxjohnnyxx89 I've played a couple traditional survival horror games, RE4, SH2; But they didnt really scare me, they were just boring and frustrating. Best survival horror games I've played are Condemned 1 & 2, and they're first person. First person is way scarier and more intense than third person. It's more immersive and natural, it feels more like you're actually there. There are also a lot of scary parts in Bioshock. Heck, even Crysis has more intense scare moments than Dead Space or RE.

I'm currently playing DS1(took me 2 weeks to find, bought last one in KY on Tuesday this week) which is scary as hell, which means its very good. I jump at the right times, which means that even after the real scare at the intro, it still brings the horror and suspense throughout the whole game. I'm currently at chapter 8??-ish and i have the plasma cutter, pulse rifle, force gun, and ripper. Not finished yet, but i already give it a 10
