Queen playing at Live Aid and rocking everyone's socks off at the same time is, for me, proof that God exsists (because this is a class act on how to rock).
Bit of random skat at the start there ;) Brian May should have suddenly pulled out a sax and turned it into a freeforming jazz odyssey XD Awesome song
@CrimsonPhantasms: Hmm...er, a hammering of a different sort was probably involved. :-p LOL. Just be glad it's Queen. My Mom? She went gaga over (gag!) Tom Jones.
There are 12 dislikes on that song. That means, of course, that there are 12 foolish deaf homophobes. Because those are the only people who could dislike a Freddy Mercury live performance.
No outrageous costumes or light shows...just an amazing band cranking it out bare bones. And Freddie...have you ever seen a man more comfortable and in command in front of a world audience? This is how choose to remember him.
Please watch over Freddie, comfort him, keep him forever, on your stage. Thank you for sharing your gifts with him for us to enjoy. And thank you for using him to teach us not to hate. Amen
wow, someone see that Freddie is in his element right there in front of this humongous crowd he is also enjoying it!!! i mean nowadays the musicians play a concert and its totally stressing and uncomfortable when its through they look like they are revealed, but someone can see that he is really enjoying it, i think that's why the crowd are at his beck and call!!!! i love him.
I remember the pure energy of Queen from my youth and pity today's kids who buy garbage like Justin Bieber records, no wonder we've got a generation of vacuous kids....
I really envy you guys who got the chance to see Queen live... I would give all the concerts I've been to so far and all the concerts I'll go to just to see Freddie singing live.
@Woo5ter yeah that kindda means he is dead tho. hope there is some place where all these dead guys are rippin it up. that would make dying less sucky!!
I will comment on another queen video! amazing, spectacular, what else is there to say! Freddie was a one of a kind, and the rest of the band was great. RIP Freddie from Indiana.
Farrokh Bulsara... perfect voice, classically trained on the piano, songwriter, designed Queens logo..collector of Japanese art..Beautiful,shy sweet and yes ..sexy... part of something so perfect. Brian May Guitar Master Brilliant song writter, Roger Taylor great on drums and that falsetto John Deacon wrote some of Queen's most memorible songs and amazing bass player.. I miss your presence Freddie Mercury..I admire how you lived...and died on your termsGlad I got to see Queen LIVE
This song is unreal. My favourite Queen song and my absolute favourite live performance. Freddie is just put of this world amazing. His voice was just awesome and his stage presence was something that other performers just dont have!
One of the most amazing live performance ever done.
Nowdays nobody could even dream to give similiar show... not to mention many "pop-shit-stars" sings on live like total retards.. this guy could sing the shit live the same way he recorded a studio versions of the songs... FM FOREVER!!!!

@mercuryforeva I most certainly agree... however many American fans didn't see it that way - and as a result of the video, their fanbase in America - especially mid-Western America and among less tolerant Americans - decreased dramatically - they never toured here again. Nonetheless, great band, amazing song writing, stellar musicianship.
@hazedood I know that alot of americans didn't really understand that I want to break free was spoofing the well known english TV soap Coronation Street, and in essence didn't get the humour being portrayed, which I think in later years, they certainly did (well now anyway). They were massive in the 70's and were great with the multi plat "another one bites the dust" in america. Shame some americans didnt take to the song, they shouldnt of just gone off one video! yes Queen were AMAZING. :)
@hazedood What they lost in America in that sense, they were big gainers elsewhere for example Rio and across Europe. I would say though that I would like to say that not all americans were ignorant to Queens excellence and didn't just sign off their music due to I Want to break free. Hence why I believe they were always popular and still remain so strongly today with alot of their music involved in musical TV in america today! aswell as Europe.
@mercuryforeva I definitely agree with your take - I only regret their declining popularity in America because they stopped touring here before I could see them live!!! I've seen numerous videos (and watch rapt during Live Aid)... ahh... what I missed!
@hazedood You should watch the better quality Queen at live aid vids :) haha and the live at wembley 1986 concert which is my personal fave :) Ohh how I wish I would of seen them live! unfortunately I wasn't born! as their last ever tour was in 1986 with the kind of magic tour which set new world records with touring in Great Britain. I find them the most amazing live act, and in fact the live aid performance aswell as other live performances was what sealed Queen as my fave band :)
did you notice? at the end of Hammer To Fall, Roger does anything but the thing Fred told him to do. So, Rog goes one more round and Freddie finished it before! Look at the faces of Brian and John. They seem to say WHAT THE FUCK DID HAPPEN??? even the better live show on earth has a failure haha

@tjrtherocksponge I remember the Zep reunion, I can't remember Sabbath being there to be honest. What I meant was, The Jagger/Turner duet was the press' "snapshot" of the whole show. That's what made it to all the magazine covers like Rolling Stone,People, Time and so on. I remember in the months after the show, that clip being played constantly on MTV. I don't remember seeing Queen's set again untill the DVD came out. I rewatched the J/T clip again on Youtube, and still think it's overrated
It's a shame Mick Jagger and Tina Turner got all the media attention at this show. It's quite obviouse Queen OWNED Live Aid. I'm not even really a big Queen fan. My favorite band, The Who, fell flat on their face. So out of practice, they should have stayed home.
@ruffles272 Well, this video was Live Aid in 1985 and he was diagnosed with AIDS in 1987. Perhaps he already had AIDS before that but didn't know. We will never know.
Legend has it that Geldof was having problems with getting the order of bands to play as there were so many big egos (we won't play before those guys, etc) and Queen basically came in and said "we'll play whenever you want" and blew the doors off the crowd at 6:30 in the afternoon. How would you have liked to have been the act to follow these guys? I think it was Sade, and whatever happened to her?
@gearguitarguy After Queen's performance here, in order of appearance, was David Bowie, then The Who, then Elton John, and then the finale which was 1) Freddie and Brian singing "Is This The World We Created?", 2) Paul McCartney – "Let It Be", and lastly 3) Band Aid (led by Bob Geldof) – "Do They Know It's Christmas?" I think you're right though ... It's kind of hard to follow Queen's act after they performed.
@solarDeviant Bad luck of the draw for David Bowie. I just remembered Sade being next on the television broadcast. I've seen both Queen and Bowie live in concert, and while Bowie does put on a good show, he's no Freddie Mercury.
@solarDeviant It's known that during Queen's performance David Bowie was standing in the coulisses with the shit running down his legs saying: Oh my God, I never can get over that!!!
Operatic scat at a rock concert. Only one human in the world would have pulled this off. this freaky Farsi is a fucking phenomenon! Good God was Freddie a force of nature! Having Brian may and Queen backing you up doesn't exactly hurt either. :-)
This is just insane! I have always liked Queen, but they have never been my favorite band! But i can honestly say that i have never seen a performance as good as this! I have watched it several times a day for two weeks now. I can't have enough of this! :)
Man, this guy could sing. Queen was a great band, all the guys are very talented, but Mercury was in a league of his own. The bit from 2:16 to 2:29 is magical. I remember watching this when I was a kid - I wasn't very much into Queen, but the guy won me over immediately.
Brian May claims this song is about the Grim Reaper doing his job (his words), and being aware of death (and its inevitability) as a part of life. I say: Screw death! Our bodies will die, but we won't! Good song, too.
2 things are responsible for the decline of GOOD music... The fall of Communism, and The death of His Royal Highness Freddie, king of Mercury... both occurred in 1991 and after that good music started to die...
To think of how sick he was when he performed that day. And he and Queen still stole the show. I would have killed 20 people to be able to see him perform live.
Queen playing at Live Aid and rocking everyone's socks off at the same time is, for me, proof that God exsists (because this is a class act on how to rock).

@YaraGChiara And don't you forget it. But seeing clips of them at Wembly had a similar effect on me.

When I watched Live Aid, I went for a shit when Queen came on. It was a fine shit, glad I never missed anything decent.
