  • Definitely like Panic at the Disco's version of this the best.

  • @Justridiculouslyodd I beg to differ, the best version was the original by The Band.

  • It's not supposed to match the original, there will never be a group like The Band again, covers are supposed to be different and distinct from the original, Weezer nails it, in my opinion (of course).

  • I dont care how bad they covered this song, if they nailed Crazy Chester they nailed the whole song in my opinion.

They did not nail Crazy Chester, in my opinion.

  • I love the Band, but this is really good too, in a differant way though.

  • I love Rivers' voice when he breaks into it.

  • panic at the disco's cover was even better

  • Sweet cover.

  • baw baw baw 'its suuuuuuu badddddd!'

pfffft, naysayers... I think Weezer covers this wonderfully!

  • baw baw baw 'its suuuuuuu badddddd!'

pfffft, naysayers... I think Weezer covers this wonderfully!

  • Disgrace to the original.

  • Disgrace to the original.

  • Um. No. This does not do the song justice.

  • This is very well done.

  • just shit my pants...this was awesome

  • wow when i saw that weezer covered this i was like noooooo there gonna ruin it but damn they shut me up within the first 30 seconds great cover guys

  • Has no one ever heard the Jay Nash, Matt Duke, and Tony Lucca version???

  • I loved it for one.

  • Props for trying?

  • i like conan o'briens version. ::shrug::

  • I touched crazy Jester!

  • jesus most people are saying ya its ok or its pretty good am i the only one who this this is the best cover of this song

  • 1.Panic at the Disco 2.the band(I love the band but brendon's voice just makes their (panic's) cover so awesome) 3. Weezer (love weezer too :D)

  • @volleyballqu33n

His voice doesn't fit the song at all. Why would you place panic at the disco in front of the band

  • @nukegunrack His voice doesn't fit, but I think it adds something else. It's brand new, not in a bad way.

Obviously the original is my favourite, though.

  • @nukegunrack what are u talkin about

  • i love it when scott sings, so much difference in his voice compared to rivers; it adds variety which i love about this band

  • This is a good cover. Weezer really put their sound into the song. Especially with the distortion in the chorus lol

  • I like the part where rivers sings best

  • i like panic at the discos version better. but this was still good.

  • i like rivers voice here. it fits the song.

  • @helmet959 It's Scott singing.

  • @PaperfaceMusic ha no kidding? well i always thought they sounded pretty similar...

  • i like the distortion in the background

  • not too bad

  • Thanks for posting this great old classic. The sheet music for the piano part for The Band's "The Weight" - which was played by Garth Hudson - can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.

  • @HexProductions something's wrong with that puny brain of yours

  • @HexProductions Only a Weezer fan would think that

  • Love Weezer Love This Song Love The Band But This Is no good

  • This is a disgrace

  • I think THE BAND would approve :)

  • That electric guitar in the chorus is awful.. this doesn't even come close to matching the way THE BAND did it. But it's an ok cover none the less.

  • man i wanna smoke one and watch the last waltz right now.

  • @benzelwatchington OH mai gawd!

  • Weezer is stupid!

  • I love THE BAND, BUT this is a really good cover, and i usually hate covers

  • FAIL !

  • Why in the name of all that is holy does this exist?!!?

It's not TOO bad, but...but.....but......THE BAND'S SONG WAS NOT TO BE TAMPERED WITH.

  • Could have done without the electric guitar. Egh.

  • check out the old crow medicine show version

  • Of course it doesn't feel like the original. nothing ever does. But this is an awesome cover. Gotta admit it's really well done. Just with the distorted guitar sounded a little less... "obnoxious"

  • I dont like panic at the disco very much but they actually did a good cover of this song.

  • Weezer has a way of pulling you into their songs. Once again they knock one out of the park by doing a great rendition of the Band's "The weight". I think The Band would be pleased with this cover.

  • Oh wow! I had no idea Weezer did a cover of this song, sounds great! Of course, most of us prefer the original!

  • This is way better than Panic at the disco's version. It's much more humble, the Panic at the disco's version is just too much, this version is almost like the original.

  • This is really good. The Band is awesome, but give it up for Weezer!

  • great rendition, weezer 4 eva

  • it is great! but no one can ever top the band.

  • pretty good (y)

  • i think the order goes 1. The band (of course) 2. Brian Fallon 3. Weezer 4. Panic at the Disco

  • @ccaggd1 u know what i think Panic might b better than this 1

  • I like Panic at the Disco's version.

  • good cover *flails arms wildly*

  • this is a brill version

  • Good job Weezer. Nobody can beat the band on this but I love your version.

  • It's good to see the respect and done in a fine way.

  • luv this version!!!

  • weezer is not bad ass, thats like calling tom cruise bad ass

  • @Theragon518 tom cruise is amazing so isnt weezer

  • the last waltz version is the best..it will never be topped

  • needs piano

  • nice cover

  • Good job on it for a cover. I kinda like it.

  • I LOVE THE BAND!!!!!! AND WEEZER BOTH GREAT BANDS

  • I like how they stayed true to the original. It's very good, you can't deny that.

  • Bad Ass. Weezer Is My Idol!

  • @OpakeArawra2 : That may be your opinion, but I don't really care what you think as it seems you only comment on videos to have arguments. But if you had either common sense or if you appreciate music on any sort of level, then you would see that what Panic! have accomplished at such a young age is phenomenal. Btw I'm sorry I had to clogg this page up with part of an argument to anyone else using youtube just to listen to music and not write abuse to a load of strangers!

  • this is such a stupid cover.

  • Not bad

  • sorry weezer but this will never be better then the original

  • holy shit this sucks

  • @OpakeArawra2 although the original is better, at least they tried to play a classic, I don't see any of today's bands attempting classic rock

  • @computerfanboy really? do you have your eyes fucking sewn shut? do your ears work? fuck off.

  • @OpakeArawra2 not trying to fight oh well

  • @computerfanboy sorry, i was drunk and annoyed at how ignorant what you said was.

  • @OpakeArawra2 You sound like a cunt.

  • @nofatlip nigga fuck you

  • @OpakeArawra2 QQ more bitch.

  • Panic! At the Disco's version is much better and they differ it everytime they play it. This version is very middle of the road, trying to be rock. I highly recommend Panic!'s version at Abbey Road, and the Aol session.

  • @ElynStephens panic at the disco fucking sucks shit though

  • Panic! At the disco's cover of this is amazing!

No offence but this is just borderline horrible.

  • love weezer,bt this song is one of the hardest to cover due to how unique and timeless it is.

  • wow. when i saw the title, i thought this would suck. but after giving it a listen, its actually very good. original owns though.

  • This song belongs to a very exclusive group of songs that simply CANNOT be covered.

  • @McKegger420 Nah, I believe this is a song everyone should cover. In my opinion, this is a very experimental song. A lot can be done to it, and it'll still sound good.

  • This is very different then Panic!'s and The bands. Nice though.

  • hahaha. i love the band, their song is the best. weezer did a good job covering this song though, they didn't ruin it.

  • Pretty nice, but too...clean? Weezer is fun, though. And they plainly get it. They just are too wholesome in their sound for The Band's tunes. Nice use of distortion, though.

  • Surprisingly I was quite pleased with this cover, obviously it's not as good as The Band's version. However this is modern rock and if The Band was transported 30-40 years into the future maybe this is what they would have sounded like? This needs the harmonies though...

  • very nice cover of one of the best songs in the world

  • lmao The truth hurts.

  • Sorry, but it's not good, I like what they did, just not how they did it...

Sorry I don't like the style they did...

  • 1990DaveD

"we are all on drugs" is not earlier weezer, it was released on the same album as "Beverly Hills" and "perfect situation"

If you actually wanted to listen to earlier weezer then "say it aint so", "the sweater song", and "buddy holly" are good starts

  • @StuckInProgress throw in some pink triangle and island in the sun.

  • shut the hell up.

  • @lesbiancandyland2008 shut up you fucking monstrosity!

  • Impressive

  • awesome.

  • surprisingly close to the original, i like it

  • i like how the distortion sounds in this along with the acoustic guitar......

  • Weezer did a noble effort. It's good, but nothing can top the original. Esp. The Last Waltz rendition.

  • The Last Waltz version is definitely my favorite.

  • @sonicice

I love The Band but with the Staple Singers its simply amazing!

  • @sonicice I like the album version by The Band

  • @MetalSpice Take a listen to the Travis version.

  • @MetalSpice totally...nothing beats Levon Helms vocals on this classic

  • The band Travis did a pretty good cover of this song too. nothing will beat the last waltz tho

  • @MetalSpice fuck the original, last waltz is the shit

  • not too keen on weezer, but this is a great cover of a classic song.. maybe need to give tweezer a 2nd look..

  • really? im a weezer fan but i like The Bands version alot better.

  • how can you be not to keen on weezer? one of the best bands of the time right now. Definitely think you need to give them a second look.

  • @hollowbodyguitar check out earlier weezer, stuff like "say it aint so" and "we are all on drugs". Its a lot better than their later stuff when they turned all poppy and not too great imo.

  • one of the best covers i've heard in quite a while.

  • Nice interpretation by the young guns of one of the greatest songs ever by one of the most talented bands ever.

  • You gotta love Scott and Rivers sharing vocals on this one

  • great remake!

  • Sorry to spoil the surprise but this song is played at the end of that guitar movie, "IT MIGHT GET LOUD," by Jack White, the Edge and Jimmie Page.

=W= must have had fun playing this great song.

  • Just watched that movie last night, A great movie.

  • weezer rules

  • Amazingly Good. Do not like most of weezer's music but The Weight being one of my favorite songs must say i am impressed.

  • OMFG YEAH THE BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is amazing, I LOVE this song! I am so amazed that Weezer would cover this.

  • forget the uk!!!!

  • and

    and

    and

you put the load right on me

    MERRY XMAS!!!

  • it's a good cover, but it doesn't have the same feel as the band's original. Still good to listen to. Peace out!

  • i love the cowboy-ish feel in this song haha

  • UMM codeouch...This is not a bad cover at all actually its really good..

  • @whtsavai opinions are opinions are opinions.

  • so had anyone here heard/have the NEW weezer cd? i liked the one that has this song, but not as much as their other albums. so i was wondering...is the new one any good?

  • its...ok. there is some respectable songs on there, and there is some uber crappy ones.

if i was you i'd check out the blue album and make believe

  • that's about what i figured. i've only been listening to weezer since about "the green album," but respectfully got pinkerton and the blue album too. (which i think i actually like better than any of the newer ones). i might have to listen to some more of make believe actually...it seemed good, but i never really re-listened to it...my cd collection is so big i guess i miss some sometimes.

  • it's not that good. theres a couple of good songs but the majority of the album isnt that great.

  • thats a shame, but not really a surprise i guess. it seems like they put the most effort into only a few songs and leave the rest as filler/"decent" songs. but at least overall they've made their share of cool and good songs.

  • i mean its okay i mean some songs are great but i dont like most, but i mean it could just be me though :)

  • seems to be getting that way with each album they put out. but then again i love metallica (and even st. anger...unlike some "fans" i am a fan of the BAND and respect their right to progress an change), so i will probly buy it at some point. i just wasn't sure how good of an album it would be, so your input definitely helps. =) thanks!

  • no problem :)

  • Solid cover, good job guys.

  • Though they aren't Levon, Rick, and Richard, I think this cover is a good version compared to others I've heard. And in this day and age, I think it still can sound attractive to a young generation while still being respectful to the classic version.

oh and btw, if you want to see a good version of this song, check out a clip of it from the last waltz.

  • Oh crap, you're right snaxlrod - Rivers doesn't sing lead until the "Crazy Chester..." verse. I didn't realize Scott had such a good voice...I've sort of fallen off on Weezer for a few years.

  • respect for your elders...

  • Rivers does a great job singing this...his voice is a little rougher than usual - sounds good.

  • this isnt rivers singing, im pretty sure it's scott

  • you've gotta be shitting me. i can't believe this

  • although weezer definitely did the song justice i still think panic has the better cover because the vocals are a lot more intricate than weezer's.

  • i agree with you. xBeowulf Oh btw my old guitar's name is beowulf like u haha lol

  • OMG i don't care what you guys think i love The Band and they did a great job this song kicks ass

  • Never been a huge fan of this song....they drag out the chorus too much towards the end.

  • are you kidding!?!?!?! BOOOOOOOOO ! ! !

  • I'm not a huge fan of Weezer, but, in my opinion, they did a great job on this.

Paying a lot of respect to the original while adding their own flavor to it.

Still, love the original version the best.

  • artdrtr is an lDlOT.

  • i like the original the best, but i defenitly can respect this cover its pretty good, and the panic one is a good cover too as much as i dislike them i think u should give credit where credit is due

  • samtrap99

u r right nothing beats the original....i'm not gonna return back to listeen this version but ...for the band's version...anytime....

  • This is nice, I like it. But I do believe the Panic version is better.........so SHABLAM YA'LL!!! Let's dance.

  • you think the Panic version is better? Panic and this version suck. try listening to the original by The Band. nothing beats the original.

  • I love the original....but Panic's version is my favorite. I think they have a better singer. But thanks for the asshole remark....I mean opinion.

  • my apologies if it sounded like an asshole remark... i get a little upset when people ignore great music

  • Understandable.

    Truce?

  • puedes sentirese senor krabs?

  • then there is something wrong with you

  • It's incredible the bunch of morons coming here and saying the Panic version is better. If you prefer it, go listen to it and stop bothering us
