I just read in the book Big Bang, by Simon Singh, that Ernest Rutherford, the well-known physicist, would often sing this hymn at the top of his voice. They had to put up a sign that read "Talk Softly Please" to remind him not to sing so loudly because it disturbed the lab's sensitive equipment.
