In my opinion, pro speaking. the vocals werent executed properly. especially the back up vocals. need reverb on the prechorus. it lacked alot but nothing that cannot be improved. Drum's were sloppy in the beginning but gradually it gained momentum.. The guitars sounded dry. it needed more reverb and the guitar solo did not scream. solo is always louder than all but the drummer. and last... the synth makes it feel like home. there was no synth... could be because you have no key player.

Lead singer was good, backup guitar was good. Guitar solo...well as much as I support other musicians, it was pretty bad, the timing, the note selection, the feel.

It's not "own interpretation" of it (I don't care about that). Own interpretation would still require at least some nicer sounding. And btw: it's not THAT difficult to play it, just needs practice

He IS playing in time...use a metronome if you can't figure that out, and it's a cover so it's good that he's using creative license and not playing it exactly like the recording. First off, you should identify this as a cover in the title, since I''m certain I'm not the only one who was expecting to see and hear Porcupine Tree.
Secondly, if you're going to cover a song by a band with a fan base like Porcupine Tree's, PLEASE learn the correct lyrics and tune to the song. To do otherwise is disrespectful.
That said, you guys do show some promise, so keep working at it. You do need to work on your harmonies.
I actually have a Porcupine Tour Shirt that Says "PT '07." So if the band thinks it is good to shorten it to that should the fans also be able to refer to them as "PT." Most of the fans I have met call them PT when typing, So if you don't I guess you aren't really a fan since even the band refers to themselves as this.

Mais pour le fun revisionné le solo que fait S. Wilson sur le dvd live arriving somewhere, il prend de sacrées libertés.
JayFlamby, je sais pour le solo maisil est relativement difficile, non pas du point de vue technique mais plus du côté rythmique d'où ce côté "robotique et sans vie".
Pas mal cette reprise ! Le chanteur a une bonne voix.
J'aurais juste deux reproches à faire : ce même chanteur a un accent français trop prononcé et on grince un peu des dents à l'écoute de certaines prononciations (je n'entend effectivement pas "one of the wonders of the world" sur le refrain!) et le solo de guitare sonne un peu robotique et manque un peu de vie... Cela dit l'ambiance d'origine est bien retranscrite malgré tout, et rien pour ça, bravo !

Things to work on: Harmonization was not good(the parts are a low end melody, a high end melody, and a middle line that sings the same note the entire chorus) and the original solo was off.
Things that were awesome: The extended version with that improv solo(which was absolutely amazing) was great. That is the true definition of covering music - trying to display the original band's sound while fusing your own into it. Very nice!

Why are people complaining that much? I think that if you cover a song you always need to do kind of an own interpretation. Note-by-Note is boring.
I find the singer very decent, Steve is not even that of a great singer himself it just fits the music, more or less, but is far from being special.
The background vocals are complete crap, but I like the rest of this performance.

I watched one of your videos, it is that it is easier to play in front of a camera, though quiet in his room and again until you get something not too bad ... Them they have the balls to take difficult songs and playing on stage ... And the solo is not far from the original despite the small problems of implementation. if you actually played guitar, or had listened to the song before then you would realise the guitar solo wasn't to far off the original. i would probably agree with you on the vocals though... i didnt think it was to bad on the whole, hard song to pull off well

Well all of you that have critisisem (excuse my english i am dutch, ignorant and i have one red wine to much;)) To cover a song like this is HARD. i must give respect to this band and if somebody could give me the bands name i would be very interrested in hearing there own songs.

I only visited this clip on YouTube because I thought it was going to be the real PORCUPINE TREE performing their classic 'The Sound of Muzak'.
It's disappointing that the actual video doesn't represent Porcupine Tree and the song well.
Please rename the title to stop further confusion.

Your definetly deaf. The timing is all wrong and it's just plain nasty.
I don't make a habit of slagging off bands but sorry the drumming was horrible.

I still don't understand what's wrong. What part of the "timing" is off? He IS playing in time...use a metronome if you can't figure that out, and it's a cover so it's good that he's using creative license and not playing it exactly like the recording. Music isn't about perfection... it's about the feel, and the musicians in this video were putting their heart in it, and the audience enjoyed it, so I don't see the problem.

Play it faster. To the lead guitarist on the first solo make up your mind. Improv or original. Your improv solo was much better than your attempt to play the original.
Rehearse this more and you could have a viable cover. Just paly it faster, focus what you want to do exactly, and sing the right f******** lyrics

First off, you should identify this as a cover in the title, since I''m certain I'm not the only one who was expecting to see and hear Porcupine Tree.
Secondly, if you're going to cover a song by a band with a fan base like Porcupine Tree's, PLEASE learn the correct lyrics and tune to the song. To do otherwise is disrespectful.
That said, you guys do show some promise, so keep working at it. You do need to work on your harmonies.

I actually have a Porcupine Tour Shirt that Says "PT '07." So if the band thinks it is good to shorten it to that should the fans also be able to refer to them as "PT." Most of the fans I have met call them PT when typing, So if you don't I guess you aren't really a fan since even the band refers to themselves as this.

Bien sûr que ce solo est compliqué ! Mine de rien, Steven Wilson a un feeling terrible.
En fait c'est bizarre mais j'ai l'impression que le guitariste (je ne sais pas si c'est toi Gatheo93) ne maîtrise pas très bien le solo. Celui qui est à la fin passe bien mieux je trouve, je me suis dit d'un coup "mais il est pas si mal que ça ce gratteux !" ... Pas assez de pratique peut être ?
Enfin je juge mais je serais incapable d'en faire autant pour le moment !

Le gratteux c'est moi, merci pour le compliment. Je le répète, ce solo est chiant en ce qui concerne sa mise en place, du coup tu fais plus gaffe à essayer d'être en place et du coup le naturel en pati, le solo final est totalement improvisé donc pour le coup je suis super à l'aise... Mais pour le fun revisionné le solo que fait S. Wilson sur le dvd live arriving somewhere, il prend de sacrées libertés.

Pas mal cette reprise ! Le chanteur a une bonne voix.
J'aurais juste deux reproches à faire : ce même chanteur a un accent français trop prononcé et on grince un peu des dents à l'écoute de certaines prononciations (je n'entend effectivement pas "one of the wonders of the world" sur le refrain!) et le solo de guitare sonne un peu robotique et manque un peu de vie... Cela dit l'ambiance d'origine est bien retranscrite malgré tout, et rien pour ça, bravo !

Dommage pour les paroles "frenchisées", lol. Mais sinon c'est cool. Même si c'est dur de reprendre ce groupe (surtout pour l'ambiance), faut avoir les couille de le faire. Alors bravo. Et la partie gratte acoustique plus solo gratte, vraiment pas mal. Juste qu'au niveau voix ça vibre trop. Mais je mets d'abord les vidéos après je me permettrai de critiquer. De notre coté, on a repris Trains, Sounds of Muzak, and Arriving somewhere. Bon courage à vous...

Things to work on: Harmonization was not good(the parts are a low end melody, a high end melody, and a middle line that sings the same note the entire chorus) and the original solo was off.
Things that were awesome: The extended version with that improv solo(which was absolutely amazing) was great. That is the true definition of covering music - trying to display the original band's sound while fusing your own into it. Very nice!
