this suddenly appeared on bbc1 in 1985 for some reason, made in late 60s wasnt it ?. traveling around on those weird fan boats lol. they must have drugged that bear up surely ?.
Clint Howard IS Ron Howards brother. Clint appeared a couple of times as Benji in the Andy Griffith Show and also in one episode of the Classic Batman show and even in an episode of Star Trek, 'The Corbonite Maneuver'.
i hate to think what suffering that bear had gone through to walk on its back legs like that. humans do unthinkable amounts of abuse and suffering to bears.
Clint hwoard when he grew up. he became one ugly ass man. I mean if you dont beleive me, look at his icecream man movie poster. he look , ugly and crazy.
@veeseee128 That's the kind of ugly I wish I was! You see, there's ugly, and then there's PIMPIN' ugly where the guy, for no discernible reason, is a babe magnet. Howard is the latter.
disclaimer.all bears are heavily shackled and sadated at all times.in the unlikely event that bears mauled child to death all bears would be destroyed.
This was the first time anyone had seen those fan boats.. Also they never did air the final episode where the bear goes ballistic and kills the kid and his father. Pretty nasty stuff!
I used to love this show. Got the Gentle Ben game for Christmas in 1967. I opened it up and couldn't wait to play. Only problem was that the factory had screwed up and there were only pieces for the Barbie game in the box. : (
The series aired for two seasons on CBS' Sunday night schedule [right after "LASSIE", and just before "THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW"] at 7:30pm(et) from 1967 through 1969.
I read this book growing up. I had no idea it had been a tv show. I'm disturbed by this! Not only by the concept of it being a TV show, but by the alterations to the story.
They repeated this in the UK during the 1980s; for me and my friends Ben was defo the king of domesticated wild animals involved in morality tales and the prevention of petty crime. That Dolphin asswipe Flipper just didn't cut it!
No ben, NO!

Not many people know this, but the theme song has words, and Clint Howard sang them in one episode. The title is 'I Am The Way I Am'.

I watched this too. Wonder what happened to Gentle Ben....I hope kids didn't think bears were gentle after watching this.
LastTree 2 years ago
Many children were eaten after parents brought home Black and Grizzly bears for them to play with..I'm not making it up either.
