The opening riff reminds me of the one in Ronnie by Metallica. This is the song they probably got the inspiration. Lars Ulrich is a huge Deep Purple fan.
Well...While you all bicker about guitarists im just going to throw this little gem out there for debate...After listening to this I just cant believe that people would compare a lack luster turd like David Coverdale to sensational vocalists such as Robert Plant and Ronnie James Dio...David does and always has fallen way short of getting anywhere near them.
Wow, that was a weak argument, thanks for making this easy for me. David Coverdale's voice is completely different tone and he sings in a band with a different theme than Dio/Robert Plant.
Comparing apples to oranges just because they are both fruits is just as ignorant as ever.
Bullshit..David Coverdale has imitated and idolized Robert Plant for most of his career. How does your impotent information change Davids Voice for the better?.I will say that he improved overtime up until the last decade..But he was and never will be anything close to Ronnie James Dio, Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, or even Joe Lynn Turner...He was by far the least talented of Purples vocalists...He is a polished David Lee Roth at best...To compare him to the true legends of rock is sacriledge.
sweet?-this song, like many others of D.P.are- timeless.I heard them for the first time, when I was very young beetwen 1969-1972?In socialistic Poland such a music[also Pink Floyd,Led Zeppelin,Black Sabath,The Doors,J.Hendrix etc...]was for young generation like strong breeze of freedom in state where every aspect of life was under controll and even for quite innocent words each man could find himselve in prison.
I love the way they leave all the heavy breathing, moaning and grunting on the vocal track of DC! It's what makes the song and puts it over the top! One of the three best blues/rock songs ever! Blackmore tears it up at the end! Iron Maiden "borrows" the end in their song "Flight Of Icarus"!
The third track from David Gilmour's self-titled debut album ("Cry From the Street") sounds very similar (the intro, especially) to this underrated gem.
The difference was that DP put this out three to four years earlier.
always be david coverdale was the best performing this song.but im not sure for this one.whatever, only david are meant for this lovely song.he knows and bringing the song sincerely.
The whitesnake version is great too,I uploaded the whitesnake version from the cd live in the heart of the city, also is great the whitesnake version in monster of rock 1983
