Is Cubase better overall than ableton? I know it's all personal preference and all that shit, but I am not an electronic or hip hop artist. Strictly analog instruments. Though I like synthesizers and would use only an analog one.
Just got LE5 bundled with a lexicon alpha card interface. I only want to jam with some provided patches and rhythm loops but all the details are just so past me. I had a hard time with just registering, authorizing with eLicense, makes your head spin. I just want to play guitar. But the ques. is, how is the full version diff. than LE5, beyond the obvious "more features" answer? Please
@hardstylerzbounce You might be overusing your VST effects. I think what would help you more than anything would be to learn how to mix with the least possible amount of effects. Even the best DAWs crash and burn with excessive plugin processing. Good compression technique goes a long way. You should learn as much as you can about signal processing. This book might help, I know it helped me: Production Mixing Mastering with Waves by Anthony Egizii. Also, try to get your hands on Waves Plugins.
I just really need to know if it is just possible to layer more than 24 vst's on a kickdrumsynthesizer in cubase 5 (mixer). And a little explanation if not too much to ask. Really stupid thing though because in FL studio and Ableton that was no problem, stack as much as you like you know.
Im not to sure how you mean but I doubt there are limitations if you are using the full version of cubase. Personally I use drum samples as audio files and bounce down loops as I go. I know a couple of house producers releasing professionally and they both export(or render) there beats down to loops, mostly from habit in that they didnt have the cpu power in the past. It wont sound unprofessional infact in my experience will sound more professional.
@crugga Thanks again, yes I am not using a licenced version, still planning to. It's just that it costs a lot you know, and that could be hard earned money wasted. But I think I have all the options. Thank you for your suggestion though, I am still an amateur and maybe I should give it a shot, exporting I mean... My cubase sends are weird aswell, I cannot just select another FX but I can choose from ( No bus or stereo out ) whats up with that ?? might just be the pirated version allright. thanks
When I said full version I actually mean not Cubase elements or something like that. Id of thought your copy should work like an official copy once its cracked and working you just dont get the stability updates and stuff.
But yeah just play about with things, find which software is for you then stick at it and learn it inside out and back again.
Remember there is many ways of doing things, just because I say do this and another says do that, neither is right or wrong.
Thank you... well I am not sure if It will sound as professional when I firstly export then edit again and cutting after. Rendering is I think an end gate.
I've been producing in the dance genre for about three years now, and I want to go to the next level. My problem is the following: after opening up a drum instrument, I start to edit the kickdrum with vst's. though I am not able to use more than 24 vst slots. I start with filling up the first 8 slots for the instrument within the mixer. Then I add a group channel, which is another 8 slots, and after that I am stuck.... 24 slots if I fill in the main mixers panel. Any help ? really appreciate it
Bounce things down?(or export), meaning you make an audio file from what you have, so for example you export several different drums with all effects/compression etc into 1 audio file, therefore freeing up all those channels and loads of processor power. Its pretty much an essential thing to do. Not to mention you can then use those samples in other projects.
They are on about the 3rd update of Cubase 6, on each occasion ironing out bugs etc.
I was using an sx3 crack which worked but was a bit unstable and it wasnt till I used someone elses fully updated legit copy that I could see the difference and ive paid for the upgrade since.
I have to confess to using crack software but once ive decided I like something I do tend to buy it, you get the updates + I find I make more use of software ive paid for, long term worth it.
I both love and hate Cubase. I bought 5 a while ago and I fret everytime I change my cpu that that darn dongle will be accepted. If that thing goes..bye bye $500!

@synchronizerman Im in the same boat; Im a veteran with FL8, and I've grown tired of it...Im buying either Komplete 7, Ableton Live 8, or Cubase 5 with synth packs from Native Instruments.....

@synchronizerman Thats what im concerned with too....plus the instruments....This guy's video sort of shows some live stuff and a bit of piano roll....his midi 'controller' is a keyboard, like mine is.
type into the search bar on Youtubes: "Making A Big Rap Beat / Instrumental | Logic Pro 9 | Jason Hawkins - Hyperaptive | Synth - Strings" its got 43,734 views, to be specifically correct.
I am considering buying Cubase but the usb dongle is making me undecided. From my understanding, you can install the software on several computers, but you can only use the software on only one computer at a time, since you have to have the dongle connected. Am I correct? Or is it that you only get one install and then you must buy more dongles? Looking forward to a response.
Hey, have you guys seen the new Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard production center? It's perfect for running all of your Windows compatible software and plugins! Check out the videos on our channel by clicking the link below!
i purchased all of my software but getting pissed off because u pay and someone doesnt is weak . most of the pirated software is going into the hands of people with little knoweledge on daw and will more than likely not be serious in their craft .
@myownmaze Then you too should pirate idiot...pirate so they can lower these ridicolus prices. No one has 700 dollars to throw on a DAW they may or may not like after using it. And not to mention these VST companies like nexus and hypersonic who want so much for just a plug in. Hell no I'd rather pirate and use it. Money isn't easy to come by now a days. And it sure as hell ain't easy to give away either.
@RizzoAstronama if u cant reach a goal of 700$ ur in the wrong buisiness and you most likey are weak in everything you do stick to rock band for ps3 oh wait they want to much money for playstation and i dont know if im going to like it after i use it . weak ass bitch .
@myownmaze I have pirated cubase 5...and had I paid for it I would have wasted 700 dollars it's an intentionality unfriendly UI to pretend that it is "advanced" like pro tools. If your into wasting money and time then my friend "Your in the wrong business" no serious artist wants to record on something that can't give them the best vocal output which is exactly what cubase does (on purpose). Because they want people to consider them "Advanced" as it says on the loading screen
This with the open labs NEKO is a BEAUTIFUL THING. just straight up plug mic in and use vocals, instruments whatev. IF you have mimik you could transfer ANY vst or synth onto your Neko and Cubase works with 99% of them.
nice series of videos MDL. you are offering excellent advice; could see from your first video you were serious about producing and its paid off for you. congrats my dude. hard work does pay off sometimes. i'm a bit of a hobbyist; dont know if I'll ever make it to pro level like you, but I'll do my best regardless. i just love it. thanks for not being selfish with your experience. continued success. peace.
i started with Cubase then switched to Pro tools for a while. i've tried a couple other DAWs in between and I have to say I'm most comfortable with Cubase. plus it seems to be most compatible with other software and hardware interfaces.
i've only been producing for about a year, so I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to use other DAWs and my opinion may or may not change in the future. it all boils down to personal preference and what works for the individual. thanks for the videos!
Hey, I have a problem with my cubase. When i record on a insturment track with my MIDI keyboard. all the notes that i played gathers at the first beat. so when i press play every note i've played plays at the same time.. haha get my problem? wtf should i do?
I just brought cubase 5 and i carnt here any sound but the track record metronome also i don't have a usb interface yet maybee thats why i carn't here anything please help thanks
hey, i was wondering if the line 6 ux8 toneport audio interface would work with cubase? and i was wondering if the line 6 podfarm plug in that comes with it would work too. thanks for the awesome video. ive been looking for a good software for a long time now, and ive always had my eye on cubase.
@draganjadragandabic That's good for people like me too who is not trying to spend $500 for it, even though it might have some bugs on it but, i might as well use that money towards a midi controller.
@noelectricmonk you are stupid. i live in croatia and i have job and again i cant aford it you stupid bitch i am not american or english or german italian
i am from BALKAN you do not know shit about life...and in my country 90% of us cant buy it so fuck of ..... sory for bad english and i would buy it but i cant ...and i know use it
@draganjadragandabic Wellity wellity wellity then.... go ahead and steal stuff. Who am I to criticise? It's not like you're screwing people that actually work with the stuff every day huh? Nah.
Dude, if you were starving, I wouldn't give a fuck if you stole a loaf of bread. But lets be honest; you're only stealing 'cause you can.
Fucking thief! I pay for mine and you sit behind ur fuckking net connection laughing at ligit workers. Fuck you and the net connection you rode in on.
@noelectricmonk I am not starving fuking idiot i just cant get money for progrm my pay chek is late for 5 mounths iam from croatia and in my country now is hard time
@noelectricmonk Always gotta have the ethics police comin through, and I think it actually helps companies that make these programs. I will eventually buy Ableton etc. when I get more serious, for the updates and such. And you should realize the companies have these products for demo (but you can't save your projects most of the time which really sucks). So as long as your aren't making money off the work or are just messing around I don't see the harm at all.
@Nisp4 The ethics police? You're lucky it's not the real police because as I'm sure you are aware, it is illegal to use DAW's without a licence. Whether or not you see the harm is irrelevant. It's not up to you to decide that.
I've paid good money for all the software I own and it pisses me off that people just download it all for free and think it's ok - no, people actually think it "helps companies ..."
@MARQUEZbeats13 Yup. Go back to your Mbox and fruity loops and presets and waves cracks that you don't even know how to use and your behringer microphone and the egg cartons on your wall. Get back to me when you work out how to use Fruity Compressor.
@noelectricmonk lol ouch tht hurts lol, dumbass i use reason more then anything, and i usse an akai mpk49, fuckin dumbass think u kno what u talkin about lol, the shit on my channel is hella old, i dnt post my good shit on here, lol ur funny homie, who uses egg cartons now-a-days? probly u since u talkin about it haha fuckin lame come at me with some better shit next time
@Nisp4 I'm well aware that products are available for demo but that just illustrates the point. Use them for 30 days or whatever then BUY. Thats the whole point of the demo.
And if you really need a DAW, use something that's free or cheap. Why don't you use Reaper or even Audacity? They do the same job as the "expensive" ones.
There are also free plugins that are really quite good but people still want to steal them. You're only stealing because you can.
y dont u have 2 computer monitors set up for your studio? Its worth the purchase and then you could leave your mixer on a separate screen so it would save u the hassle of the back and forth repetition of bringing the mixer back up. Also you failed to mention Nuendo. Nuendo and Cubase are the exact same except Nuendo costs more, and has more features like realtime networking so you can work on a project with someone else on a seperate computer. Anyways it was a good video but the volume was low.
IS SEE THIS SOFTWARE EVERYWHERE!!! cUbASE cUABASe ~!!
I NEVER checked it out untill now.. i worked with FL. then moved to reason and didnt like it at all because of the setup no full screen i hated that. this kinda looks the same... i love ableton. have you ever tried it?
is Cubase SX3 basically just the Cubase 3? Thanks. I agree also, I have Cubase Essential 5 and for the most part it meets my needs. Its better than any DAW I've tried. Keep up the music!
Thanks,i will be posting my devotional song in few days and i would like you to hear it and give your comments and suggestions,I have one issue when i use Cubase 5 the ASIO over loads when i am half way in the song ,like if i add extra effects like Room works etc, what is going wrong? how do i get rid of the clicks when the ASIO usage shows the overload mark..?
hey I'm a big fan of yours is there anyway you or anybody else do a video on how to mix and record studio perfect sounds how to set up bus track etc....
Appreciate the vid...couple questions....are u set up, with your audio driver like(mbox, m audio etc) through usb?....and what is your basic setup with your midi keyboard to your computer
Thanks for the review. I've been convinced to buy Cubase 5 which I will in the upcoming month(s). I've also noticed that every recording studio is Pro Tools HD setup for recording (like it or not =/). Is it easy AND practical to export the vocal comp and have it lined up to Cubase and finalize the project that way? I spent so many hours learning Cubase 101 already.
Nice Review. Im in the process of saving up a couple of g's to invest in my home studio im going to build. I was using a crack version of fl studio with some crack vst's. for about 2 years. Now im ready to get ore serious
Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me, In have cubase sx 3 and cubase 5. When i use a metranome when i record the metranome bleeds onto the track and if i record an audio track of guitar the guitar bleeds onto the next track. Does anyone know how i could perminantly fix this? thanks
Hey MDL, i'm an FLSTUDIO user and im looking to start using Reason or Cubase so it may take a bit of time but i'm just wondering how you import your stuff from FLSTUDIO to Cubase??, Do you just paste in the individual mp3 recordings from FL? thanks mate
@disciple21781 i'll battle ne reason user ...with fl and guarantee a wiin if not a close to call match ...plus i can use reason i just dont ....and protools is sick haterz
@eatemup316 same here, reason can be very limited...
pro tools is good and i used it exclusively for a year pt8. and ive moved over to cubase and i like it way better. im honestly shocked at how much better it is than pt8. pt8 is a cpu hog, and cubase runs great. and yes i have a good computer, its pro tools, not my computer. lol
hey mdl, i was wondering what beat sequencer u use?? im tired of using fl studio and im tryna gain more experience with something new ya know? i had reason but i wasnt into reason really, but hit me back my dude
I just got Cubase 5 this morning. Kinda scared to use it cuz Im so excited bout what it can do. Ive been using Cockos Reaper... thats history though lol. I was producing on Reason before that. Ima still rewire that with Cubase though. Oh yea, I got a Open labs Miko so lets just say Im set up for prosperity haha! got about 200 gigs in Vst's alone too. I switched to Cubase because I was having issues with my Waves SSL and Mercury bundle plugins in Reaper.
@TheAlmaytony05 wth?do support the original products dude!if it too expansive for you, then try the other free software. If not,the FBI will be ur visitor :)
Whats up man much respect you definetly know your shit. Im a beginner and i was wondering what kind of computer you use and whats the specs on it. I notice when there are too many tracks going in FL my laptop bogs down and lags how can i fix that.
@DJJblaze Dont know about FL:studio but if ur just orginal piraat YARR! as many todays beginners. So i suggest for LAPTOP music making for DAW, what supports freeze. When i did music whit my laptop i used ableton live (which i still love) to conserve cpu. It has ability (sure there are more). Freeze turns your audio calculations to audio track file, that really can come handy to laptops (mid-laptops). If your specs are too low. Just buy really workstations if really into it!
@DJJblaze well it could be a few things. how much ram do you have? when you have too many tracks going, what kind of tracks are they? you could also resample (export the patterns of) VST pluggins so they are just wavs and remove the VST. that takes up less resource... there are many options.
Is Cubase better overall than ableton? I know it's all personal preference and all that shit, but I am not an electronic or hip hop artist. Strictly analog instruments. Though I like synthesizers and would use only an analog one.

I am considering buying Cubase but the usb dongle is making me undecided. From my understanding, you can install the software on several computers, but you can only use the software on only one computer at a time, since you have to have the dongle connected. Am I correct? Or is it that you only get one install and then you must buy more dongles? Looking forward to a response.

i purchased all of my software but getting pissed off because u pay and someone doesnt is weak . most of the pirated software is going into the hands of people with little knoweledge on daw and will more than likely not be serious in their craft .
myownmaze 1 year ago 2
@myownmaze Then you too should pirate idiot...pirate so they can lower these ridicolus prices. No one has 700 dollars to throw on a DAW they may or may not like after using it. And not to mention these VST companies like nexus and hypersonic who want so much for just a plug in. Hell no I'd rather pirate and use it. Money isn't easy to come by now a days. And it sure as hell ain't easy to give away either.
RizzoAstronama 1 year ago
@RizzoAstronama if u cant reach a goal of 700$ ur in the wrong buisiness and you most likey are weak in everything you do stick to rock band for ps3 oh wait they want to much money for playstation and i dont know if im going to like it after i use it . weak ass bitch .
myownmaze 1 year ago

IF you have mimik you could transfer ANY vst or synth onto your Neko and Cubase works with 99% of them.

i started with Cubase then switched to Pro tools for a while. i've tried a couple other DAWs in between and I have to say I'm most comfortable with Cubase. plus it seems to be most compatible with other software and hardware interfaces.
i've only been producing for about a year, so I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to use other DAWs and my opinion may or may not change in the future. it all boils down to personal preference and what works for the individual. thanks for the videos!

Nisp4 1 year ago
@Nisp4 The ethics police? You're lucky it's not the real police because as I'm sure you are aware, it is illegal to use DAW's without a licence. Whether or not you see the harm is irrelevant. It's not up to you to decide that.
I've paid good money for all the software I own and it pisses me off that people just download it all for free and think it's ok - no, people actually think it "helps companies ..."

MARQUEZbeats13 1 year ago
@MARQUEZbeats13 "... i dnt post my good shit on here." lol!
noelectricmonk 1 year ago

DJJblaze 1 year ago
@DJJblaze Whats the RPM on your harddrive?
NosferatuOfWorms 1 year ago
@DJJblaze Dont know about FL:studio but if ur just orginal piraat YARR! as many todays beginners. So i suggest for LAPTOP music making for DAW, what supports freeze. When i did music whit my laptop i used ableton live (which i still love) to conserve cpu. It has ability (sure there are more). Freeze turns your audio calculations to audio track file, that really can come handy to laptops (mid-laptops). If your specs are too low. Just buy really workstations if really into it!
sepihorse 1 year ago
@DJJblaze well it could be a few things. how much ram do you have? when you have too many tracks going, what kind of tracks are they? you could also resample (export the patterns of) VST pluggins so they are just wavs and remove the VST. that takes up less resource... there are many options.
