He's playing the kick with the same hand hes using for the snare and instead of crossing his hands and having the hi hat on the right he just put it on the left so his hands wouldn't get tangled playing the bass and snare

Are you talking about the live versions? Because they recorded that long before Roy ever joined the band. Jonathan Allen is the bassman on that track. As in, Jonathan Allen of Club of the Sons!
