The book is great. Like Kool Herc said in the intro:"To me, hip hop says:, Come as you are."
And Jeff himself says: "whom does (the hip hop generation) include? Anyone who was down."

Jeff Chang is SOOOOO not hip-hop...and yes I have read his book.

Jeff is not a kid anymore, hes an older young man, and hes not BBOY any more. Hip hop is not gangster. Hip hop is not ghetto necessarily. To say Jeff is not hip hop is to admit that you dont understand what hip hop is. I think Jeff defines the idea of what hip hop is as a culture very well.
