  • Serena is still pissed at Justine for the '03 hand incident, which was the turning point in that match and stopped Serena from winning 5 slams in a row. Serena embraces all opponents at the handshake win or lose, as long as they've played a fair match. She's never cheated, nor does she like cheaters. Justine cheated her. Watch Serena's matches regularly and you'll see her applaud good shots, she mutters "good shot" to opponents. She's a good sportswoman minus two brattish moments at USO. End of.

  • serena ran outta answers...justine was on fire and never let up...this year i swear im going to the us open....

  • Justine was on fire i miss their rivalry...

  • Serena was like "Good job"

  • I love both of Williams sisters. And I really miss Justine!

  • Henin is very well this match

  • 3. Mentally mature means SPORTSMANSHIP & GOOD ATTITUDE on court.

    Yes. Thank you.

  • i think Henin is one of the best woman player. Her backhand is a really good stuff. If she doesn't have injuring she could have on number one on the ATP ranking

  • if justine had a few more inches of height to her frame, she would have absolutely dominated the whole of women's tennis... she's an inspiration that she worked so hard to get strong physically and could hit just as hard, if not harder, than the big players.

  • Yeah when she was number 1 i was like dammit "can some one knock her off??? Then Serena got the spot, and then those injuries came...But i think Dinara retired. And too bad Justine retired, womens tennis needs pioneers, its already in my opinion boring without these girls. And i cant wait for London, grass courts is the best. But i have picks on the womens side, Serena to win the AO (lol maybe) Stosur to win the French(dont like her)Serena or Venus to win Wimbledon(Poor Venus) Clijsters Us Open!

  • See people say that Wozniacki played so poorly and is a horrible #1 because she lost to Serena, but if Serena serves like she did against Caroline, she's gonna beat ANYONE. I guarantee you if she served as well as she did against Woz in this match, Henin would not have won.. (not to take any credit away from Justine)

  • @Top10TennisNetwork Hmm, I don't agree, Serena really didn't serve that well against Wozniacki. Her serve was REALLY good during the USO series, the best since the Wimbledon 2010 serve show. She definitly wouldn´t win against this Henin, because Wozniacki fans forget one thing: The little pressure Wozniacki exerts the return. Her backhand return is decent, but her forehand not threatening at all. Henin otoh has great returns from both sides. This affects a server greatly. ps: love ur highlights!

  • @ChessboyJohnny You said that Serena wouldnt win against this Henin??? Serena can beat anyone, and that has been proven numerous times, and lets not forget when Serena beat Henin at the 2010 AO, just saying anyone can beat anyone while they are sizzling hot and may seem unbeatable. Like Nishikori beating Novak in Basel this year... Just saying though

  • @5000futuristic Read the comments before you react plz... I was talking about 2011 USO Serena, not 2002 Serena. I'm actually a rational tennis fan, and Serena at her best is unbeatable (even though I don't really like her game) However, in that match against Wozniacki, she was faaaar from her best, and still beat that chick comprehensively, that was my point..

  • @ChessboyJohnny Ohh ok sorry about that, but dont get me wrong i do love Henin though... And from my point of view i dont think Wozniaki deserves to be number 1, not because she cant win slams but not beating top players in the right tournaments. But this 2011 season for Serena was, ok her game is not the same as it was in 2002, but 2012 will be a good year, and sorry again didnt wanna seem like an a hole

  • @5000futuristic haha no worries, same here. I partly agree, only I now start doubting her abilities. This year she hasn't even really faced top players (except Na at AO) at slams, because she lost in earlier rounds against lower ranked players who the nr.1 really shouldn't lose against. IMO she's just a poor mans Hingis, without the finesse and touch and craftyness. But we'll see. I agree, I expect her to win at least one slam next year, maybe even the olympics ;)

  • @ChessboyJohnny Yeah Caroline just needs to be more aggressive she can do it. Serena on the other hand has actually got in better shape, and kinda humbled herself to do and act a little better(KINDA) She should at least win one or two next year. But im ready to see Clijsters back in action, along with Venus and everyone else with their story lines. Oh and Venus accepted a wild card to play in a tournament in 2012, sooo maybe she's doing better. And just to say, i really miss poor Dinara! Lol

  • @5000futuristic haha yeah me too, hated her when she was dominating, but she was a pretty good nr.1 and got way too much crap from the media and other players, in comparison to Wozniacki now. I'm really excited as well, london 2012 is going to be classic!

  • @ChessboyJohnny How is London going to be classic; the top of the top is either retired/slacking off/simply not interested anymore?! Without Justine it has become a joke!

  • serena is not mature, the outbursts,

  • I love Serena, but I miss Justine. She was such a pleasure to watch. Small but strong. Technically sound. Beautiful backhand, great hands, awesome at net. She brought out the best in Serena and so many other players. Come back Justine!!

  • I loved Henin, she was so technical...

  • I rarely see women players who run around the backhand to hit a strong forehand Justine is one of them... He plays like a female fed.... 0:21 was pretty!

  • I was at this match. Justine just took it to Serena full blast. One of the few matches I have seen Serena outplayed-she just gave up after the first set

  • Henin is a great champion...and so are the williams sisters. but lets be honest ppl...at their very best, the williams edge henin...just look at their all-time head to head records

  • @dc3fan2003 Serena might be a champion, but she has no class.

  • @StevenCBlah thats debateable. take away her us open foot fault incident and youd be hard pressed to find any instances on non-class from her

  • @dc3fan2003 Boy, you clearly haven't been following tennis for long lol

  • @StevenCBlah i very much have followed the williams career since they wore beads lol. so yes i have. and a lot of commentators have nothing but high praise for serena AND venus' character lol. its only ppl like u who have bad things to say

  • I think Henin it is a more complete player than the others. Plus her height also affects her game. Her serve for instance. The William sisters have accurate shots, but a lot of her wins is down I believe to more powerful groundstrokes, fitness to keep going for 3 sets and ultimately the huge and powerful serves. That's because of injuries she retired. Look at the sisters they never bad injuries or Federer in the mans tennis.

  • @paulinolondon That's not true. Williams had faced several serious injuries, during these 10 years, that made them withdraw from some tournments including Grand Slams. Look at it right now: Serena hasn't been playing since Wimbledon2010. She was forced to stop playing when she was CLEARLY #1, and praticly unbeatable.

It's true about Roger Federer. That guy is sooo lucky, people! One of the reasons he has so many GS titles is because he was never forced to withdraw due to injury.

  • @Querzeo Roger is not lucky. Injuries come with forcing too much over the body, wrong technique etc. His talent and technique are so pure he didn't need to force his body. He also has a very good balance in movement, preventing yet again injuries. I am not counting misfortunes as Serena's cut on the foot of course.

  • At french open 2007 and us open 2007 henin won without loosing a set. That includes QF matchs against serena aswell. This clearly shows henin was just too good in these tournaments in 2007. I dont care whether serena was fit or not. if she was not fit she shoudant have played in the first place. if she was not fit how come she made it to QF of us open by beating vera and bartoli. If serena was not fit enough how come she took the 1st set to tie break against henin. Btw Tie break said it all, bo

  • both are great players but even the experts e.g. Navratilova and Mcenroe at her best Serena is unbeatable but obviously serena is not always at her best meaning great players like Henin can take advantge and win.

  • In 2007, Justine is just the best that year, better than the Williams sisters since Serena beat her at Roland in fourth at Wimbledon quarter (despite the injury Serena) and then she offered the two sisters at the U.S. Open (Serena in 1 / 4 and Venus in half) and it outperforms all other players playing his best tennis to win a second title at the U.S. Open!

  • I think it's hard for people to accept Serena losing because she's usually so dominant, but to not give credit to Justine would be a travesty. I don't think I've ever seen any woman play THIS GOOD of tennis in recent years. And it really showed here, she won this US Open without dropping a single set- and this was vs not just Serena but BOTH Williams sisters. If it was such a fluke that she beat Serena like this then she wouldn't have done it to Venus as well. Justine is outstanding. Bravo.

  • justine the best C: i miss her :C !

  • I guess this one really makes the Serena worshippers cry. So many excuses.

  • @ractorspring It's ok, you know she just hit a lot of lucky shots in this one.

  • @bobomber a lot of talent and a little luck, makes great champion. if i say it about one person, i'd say it about them all

  • serena was not at her best here at all even her grunt was off thats the first tell ... after this henin went down hill and serena rose up and dominated compared serena is better handsdown

  • i just watched the justine serena 2001 US Open highlights. It's amazing how Serena is sooo much slower here and her shots arent nearly as penetrating. I credit her embarrassment after losing like this to Serena returning to the her 2001 version by 2008.

  • @cerulean202

    1) I've seen both sisters credit their opponents for their loss NUMEROUS times. especially venus

    2) they're the fastest, strongest and biggest servers. the entire tennis world expects them to win. they expect themselves to win because if every player played at their best everyday, Serena for sure would be #1.

    3) if Serena's not mentally mature, i have no idea how she's had so many comeback wins...

    4) You can get faster with age. as i said, she clearly had it back in 08 & 09

  • @ractorspring Serena will turning 30 this year. Venus much older. Let's wait & see OKAY^^

    - I remember Venus on 2005 US Open QF after suffering defeat from Kim Clijsters. Venus said that Kim pulled her level down. Kim went on winning her 1st grand slam.

-I also remember Serena at the 2007 US Open after a defeat from Justine Henin. Serena said Justine just had some lucky shots. Serena may not realized that she had been beaten by Justine at the French & Wimbledon that year prior to US Open.

  • Comment removed

  • @ractorspring 1.After this match Serena tells the press people that Justine just had some lucky shots. Serena may not realized that she had been beaten by Justine at the French & Wimbledon prior to this US Open.

    2. Justine is only 1.67 m (5 ft 6 in) compared to the Williams sisters she's tiny, but she's able to beat them here back-to-back.

    3. Mentally mature means SPORTSMANSHIP & GOOD ATTITUDE on court.

    4. Venus is 31 and Serena is 30, they've had their glories.

  • @cerulean202; looooolll..yeah she beat Serena a few times but Serena did not play at her best those years and you know it. When the Williams sisters lose, they always give a nice handshake with a smile.

  • @DutchHPfan1992 that's what williams' sisters fans say when they've lost "they didn't play their best tennis" not when they win... LOL

Btw, 2007 is the year when Serena beat Justine in Miami. And Justine beat Serena in French, Wimbledon & US Open that same year. Just in case you don't remember.

  • @cerulean202; well it's true because Serena at her best would always win from Henin lol.

  • @DutchHPfan1992 NOPE. Not the year 2007 ... LOL

  • @DutchHPfan1992

A loser =/= how many wins you have

A loser = your behaviour when you lose.

  • @cerulean202 Pick all you want, Serena's got more and she's still running strong. Sucks Justine is out though.

  • @cerulean202

Why must you put Venus together with Serena? It's always "The Williams Sisters". Seriously? Venus is very professional and cool. I cannot say the same for Serena.

If you want to diss, diss Serena. Venus shouldn't be bundled with Serena when lil sis does something repulsive. Serena is mature mentally for competition, but she's nowhere near as mature as Venus professionally. Unfortunately, big sis covers lil sis sometimes.

  • @fire1202 I agree, they do behave differently and that's a good and bad thing I guess. Maybe if Venus gave more emotion she'd have won more slams, and maybe if Serena calmed down sometimes she would have won more. But that's all in the past and we should as you said seperate them in terms of their mentality and professionalism because they are different people after all! They're sisters, not clones!

  • @cerulean202 Do you realize how BAD ATTITUDE Serena has inside the tennis court???? You may have outburst and could say some curses alright, but not directly to a person. Yeah, the Williams Sisters hate losing but when they get to the press conferences and had nothing nice to say to their opponents. Then they could just praise themselves much as they want LOL. Oh please!

  • Where about in this match did Serena call Henin a bitch

  • i'll be missing justine's game.. :(

  • Justine play great in this match, she was everywhere, credits to her,she really deserve to win that match.

  • Justine must've been taking drugs. There is NO WAY that a woman that petite can hit the ball so damn hard. It's crazy!

  • justine was awesome though serena had her chances n the 1st set with a set point and didnt take them

yes serena was no at her best but if henin didnt play well henin wouldnt have won

  • Only Justin, Venus y kim can win to Serena in the Gran Slam (Australia open, Wimbledon y us Open).

  • Allez Juju

  • I remember Serena was bad in this match...

  • @UreFox

    why?

    Justine played wery good!!!1

  • @nestorick17 Yes Justine was awsome.

But Serena not at her best.:(
